The Service for the Lord s Day Transfiguration of the Lord February 11, 2018 Boldface type indicates a spoken response. The asterisk (*) is an invitation to stand if able. PRELUDE WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL TO WORSHIP O Lord, our God, we cry to you and you restore our health. Ps. 30:2 Our healer washes us in the waters of baptism, cleanses us from all that enslaves, and gives us peace. O Lord, our God, we will give you thanks forever. Ps. 30:12 *OPENING HYMN #805 Come Sing to God *PRAYER OF CONFESSION In obedience to God s command to repent, let us lay before God and one another our need for forgiveness, that we might receive healing mercy. Merciful God, we confess that without you, we are not whole. Forgive our foolish ways, reform our prideful selves, make us listen to the way of peace, remove from us the disbelief to which we cling. You are the One who liberates with a word and nourishes us with your own bruised body. Give us thankful hearts as we come to the waters of life with trust and hope. Amen. First Presbyterian Church Muskegon, MI Page 2

*DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS The God who knows you through and through, whose own body and blood were given for your freedom, who calls you to renewal every day, hears your repentance and by grace has made you clean. As a believer In Jesus Christ, I am charged to proclaim the good news. I declare to you the forgiveness of all your sin. The weight Is lifted from our shoulders; we are free to live and love. Household Prayer: Morning Holy One, who greets me in the morning and gives me rest at night, let me see you in the people I meet today. Let me hear your voice in the sounds that surround me. Let me heed your call to breathe deeply when I am confused or distressed. Let me speak kindly to my neighbors this day. Household Prayer: Evening Holy One, who calms my troubled mind as the evening comes, I give you thanks for the richness of this day: for the work I have had to do, for the home that offers me a place to rest, for the friends and family who have touched me in the last hours, and for the people of your church in every land whose prayers unknown to me are yet a part of my life through you. Bless your people everywhere, and bless me, too, as I lay down to sleep; in Jesus name, I pray. Amen. First Presbyterian Church Muskegon, MI Page 6
