1997 Integrity's Hosanna! Music CCLI License No. 303098 Call to Worship Give thanks to the Lord for God is good. God s steadfast love endures forever. Come, let us praise God with all that we have. Let us worship God with thanksgiving. For the good world; for things great and small, beautiful and awesome; for seen and unseen splendors; Thank you, God. For human life; for talking and moving and thinking together; for common hopes and hardships shared from birth until our dying; Thank you, God. For sticking with us when we have failed to do your will For loving us when we are hard to love For forgiving us when we are slow to forgive others. Thank you, God. For your help in times of doubt and sorrow; for healing our diseases; for preserving us in temptation and danger; Thank you, God. Above all, O God, for your Son Jesus Christ, who lived and died and lives again for our salvation; for our hope in him. We thank and praise you, God, for your everlasting love. Thanks be to God. Amen. Song Above All Above all powers above all kings Above all nature and all created things Above all wisdom and all the ways of man 2

You were here before the world began Above all kingdoms above all thrones Above all wonders the world has ever known Above all wealth and treasures of the earth There's no way to measure What You're worth Crucified laid behind a stone You lived to die rejected and alone Like a rose trampled on the ground You took the fall and thought of me Above all 1999 Integrity's Hosanna! Music\LenSongs Publishing \ CCLI License No. 303098 Greeting The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day Let us pray Gracious God, we know, like David, that there are times when we turn from you and hurt our neighbors. When we fall short, pick us up again. Save us from ourselves and turn us again to you, that we may be the people you call us to be, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. WORD Scripture Reading Mark 3:31-35 A reading from Mark. Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him, Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking for you. And he replied, Who are my mother and my brothers? And looking at those 3

who sat around him, he said, Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother. A reading from Second Samuel. Hear God s Word for God s People. Speak, Lord, for your servants are listening. In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab with his officers and all Israel with him; they ravaged the Ammonites, and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. It happened, late one afternoon, when David rose from his couch and was walking about on the roof of the king s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; the woman was very beautiful. David sent someone to inquire about the woman. It was reported, This is Bathsheba daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. So David sent messengers to get her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she was purifying herself after her period.) Then she returned to her house. The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, I am pregnant. So David sent word to Joab, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David. When Uriah came to him, David asked how Joab and the people fared, and how the war was going. Then David said to Uriah, Go down to your house, and wash your feet. Uriah went out of the king s house, and there followed him a present from the king. But Uriah slept at the entrance of the king s house with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house. When they told David, Uriah did not go down to his house, David said to Uriah, You have just come from a journey. Why did you not go down to your house? Uriah said to David, The ark and Israel and Judah remain in booths; and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field; shall I then go to my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do such a thing. Then David said to Uriah, Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will send you back. So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day. On the next day, David invited him to eat and drink in his presence and made him drunk; and in the evening he went out to lie on his couch with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house. In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah. In the letter he wrote, Set Uriah in the forefront of the hardest fighting, and then draw back from him, so that he may be struck down and 5

die. As Joab was besieging the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew there were valiant warriors. The men of the city came out and fought with Joab; and some of the servants of David among the people fell. Uriah the Hittite was killed as well. Then Joab sent and told David all the news about the fighting. When the wife of Uriah heard that her husband was dead, she made lamentation for him. When the mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD. Word of God, Word of Life. Thanks be to God. Please be seated Message The assembly stands to proclaim the word of God in song Hymn of the Day Lord I Need You Lord, I come, I confess Bowing here I find my rest Without You I fall apart You're the One that guides my heart Lord, I need You, Oh, I need You Every hour I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You Where sin runs deep Your grace is more Where grace is found is where You are And where You are, Lord, I am free Holiness is Christ in me Lord, I need You, Oh, I need You Every hour I need You 6

My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You Teach my song to rise to You When temptation comes my way And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You Jesus, You're my hope and stay Lord, I need You, Oh, I need You Every hour I need You My one defense, my righteousness Oh God, how I need You My one defense, my righteousness, Oh God, how I need You. Matt Maher. Copyright 2011 Sixsteps Music (Admin. By EMI Christian Music Publishing) Apostles Creed Hymnal pg. 105 I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers 7

Peace The peace of the Lord be with you always And also with you Please share the peace of our Risen Christ with your neighbors Offering MEAL An offering is gathered for the mission of the church, including the care of those in need. Offertory Music Blessings We pray for blessings We pray for peace comfort for family Protection while we sleep We pray for healing for prosperity We pray for Your mighty hand To ease our suffering And all the while You hear each spoken need Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things 'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears And what if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You're near And what if trials of this life Are Your mercies in disguise We pray for wisdom Your voice to hear We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near We doubt Your goodness We doubt Your love As if ev'ry promise from Your Word is not enough And all the while You hear each desp'rate plea And long that we'd have faith to believe When friends betray us When darkness seems to win 8

We know that pain reminds this heart That this is not this is not our home It's not our home 'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears And what if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You're near What if my greatest disappointments Or the aching of this life Is a revealing of a greater thirst This world can't satisfy And what if trials of this life The rain the storms the hardest nights Are Your mercies in disguise CCLI Song # 5897818 Offertory Let the Vineyards Be Fruitful Hymnal #182 Offering Prayer Let us pray We give you thanks, o God, for we know that all that we have and all that we are comes from you. Through your goodness you have blessed us with these gifts: our selves, our time, and our possessions. Use us, and what we 9

have gathered, in feeding the world with your love, through the one who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. Words of Institution In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. The time is now. Jesus calls us all to this meal. Lamb of God Hymnal pg 174 Music during Communion 10
