The Newsletter of Community United Methodist Church June 2013 Stories Everyone Should Know by Pastor Markus Glorify God Last month we were confronted with a little challenge: What are the stories in the Bible everyone should know?, you were asked and you answered. You provided a wealth of feedback in the drop box in the lobby. Encourage one another Eight stories were chosen to be highlighted in church starting June 9th. Now, about those stories: No, they are not necessarily the most famous ones; some of them are rather in-famous and some might even be considered unpopular. But I thought we d go with the train of thought from Second Timothy: Share J e s u s All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 If this is true then we want to bring it on here at CUMC: let s see how those stories can teach, correct, train and equip us even if they seem strange or out of touch with the modern world. What are those stories? Well, you just have to come and check it out: June 9th July 28th!

Noisy Can Sunday, June 23rd Vacation Bible School Meets every Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM, in room 13 on the My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 1:9 Alzheimer s Caregiver Support Group We will continue to collect for a few weeks, if you missed the May Noisy Can collection. This group meets here on the second Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:00 PM. In room 13 on the lower level with parking and entry from the back of the building for easy access. The purpose of the group is to provide Nursery News! Thank You! Our heartfelt thanks to Pam Hancock for nearly 3 years as one of our faithful Nursery Attendants. Enjoy your break I m sure it will only be a short time before you find a new area to serve the Lord here! Please Welcome Krystal Richmond as Pam s replacement! Krystal will be joining Bonnie as our newest Nursery Attendant! caregivers with updated information, emotional support, and problem solving as related to the challenges of giving care to those living with Alzheimer s disease or other dementia. Three trained women who have personally experienced caring for a loved one with Alzheimer s will lead the group. This group is for caregivers only, not patients with dementia or Alzheimer s. Questions about the group? Call the church office at 262-534-2313. We do have two wonderful, caring Nursery Attendants, but they still need one volunteer in the nursery with them every week. If you are able to help at either service or during the Sunday School hour see or contact Sally Schober. Email: sfisk@wi.rr.com Thank you in advance for volunteering in this very important ministry in our church.

Prayer Sunday June 2nd 9-9:30 AM & 12:00 12:30 PM Do you know someone who needs prayer? Invite them to Prayer Sunday! Teams of Prayer Warriors are ready and willing to pray with or for those who need it for many different concerns. Bring your needs before our Mighty God! Coffee anyone? Notice anything different at the coffee bar...notice anything new??? We are now known as the 'Coffee Crew' and our new aprons say just that. We also started serving Iced coffee (that's new). We try different/new things to see what you think and if you like it...so let us know! Electronic Giving Do you know we are set up for electronic contributions? Contributions can be debited automatically from your checking or savings account. This service offers convenience for you and much-needed donation consistency for our congregation. If you are currently giving on a regular basis, you will no longer need to write all those checks each year! And, when circumstances prevent you from attending services, this program will allow your offerings to continue on an uninterrupted basis. Authorization forms and a frequently asked questions flyer are available in the church office. The Newsletter is available by email and on the website at www.extremefaith.org If you would like to stop receiving the newsletter by mail contact the office at 262-534-2313 or office@extremefaith.org to let us know.
