Personal and church-related materials. Originals at Disciples of Christ Historical Society, Nashville, TN. DONOR INFORMATION The papers were donated to the University of Missouri by Allean Hale on 24 May 1974 (Accession No. 3933). RESTRICTIONS Allean Hale maintains the literary rights to any unpublished writings in these papers. BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Constance Lurena Harlan Lemmon was born in Nebraska, March 27, 1887, the daughter of Thomas Oran Harlan and Lucy Alice Hiett Harlan. She attended Cotner College and in 1913 married Clarence Eugene Lemmon, a Disciples of Christ minister. Active in church work, Mrs. Lemon was on the State Board of Christian Churches, 1934-1937, and the Board of Trustees of United Christian Missionary Society, 1938-1944, as well as an honorary deaconess of the First Christian Church, Columbia, Missouri. She was active in the Christian Women s Fellowship and was superintendent of the senior high church school while C.E. Lemmon was minister in Columbia. Mrs. Lemmon died August 14, 1972. SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE The Constance Harlan Lemmon Papers contain personal and church related papers. It is subdivide into correspondence; calendars, calendar-diaries; international convention materials, sacrificial luncheon programs, other programs, Christian Women s Fellowship directories; First Christian Church materials, Columbia, Missouri; United Christian Missionary Society materials; financial material; genealogical data, citations; trip itineraries; guest book; funeral book; and miscellaneous. Chronological order was used whenever possible but many of the calendar-diary entries contained several dates; in this case, the entries were filed under the earliest date. Photographs were not filmed and the originals are at the Disciples of Christ Historical Society in Nashville, Tennessee.
