Bill Harper K9IW VICE PRESIDENT E. Glenn Wolf, Jr. N5RN SECRETARY/TREASURER The 2006 1st quarter meeting of the ADXA was held on 18 March 2006 at the home of our President, Earl Smith, N5ZM. Those that signed our sign in sheet included the following members: Glenn Wolf, N5RN, Dave Jacques, K5DV, Pat Patterson, W5VY, Bill Harper, K9IW, Jimmy Ballew, N5ZIV, Martin Hankins, W5HTY, Ollie Gade, W5GO, Rick Harris, AI5P, Lenny Mendel, K5OVC, and Earl Smith, N5ZM. Guests included Jim Burkhart, AD5BV, Patty Patterson, and Sharon Smith. The meeting was called to order by President Earl Smith, N5ZM, at 1:16. Earl introduced our guests. Earl thanked everyone involved for their help with the December meeting and indicated that the June 2006 meeting will be at the AECC office as well. Health and Welfare: It was reported that Susan Norris, wife of ADXA member and Arkansas Section Dickie, W5TIZ has dementia. Nothing new on JM Jolly W5ZXS (editors note: JM became a SK since this meeting). It was reported that Paul Wynne, AF5M is going to retire. Old Business: Dave, K5DV made a motion which was seconded by Martin, W5HTY, that we dispense with the reading of the minutes and accept them as printed in the ADXA newsletter. The motion carried. Glenn, N5RN, gave the Treasurer s report. K5DV motioned that the report be accepted. AI5P seconded and the motion carried. New Business: Earl mentioned the planned activities for Ham-Com which is scheduled for 9 & 10 June 2006. Earl then reviewed the dates for the remaining meetings for 2006. Rod s Pizza is the most likely location for the December meeting. A program for the December meeting is yet to be decided with AI5P moving to New Mexico.

The ADXA Quarterly Page 2 Glenn mentioned that the hosting service for the ADXA web site is changing and that we need to look for another service. After some discussion, it was decided that we should have a website and that we should allocate approximately $100 per year to this activity. Glenn will investigate and report back. It was suggested that everyone contact someone and ask them to attend our meeting. It works as Jim Burkhart came as a result of Pat sending a note to Jim. Earl opened up the meeting to the floor. Nobody had anything. The hat was passed to defray the meal costs to the club. K5DV, AI5P both made a motion to adjourn. The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 2:00. After the close of the meeting, N5RN collected dues for N5ZM, AD5BV, and N5ZIV. MARK YOUR CALENDARS These are the dates for future ADXA meetings. Please note the years as well as the date! The ADXA Quarterly Page 3 Words of Wisdom from the President Earl Smith, N5ZM Also Head honcho in charge of the Samples Kontest Klub Well here it is time for the 2 nd Quarter ADXA Meeting. It does creep up on you fast. I hope everyone has been able to work the ones they needed. Sharon and I would like to thank everyone that came to the 1 st Quarter meeting here at our house. We enjoyed the company of everyone. Please invite someone that has an interest in Dxing or contesting to one of our meetings. We would enjoy meeting them The W5DXCC at Ham Com will be the second weekend in June (9 th and 10 th ). The location has changed from Arlington to Plano and we are looking forward to some great presentations by excellent speakers. Bob K4UEE will be the featured speaker, at the DX Dinner, presenting the 3Y0X story. There will be DXCC Card Checking, a DX forum and plenty of other programs and activities to entertain and keep us busy. I hope you can make it. As far as what has been going on here at N5ZM, I have added to my RTTY and CW totals with confirmations of KH5, ST and Z2 on CW, P2 and ST on RTTY. I also received confirmation from VU4AN/VU3RYC for CW and RTTY via LoTW. This brings my current country totals to: 334 Phone, 330 CW and 321 RTTY. In January N5ZM entered the ARRL RTTY Round Up as a Multi-Single with Glenn N5RN and myself at the controls. We reclaimed our title as we set a new W/VE all time record. May brings some openings on 6 meters and the activity has been great. I have worked several Central American and Caribbean stations as well as the Canary Islands. It is official, Rick AI5P is moving this summer to New Mexico. So we wish him the best with his move. He says please stay in touch, his current email address will be good for some time. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again for the 2 nd Quarter meeting at Little Rock on the 17 th. Hope all of you can make it. Pat W5VY will be in charge so I am sure we will have a great time. Earl N5ZM.. K9IW - ADXA Vice President
