FEBRUARY 2015 615 Runneburg PO Box 354 Crosby TX 77532 www.fbccrosby.net Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions First Baptist Crosby supports the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Your giving helps reach thousands of unreached people groups with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thank you to everyone who contributed! We made our 2014-15 goal of $28,000! Please begin praying for our teams that are going on Spring Break mission trips! One group will go to Honduras to help build a coffee shop and minister to people in the city. This group will work with Gloria Sloan. We are collecting 1-pound bags of beans and rice for the Navajo trip. Feel free to bring your donations to the church office during business hours. One group will do some light construction, conduct a VBS, and minister to the Navajo people of northwest New Mexico.

THE BUTLER SERVES Journey: The Spiritual Formation of Multiplying Disciples If one person won one other person to Christ and invested one year in making a disciple of that person; then the two of them each won one person to Christ and invested one year in making disciples of those two; and then the four of them each won one person to Christ and made disciples of those four persons in one year; and this annual doubling of disciples continued year after year, then the entire population of our planet, currently at about 7.2 billion, would be won to Christ and discipled in the faith in..33 YEARS! That is simple math and that is the genius of making disciples! The Great Commission of our Lord, which is our marching orders, says this: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19) The goal of our church is this: To make disciples that make disciples that make disciples! Why is that our goal? Because that is our Lord s goal for this church and every other church on earth. For more than eleven years now, we have utilized a strategy to enlist, equip, and engage our members in personal evangelism. As you well know, that strategy is FAITH Sunday School Evangelism Strategy. FAITH, as we refer to it, is not a program or a study course. FAITH is our ongoing strategy to go across the street and around the world with the Gospel. FAITH is not going anywhere! FAITH is our tried, true, and proven strategy to GO WITH THE GOSPEL. It is now time for us to take the next step which is JOURNEY: The Spiritual Formation of Multiplying Disciples JOURNEY is destined to become our partner strategy to FAITH because JOURNEY is the next step the becoming a multiplying disciple step that we have been trying to accomplish with new believers, but with mixed results. We have had mixed results because we have had no clearly defined strategy to take them where they need to go. JOURNEY is that strategy. What is JOURNEY? JOURNEY is one-on-one discipleship that will connect a disciple and a discipler of the same sex, for about 30-40 weeks, for the two of them to work through the ten lessons in the JOURNEY discipleship manual and disciple-making process together. The purpose (quoting from the JOURNEY manual) is to: multiply evangelizing disciple makers. All of our ministerial staff will be participating, as is true of FAITH, and we will be providing training for you to become disciple makers using the JOURNEY manual and disciple-making processes. For now, let me share with you the ten Destinations of Spiritual Formation (these correspond to the ten lessons): 1. They know Christ as Lord and Savior. 2. They have an assurance of their salvation. 3. They have a thirst for God s Word and to grow spiritually. 4. They communicate with God and know Him personally. 5. They have been scripturally baptized and exhibit personal stewardship in the local church. 6. They can transfer biblical truths of Christianity in everyday life. 7. They have come to a point of forsaking all to follow Christ. 8. They model lifestyle behavior consistent with Scriptural teaching. 9. They are actively drawing non-believers to Christ. 10. They are effectively reproducing disciple makers one on one. So let s take the JOURNEY together!! You ll love it!! Robin the Butler

Next delivery day: Feb 17 th. CHOIR NOTES Can we talk? Christmas music was exciting and fun and we all got together and pushed for the deadline in December to present it to God and the church. Now, it is time to get back in the routine of being in choir rehearsal each week. It normally takes us about three weeks to get a special prepared. If you re not in rehearsal, it takes much longer!!! Come on back! You are missed! 50+ Don t forget if you have any ideas for trips or senior adult ministries, please give Bro. Gene or Jan a call in the church office. Volunteer Opportunities! Nehemiah Brothers: Ministry of Helpers Our Nehemiah Brothers do small upkeep jobs in the homes of our Single Parents and Senior Adults. Worship Tech volunteers for both Sunday morning services are needed! Training is coming soon! Run Easy Worship all you have to do is pay attention and click! Helpers to input service orders into Easy Worship each week. If we get 4 people to do this, you ll only serve once a month. Additional sound board operators ESPECIALLY in the 10:30 services. Camera operators for both services. (This is a HUGE need!!) I would like to have training for the sound board and Easy Worship soon. NOW is the time to sign up to serve in this important ministry! It will also be a good refresher for those who are currently serving, as we have some new equipment. Pam & I would like to thank those who brought us food after my surgery in December. I also thank each one who stepped up and filled in for me. I won t mention you by name, because I would probably miss someone! Let me just say that you, my church, bless Pam and me every day. We love you and appreciate your prayers. I m healing up pretty well. BUT, if you see me lifting anything over 15 pounds, tell me to step away! (I hope you re smiling as you read this!)

Thanks for all the support you provided her. With Love, Randy & Debbie Leatherwood and family Mike & Debbie Walker and family To the First Baptist Church: Thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness. The service was beautiful and a sincere celebration of two precious lives. The constant contact with Mrs. Lee and her prayers with me were so uplifting.
