Balances on February 28, 2013: General Fund $637.84; Restricted Fund $4,452.26. Total checking $5,090.10. Income for the month of February $100.00. go to the Nuns Build. Any amount would be appreciated. So far we have collected a total of $760.00 for the Nuns Build and spent a total of $804.00. BILLS & COMMUNICATIONS: The Metro Chapter has filed with the IRS Form 990-N. (Tax-Exempt). Check with your Council to make sure that this form has been filed. Deadline is May 15, 2013. If not filed in a timely matter Council could lose their tax-exempt status and must start the process all over to get it. The Louisiana Department of Revenue has issued a directive on fund raising. It is related to the collection of sales tax on fund raising. You must file an application for exemption, for each fund raiser, at least 2 weeks in advance of the fund raiser. To be safe, file it a month before so you will be sure to get the exemption. Revenue Ruling #13-002, February 25, 2013. La. R.S. 47:305.14 R-1048 Application for Exemption from Collection of Louisiana Sales Taxes Uncle Paul has sent out this information to Grand Knights and others. Make sure you get a copy of both. Tonight we received a donation of $100.00 for Nuns Build. Marquette Council cooked a meal for Nuns Build for $320.66. Marquette Council approved a donation of $200.00 to Nuns Build so that leaves a balance of $120.66 to reimburse Marquette Council. A motion to pay the bill of $120.66 to Marquette Council was made by Brother Paul Gagnet and second by Brother Donald Winchester. Motion passed by voice vote. SEMINARIAN REPORT: Brother Steve Hart reports that in order to get credit on the State Deputy award for points it must be received by March 31, 2013. If your Council is not going for the State Deputy award then you have until June 30, 2013. Since there is no longer the Accompano raffle the Seminarian Mission Fund has taken its place. You can have a second collection or other drive to collect for the Seminarians. We have been getting $50.00 and $100.00 checks from Councils, which is great. However, if you can take a portion of your fish fry dinner or other function and donate it to the seminarian that would be great. There are around 300 Councils in the state and if you could get $50.00 from each Council you can see how much that would bring in. Every Grand Knight was mailed a flyer with an envelope with suggestions on how to conduct a fund drive for the seminarians. DUES: Please ask your Council to pay their dues in a timely matter. If your Council has not paid their dues please bring your Council s check, in the amount of $25.00, made out to KC NEW ORLEANS METROPOLITAN CHAPTER, to the next meeting on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. You may also mail your dues to: KC METRO CHAPTER, 314 ST. CHARLES AVENUE, NEW ORLEANS, LA 70130. METRO CHAPTER MEETING MARCH 20, 2013 Page 2

Please contact Brother David at: drgrego@bellsouth.net Talk up membership at your Councils and bring along a member of your Council who may not have attended a Chapter meeting in the past. COMMITTEE REPORTS: MEMBERSHIP: Brother Paul Gagnet reports that the State Office has asked him to reintroduce himself to the State membership team. Not as the director but for the team. His responsibilities will be to aid and assist all Councils in Areas A B C. The state is having a horrible year and down 350 members. Intake goal is down 290. As of now there are 19 Councils that are suspended in the State. A total of 668 members that are still on the rosters in those 19 Councils. Don t forget to ask the men in your parish to join the Knights. Have an open house and invite families. Check men s club in the parish to see if anyone may be interested in joining the Knights. I have also been named Archdiocesan Coordinator on the Southshore for the 4 th Degree. If you still have the blue form 4 please through them away. They will not be accepted. The new color is purple. I have some here tonight and I can get more. Just give me a call. As membership director for the Metro Chapter we need more membership in the Chapter. Grand Knights received a video and pamphlet on AMERICAN WHEELCHAIR MISSION. This is a program to purchase wheelchairs for people with physical disabilities who have no means to acquire a wheelchair. You can have a Wheelchair Sunday parish drive in your church and help sponsor thousands of wheelchairs. Brand new wheelchairs would sell for $500.00 in a medical supply store. When purchased in lots of 280 wheelchairs this can be done for only $150.00 per wheelchair. METRO CHAPTER MEETING MARCH 20, 2013 Page 3
