NEWSLETTER Snows Women s Auxiliary November 2018 Snows Women s Auxiliary Formed November of 2012 We are a service and social organization existing so that the women of Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church can be involved with assisting others while enjoying social activities. SWA November, 2018 Newsletter President s Article Officers Effective July 1, 2018: President: Susann Boley Vice Pres: Shari Ford Rec. Sec: Barbara Reyes Treasurer: Cindy McLaughlin Corr. Sec: Anna Schuessler Sgt at Arms: Betty Mullins Newsletter Editor: Barbara Reyes Snows Women's Auxiliary Mission Statement: Promote sociability among members and fellowship among the church s congregation. Promote charitable service to the church with activities each year, such as but not limited to, money for Christmas cheer, scholarships, help to needy families, donation of clothing, food for the poor and needy, and any other such activity approved by the members. Assist in promoting and supporting the members of Snows Women s Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus, Council Number 4997. Hi ladies, This is a perfect time to GIVE THANKS; I d like to take this opportunity to thank those of our ladies who contributed much in the way of time, talent and treasure to recent parish events. Our Craft Fair and Bake Sale happened this last weekend in October. The event had a lot of vendors, all vendor spots were sold. A huge thanks to Cindy McLaughlin who chaired this event and to the ladies who volunteered to work. Cindy will have a financial report on the event at our next meeting. Fr. Bob Chorey s installation Mass and reception on Sunday, October 28th, were indeed special. Many members of the Church s Finance Council, Parish Council, and Staff were present to celebrate the liturgy. Afterward, there was a luncheon outside the north end of the school and the weather could not have been nicer. Thank you to all who helped set up, serve, and take down everything necessary for this event. Leftovers were sent to Catholic Charities by way of our parishioner Marie Baxter, who is the new CEO of Catholic Charities. I have invited her to become part of SWA as well! The Fall Festival on September 14th, involved an effort primarily of school parents and teachers, Knights of Columbus, and some SWA ladies who pitched in where needed. That fund raising and community building event was very successful on both counts. The funds raised at that event supports many parish, school and needy programs here at SNOWS. A huge thanks goes out to the many people who participated in order to make this event so successful. Bingo events continue to be very popular. Thank you to all of the Knights and SWA ladies for your commitment to this ongoing event. Our last Bingo event of the season, our November Bingo will be held on November 21st, is a joint K of C and SWA Bingo event, at which we will be awarding grocery store gift cards instead of cash. Invite your friends to come enjoy the fun!

If you were unable to help at any of these activities, please step forward next time you are asked. Making new friends and enhancing existing friendships is just a bonus when we work together. God s blessing be with all of you and your families. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. SWA Holiday Craft Fair and Bake Sale a Phenomenal Success! The first ever SWA Holiday Craft Fair and Bake Sale was a big success! We had over 40 vendors filling every available space in the Parish Center, from the big gathering room to the chapel, hallways and smaller meeting rooms. A wide variety of colorful and appealing handmade crafts were on sale along with tasty treats from the SWA, displayed and sold from a charming French bakery stand made by Lorie Johnson and her husband just for the craft fair. Fr. Bob and Fr. Mike stopped by, along with many parishioners and neighbors. Congrats to Chairperson Cindy McLaughlin and her hardworking Committee on a job well done! The SWA baked goods were a crowd favorite and profitable best sellers! SWA offerings included splendid home-baked goods and very special Christmas ornaments from Snows Church & Fr. Tony SWA ladies selling our fall and holiday wreaths

Notable Homes on the 2018 Harvest of Homes Tour A group of SWA ladies attended the 2018 Harvest of Homes Tour sponsored by the Historic Reno Preservation Society. This annual event was held on September 29 th this year and featured 6 historic homes ranging in age from 125 years old to 58 years young. A fun time was had by the SWA ladies, who loved seeing all the interesting features of these old but well-maintained Reno homes. The tour raises funds for the organization s Neighborhood Preservation Fund. Donations can be made on the HRPS website: www.historicreno.org.
