This service includes reading, music, foot (or hand) washing, communion and the stripping of the altar to remind us of the abandonment and loneliness of Jesus experienced during the long night in Gethsemane. March 30, 7:00pm Fellowship Hall The "Way of the Cross" is a modern adaptation of an old Christian tradition dating back to the fifth century. This service prepares us from Easter by allowing us to journey with Jesus during his final hours. The service consists of Scripture readings, art, reflections, prayers and music that guide us from the moment Jesus is condemned to death until he is laid in the tomb.

Hello, AUMC! Here's the latest from AUMC Kids. Our first annual AUMC Seder Meal was a huge success! Children, youth, and adults gathered together in the DC to experience (an abbreviated version of) the traditional Seder,
or the Passover meal from which Christians get the practice of communion. Pastor Tim Tatum led us through the Seder, and afterward we enjoyed a delicious chicken and rice dinner from Tazikis. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare for the meal and helped clean up afterward. We look forward to celebrating the Seder together again next year! We are more than halfway through Lenten season 2018, everyone! Big congratulations if you have kept up with our Lenten Calendar for Families thus far! On Tuesday we had the opportunity to get creative with a Coloring Prayer: "Draw or color a picture of your prayers to God." Today's Service should be pretty easy: "Hold the door open for someone today." Each day on the calendar rotates between fasting, prayer, and service. This is an opportunity to talk with your family about the significance of each of these practices - fasting, prayer, and service - during Lent. When we fast, we are sacrificing such a small part of ourselves and our routine when Jesus sacrificed everything for us. We grow closer to God when we pray, just like having conversation draws us closer to other people. We do acts of service for others so that we can practice showing God's love and generosity, and so that our community will know God's love through our small acts of kindness. Don't worry if some days aren't as successful as others - like everything, we're a work in progress. Don't give up! WHAT'S COMING UP This Sunday is Palm Sunday, and the children will be singing in both 10:30 services! They have been practicing with Ms. Kirstin for several weeks now, and it is always a joy when they share what they've been learning with us!
