I want to encourage you to take advantage of them. What a great blessing it is to have a national holiday of Thanksgiving! The Bible is filled with admonitions to be thankful. Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18). God wants us to be thankful people. When we re thankful we focus on what we have rather than what we don t have. We focus on the blessings of God. When we re not thankful, we miss them. Thanksgiving acknowledges that God has treated us better than we deserve! We become thankful people by daily practicing thanksgiving. Thanksgiving opens the door to joy, peace, and faith in your life! This holiday is not about a perfect meal or perfect family. It s about a perfect God! So use this week as an opportunity to spend five minutes every day giving thanks to God and thanking Him at every opportunity throughout the day. You will please God and experience contentment. And what an amazing blessing it is that the biggest holiday in our nation is a celebration of the coming of Christ! Emmanuel means God with us. I encourage you to let every part of the Christmas preparations and celebrations, as well as every decoration you see, focus your attention on His presence in you. His coming has changed everything for this life and for eternity. The celebration of His first coming reminds us that He is coming again in ultimate victory! One week later we ll celebrate a new year with the opportunity to assess where we are and where we want to go with Christ. It s an opportunity to seek His direction for the year and let Him lead us in the best year of our lives! Take a moment right now to ask Him to move in you throughout the holidays and help you take full advantage of the opportunities to rejoice and grow in Him!

GROUP LIFE Keith Frith Small Groups Pastor 334-702-6555 x232 grouplife@harvestdothan.com CONNECT. GROW. SERVE. OPEN SMALL GROUP Wednesdays at 6:45pm in the Worship Center. Join us for our new study, The Book of Colossians (by Louie Giglio). This is a great place to jump in! Childcare available. MARRIED COUPLES OPEN SMALL GROUP Wednesdays at 6:45pm in Meeting Room 2 (Building C, 2nd floor). During this time we will look at Biblical insights and resources that will help you become intentional about growing a thriving, life-long, God-honoring relationship. Childcare available. HEALING GROUP Jesus had a vibrant healing ministry, and He continues to heal today. It is vital that we also minister in healing and wholeness. Scripture commands believers to pray in faith and trust God for the outcome. We are currently in the process of forming a Healing Small Group. During our meeting time we will be looking at healing from a Biblical perspective. This is for anyone who needs healing or who just wants to learn what the Bible teaches about it. If you are interested or would like more information, please email grouplife@ harvestdothan.com. THANKSGIVING Please note: Groups will not be meeting Wednesday, November 21, and Thursday, November 22. DECEMBER 5 On Wednesday, December 5 (during the Women s Christmas Party), our men will be meeting together in the Fellowship Hall. Join us! HARVEST WORSHIP & PERFORMING ARTS Rusty Frith Director of Worship & Performing Arts Academy 334-702-6555 x247 worship@harvestdothan.com This Fall we have included a few new songs in our worship services. Freedom by Jesus Culture is a praise song that describes salvation and then tells of the power of Jesus name. The chorus of this song references 2 Corinthians 3:17. The song Nailed to the Cross by Rend Collective is another song that speaks of the deliverance that Jesus accomplished on the cross. There are several truths that believers can embrace as they learn the words of this praise song. Living Hope by Phil Wickham is a good description of how sin separated the world from God and how Jesus came to make a way for us to be restored to fellowship with our Heavenly Father. The third verse is a powerful declaration of Jesus resurrection and victory over death. When we sing out this last verse of Living Hope, you can feel the faith rising up in the congregation! Some of the hymns sung in the worship services this fall have been Fairest Lord Jesus, In Christ Alone, All Hail the Power of Jesus Name, Jesus Paid it All, and The Wonderful Cross. If you are new to hymns these are some of Harvest s favorites that teach great truths from the Bible in an easy way to learn and remember deep in your heart. 3
