Happy are those who take refuge in God. With hearts and hands and voices, let us praise the Lord. Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Roger Akeman *PRAYER OF THE DAY In life and in death you bless us, O God. When trouble overwhelms us, you save us. When sorrow overtakes us, you comfort us. When death overcomes us, you overcome death and raise us to new life. You promise us joy everlasting and, even now, give us glad hope and glimpses of your realm, which is to come when Christ makes all things new. For calling us your children and bestowing upon us such great love, we give you thanks, in Jesus name. Amen. *HYMN NO. 477 (Blue Hymnal) Ye Servants of God, Your Master Proclaim HANOVER PRAYER OF CONFESSION Gracious God, you call us your own children and cover us with your love. We would seek to be merciful as you are, and to show compassion as you do, but we fail to live the life to which we have been called. Forgive our sinful ways, tame our wayward wills, and make us more like Christ, until we are raised in perfection on the last day. The last open date is: December 31. THE FOOD PANTRY does not need any more egg cartons. They do need toilet paper. Thank you. THIS YEAR, FPC FAMILY MINISTRIES IS APPROACHING MIRACLE ON 4TH DIFFERENTLY. In the past few weeks, we have been reaching out to local shelters and organizations to learn what is truly needed this holiday season. It is often fun to buy toys and games for children and families, but we believe it is more important to meet the needs of our community members first. We ask that you consider making a contribution to this project by using the envelope provided in the bulletin. If you would like information about other ways to contribute, please contact Brad Thomas.

BOX TOPS - School is back in session, so keep cutting out those Box Tops and dropping them in the container located at the Donation Station downstairs. Last semester we collected 548 Box Tops for the four public elementary schools in Marietta. Let's see if we can pass that number this semester. The Box Tops convert to real money for the schools, so keep them coming! Thanks for your help. LIVE GENEROUSLY! CHRIST IMPOVERISHED HIMSELF FOR US. Now we have the opportunity to give from the riches Christ has given us to bless others. 1) Many of us complain about busy schedules, but we are often busy because our resources and talents make it possible for us to be doing so much! Where could you adjust your schedule to enrich the lives of others? Rather than seeing this as a conflict between family time and time for others, where could family work together to help others? 2) Consider your talents. Many times we use our gifts to benefit ourselves or our families. Which of these in your life could also bless others? 3) How is your financial generosity? A tithe, the giving of 10% to the church, has been a standard in the Christian tradition. If you are not giving at that level, consider a step forward towards a tithe. That may mean making other changes and can be a part of thoughtful stewardship for your whole life. 4) If God has blessed you with significant resources, consider exceeding the 10% goal. In addition to a generous pledge, where else could you help lift people from their poverty, spiritually or physically? 5) We can live generously after our mortal bodies fail through our wills. Helping fund an endowment at the church is a meaningful way to enrich the lives of others. Beware of what the Rev. Karl Travis calls the Law of Someday:... we re just married and getting ourselves established financially. Someday we ll get serious about our sharing.... our children are young, and they re hideously expensive! We re doing our best to stock up for their college educations. Someday we ll get serious about our sharing.... the children are gone and we have just a few years to invest for our retirement. Someday we ll get serious about our sharing.... we re retired, and now we live on a fixed income. Someday... Don t wait for someday. Take a step forward in living generously today! FLOWER MINISTRY: Would you like to bless someone with flowers? If you are going to visit a shut-in or sick person, come by the kitchen during Sip N Chat to pick up a vase of worship flowers. The deacons and some of their helpers will make sure the worship flowers get divided into smaller vases, but we want to let the whole congregation be involved in distributing the flowers. The person receiving flowers doesn t have to be a member. ADVENT IS COMING! EIGHT WEEKS OF GIVING IS ONE WAY WE PREPARE. THESE DONATIONS ASSIST OUR LOCAL FOOD PANTRY. Please take the insert and keep the items in mind as you do your weekly shopping. Drop them off in the baskets near the donation station or in the narthex. **Items for November 5 November 11: cereal and oatmeal. CLOTH IS BEST, BUT...Reusable, cloth shopping bags are the best bags to use when doing your grocery shopping. However, if you find yourself without your cloth bags, please consider getting paper bags, and then donating them to GoPacks! GoPacks regularly uses full size paper grocery bags for distribution of food during extended breaks, and for toiletries and school supplies through their Monthly Enhancements Feature. Donations of gently used paper bags are much appreciated, and can be placed in the marked bin at the Donation Station. Prayer List Updates Please (circle one) Add/Remove (name) to/from Monthly list.
