Gathering God calls us together to offer praise, acknowledge sin, and celebrate our adoption as forgiven children. Prelude Introit Son of God, Whose Heart Is Peace Hymn 425 At the sign you may stand. Hymn indicates the red pew hymnal Glory to God. Call to Worship Bold text is read or sung in unison. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love. The Lord makes a new covenant with us. We are God s people; the Lord is our God. Let us worship God. Opening Hymn Will You Come and Follow Me Hymn 726 Verse 1 solo Verse 2 solo Verse 3 all Verse 4 solo Verse 5 all Prayer of Confession Holy One, we confess that we are half-hearted followers of your full-hearted son. We live as those who are bound by our fears, rather than those who are freed by our hope. God of resurrection power, forgive us our sins, unbind us, and set us free to live now and forever for you. In your persistent Word, in our buried longing for life, in each wild and broken place, wash us clean, remind us whose we are, and give us your work to do.

Assurance of Forgiveness To all who turn from sin in sorrow, to all who turn to God in hope, this is God s Word of grace: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. This gift we have from God. Thanks be to God. Words of Welcome œ. œ. E ú.

Proclaiming the Word We encounter the Word in speech and song as we interpret and expound scripture. Time with Children All children are invited to worship with their families today. A special Bible story and craft time is available for children age three to grade one in Room 07 (Lower Level). Music Response Sing Alleluia, Allelu Mary Goetze Prayer for Illumination Holy God, Word made flesh, let us come to this Word open to being surprised. Silence our agendas; banish our assumptions; cast out our casual detachment. Confound our expectations; clear the cobwebs from our ears; penetrate the corners of our hearts with this word; and give us the strength to follow on the path you set before us. We know that you can, we pray that you will, and we wait with great anticipation. Amen. First Scripture Lesson Psalm 51 : 1 12 pg 520 Anthem Bonse Aba arr. Andrew Fischer All that sing have the right to be called the children of God. Second Scripture Lesson Luke 19 : 1 10 pg 82 Sermon Trying to See Jesus ily Yeh Christian Martin Sarah Tel

Thanksgiving We respond by presenting our offerings, setting the table, lifting prayers, and praising the triune God. Sermon Hymn Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God Hymn 423 Verse 1 choir Verse 2 choir Verse 3 all Affirmation of Faith A eclaration of Faith (PCUS 1977, PCUSA 1985) We recognize the work of God in Jesus power and authority. He did what only God can do. We also recognize the work of God in Jesus lowliness. When he lived as a servant and went humbly to his death, the greatness that belongs only to God was manifest. In both his majesty and lowliness Jesus is the eternal Son of God, God himself with us. Offertory aa Naa Se arr. Raymond Wise Give thanks, give thanks, give thanks to God. Because God is good and God s mercies endureth forever. oxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow, praise God all creatures here below, praise God above, ye heav nly host, praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
