Pastor Steve Jacobsen Church Office: 942-3168 / Pastor's Cell: 217-204-676 E-mail: RevJacobsen@Outlook.com Services: Saturday :30 PM & Sunday 9A.M. Sunday School: 10:1 A.M. September/October 2018 This picture of Blake Struble and Connor Gilmam (Dewain & Leona s grandson and member of St. John s in Kampsville) got left off of our last newsletter. Bible Options for everyone: Ephesians 6:12-13 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the Spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you will be able to take a stand on the evil day, and after you have done everything, to stand. Maybe it was for the best that the above photo was misplaced when making the last newsletter. The image of those two youth battling it out for first base helps us understand what it means to struggle for something and to be able to stand afterwards. God s Word in Ephesians, as we ve read the last few weeks, is not about an earthly physical struggle. No we are struggling against spiritual forces and need the help that Ephesians 6 talks about our faith and the Word of God and all that these will bring to our lives. In the coming weeks we will turn more to our gospel readings from Mark, and hear from Jesus there how we need the strength that only He can provide. As the school year resumes let us not stop coming to receive those gifts from our Lord in word and sacrament. Also consider joining a Bible. Two times are currently available for adults and we have some people interested in a third option. Please consider how you can continue to grow in your faith, and help others to do the same with you. Think of church as your spiritual gym and help us find a time to strengthen one another for the struggle that God s Word has proclaimed, so that we can stand firm together. The Sunday morning Adult Bible study is finishing our study of Ephesians, and will then pick a new study, let Pastor know if you have any ideas. The Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible resumes on September th at 9 AM. We have had some interest in a Wednesday night class, anyone else interested please talk to Pastor. You are invited to... Sunday School at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church! Sunday school is from 10:1am to 11:1am on Sunday mornings. We spend the first 10 minutes as a whole group learning new songs and singing familiar ones. The next 0 minutes are spent in the classroom learning a Bible story. Your being there would make Sunday School better! (Parents, consider coming and staying for Bible as well.) College Addresses If someone from your home is at college or recently moved please give the church an address for them so we can continue to care for them (Newletters, cookies etc). God bless, Pastor Steve Our attendance for the past two months was: 2 40 7 40 8/2-26 8/18-19 10 8/11-12 9 8/ 37 7/28-29 6 7/21-22 9:00 7/14-1 7/8 6/30-7/1 :30 10 14 2 46 43 Ladies day out at Anastasia great group!
