MISSION MOMENT Pray for the staff and volunteers at our Church of God Home who endeavor to provide care and refreshment to the residents they serve in the Name of Christ especially during what for many of the residents is a difficult holiday season. Pray that our ministry together for worship on January 6 will be a blessing to residents and staff alike. ALTAR FLOWER CHART for 2014 has been posted. Please neatly print your information for the Sundays you select to sponsor the flowers. As noted in a December/January newsletter article on page 7, Royer s Flowers has signed a contract to provide the altar flowers at a price of $30 a week. Please place your check with flower notation on the memo line or put your money in an envelope marked flowers and place it in the offering plate. Thank you. HEARING ASSISTED DEVICES are available for your use while worshiping in the Sanctuary. If you have such a need to assist you in hearing the Service, please contact sound technician Chris Campbell or head usher John Sheriff. CHURCH ENVELOPES for 2014 are ready for distribution. Please pick your envelopes up in the choir room on the left side of the hall as you approach the Fellowship Hall. We have recently started using new software for the giving records and labels. Please excuse any errors on the labels, and we hope to have all the corrections in place for future use. If there is a particular change to your name or address that you would like to mention, please bring it to the attention of Ray Kunkel. If you are not currently using giving envelopes and would like to do so, please speak with Ray Kunkel or email him at jak2428@comcast.net. ROTATION SUNDAY SCHOOL is looking for a person or persons to teach children using computers. We have software for all the lessons and depending upon how many teachers we have will determine the teaching schedule. For example...if we have only one teacher, that teacher would teach only two Sundays every month during the Sunday School hour. If we get two computer teachers, each teacher would teach two Sundays per month but only six times a year instead of 12. (Having two or three teachers is our goal, and the teachers can work out the schedule.) For more of an explanation as to what teaching with computers looks like, you may talk to Karen Neidigh, Pastor Greg or Bryan Dellinger. MR. LLOYD MARKLE will observe his birthday on December 24. He resides at The Church of God Home, 801 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. CGGC A.C.T.S. TEAMS FOR 2014 There are many opportunities in 2014 to serve on an A.C.T.S. Team (Advancing Christ Through Service). Teams will be going to Haiti, Brazil, Venezuela, Sweden, Pittsburgh, PA and the Southwest. If you would like to be a part of this exciting ministry opportunity which will transform lives, please contact Lance Finley or Don Dennison at (419) 424-1961. You may also go on the CGGC website http:/www.cggc.org/ministries/transformational-ministries/acts-teams/. THANK YOU to the congregation for the prayers offered on our behalf and for the cards we received on the Home going of our mother, Mrs. Arlene Miller. The Hamman Family THANK YOU MESSAGES concerning the Christmas cantata: A huge thank you is extended to both the junior choir, senior choir, musicians, narrator, parents of the Junior Choir for bringing their children, and all who helped with Cookies & Conversation. The cantata was absolutely beautiful and conveyed a meaningful message. The amount of time and effort spent preparing was evident. -Karen Sheriff Hallelujah to the Lamb of God! It was an evening to worship our Lord. The voices of our choirs rang out in jubilee and Mike and Elaine were fantastic! For each one who had a part in the cantata, we give you many thanks just beautiful. May we all rejoice with them. -Shirley McConnell POINSETTIAS have been placed in the front of the church by Glenn and Marge Crum in honor of their families Daughter Sara Gross and Grandchildren David and Kelle Baldwin, and Rebecca and Meredith Gross in memory of John and Freda Gross Ross and Reba Kell in memory of dear deceased friends and family members

Since there are several Churches of God in Carlisle, our church will be distinguished by the use of the word or symbol FIRST (1st), i.e. Carlisle First Church of God or First Church of God, Carlisle. We will also post it on our Web site at www.carlislecog.org. More importantly, the Council has developed a system whereby we will endeavor to telephone each family or person when Sunday Morning services are cancelled. But no system is perfect! When in doubt, call a member of the Council before attempting to drive to church in snowy or icy conditions. We tend to cancel Wednesday evening services more frequently because snow-covered roads and slippery highways are much more treacherous to drive on at night. If the Carlisle School District cancels classes on a Wednesday or dismisses early on a Wednesday because of weather conditions, all Family Night Services will be automatically cancelled. Otherwise, the decision to cancel Family Night services will be made no later than 4:45 p.m. We will post cancellations on the Web site and on the aforementioned TV stations. If you have any questions, call either the Pastor, the Music Director, the EDGE Leaders, or the BLAST Leaders. Regardless of our decision, please use your best judgment concerning your safety when weather conditions are deteriorating. If you have reservations about driving, it may be advisable to stay home that morning or that night.
