OPENING HYMN: God of Tempest ELW #400 OPENING PRAYER: O God, on this day you open the hearts of your faithful people by sending into us your Holy Spirit. COMMUNION HYMN LET US BREAK BREAD TOGETHER 471 Let us break bread together on our knees (repeat) When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun, O Lord, have mercy on me. Let us drink wine together on our knees (repeat) When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun, O Lord, have mercy on me. Let us praise God together on our knees (repeat) When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun, O Lord, have mercy on me. God s Holy Word A reading from Paul s letter to the Colossians 3:12 17 As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God! Psalm 130 recited responsively Prayer after Communion AM: Loving God, by your Spirit we are born anew, and you nourish us like newborns with this holy food, by which we grow into salvation. Give us grace to live as your risen daughters and sons, shining in the world with your marvelous light, until you gather all creation to the heavenly table where Christ reigns in glory forever. Amen. Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD. LORD, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, LORD, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; My soul waits for the LORD more than those who keep watch wait for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem. It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities. 3

Gospel Acclamation page 205 HOLY GOSPEL A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark 1: 14-20 Glory to you, O Lord! Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near, repent, and believe in the good news." As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, "Follow me and I will make you fish for people." And immediately they left their nets and followed him. As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets. Immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and followed him. The Gospel of the Lord Praise to you, O Christ! Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Invitation to Communion The disciples knew the Lord Jesus in the breaking of the bread. Come to this table where you are known and loved. COMMUNION SONG Lamb of God pg. 208 Sermon 4

Pastor: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God? All: I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. Pastor: Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? All: I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. (congregation is seated) Pastor: You have made public profession of your faith. Do you intend to continue in the covenant God made with you in holy baptism: to live among God's faithful people, to hear the word of God and share in the Lord's supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth? Each confirmand responds: I do, and I ask God to help and guide me. Pastor: People of God, do you promise to support Bryce, Leah, Eva and Veronica and will you pray for them in their new life in Christ? All: We do, and we ask God to help and guide us. (families of the confirmands stand beside their family member) Let us pray. We give you thanks, O God, that through water and the Holy Spirit you give us new birth, cleanse us from sin, and raise us to eternal life. Father in Heaven, for Jesus sake, stir up in in Ava, Bryce, Leah, and Veronica the gift of your Holy Spirit: confirm her faith, guide her life, empower her in her serving, give her patience in suffering and bring her to everlasting life. Confirmand: Amen. Rick Reynolds: Let us rejoice with our sisters in Christ. Congregation: We rejoice with you in the life of baptism. Together we will give thanks and praise to God and proclaim the good news to all the world. SHARING OF PEACE - The peace of the Lord be with you...and also with you! PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION Hear us O God... Your Mercy is Great! OFFERING OFFERTORY Offering Prayer THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD As the Grains of Wheat - Refrain AM: Let us pray. Blessed are you, O God, ruler of heaven and earth. Day by day you shower us with blessings. As you have raised us to new life in Christ, give us glad and generous hearts, ready to praise you and to respond to those in need, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen! 5

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING PREFACE It is indeed right, our duty and our joy we praise and join their unending hymn: THANKSGIVING AT THE TABLE - II In the night in which he was betrayed,... Do this in remembrance of me. HYMN OF THE DAY Take My Life ELW # 685 PRESENTATION (the confirmands are led by the cross-bearer to the back of the sanctuary) Pastor: Dear friends, we give thanks for the gift of baptism and for these young people, one with us in the body of Christ, who are making public affirmation of their baptism. Rick Reynolds: I now present these young people who desire to make public affirmation of their baptism. Please step forward as your name is called.) Leah Jade Kowalski, Bryce Cameron Reynolds, Ava Gabrielle Ruff and Veronica Grace-Marie Ruoff. Pastor: Let us pray. Merciful God, we thank you for these sisters whom you have made your own by water and the Word in baptism. You have called them to yourself, enlightened them with the gifts of your Spirit, and nourished them in the community of faith. Uphold your servants in the gifts and promises of baptism, and unite the hearts of all whom you have brought to new birth. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen. PROFESSION OF FAITH Pastor: I ask you to profess your faith in Christ Jesus, reject sin, and confess the faith of the church. Pastor: Do you renounce the devil and all the forces that defy God, the powers of this world that rebel against God, and the ways of sin that draw you from God? Confirmands: I renounce them. (All stand with our Confirmands) Pastor: Do you believe in God the Father? All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. 6
