INTRODUCTORY RITES Introduction to the Liturgy of the Day All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. All: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And with your spirit. The gospel today tells us about the poor widow who gave her two last coins to the temple treasury. All of us are called upon to consider how we protect the vulnerable and what we are prepared to give to the Lord Jesus... [pause] Penitential Rite Lord Jesus, helper of the needy: Lord, have mercy. Christ Jesus, lover of the poor: Christ, have mercy. Lord Jesus, bread of life: Lord, have mercy. May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. COLLECT Let us pray. Pause for silent prayer Almighty and merciful God, graciously keep from us all adversity, so that, unhindered in mind and body alike, we may pursue in freedom of heart the things that are yours. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. OR: God, our provider, you are the orphan s hope and the widow s bread. Strengthen our faith, that with simplicity of heart we may come to trust in you alone and hold back nothing in serving you. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever Last printed 11/8/2018 7:07 PM; Page 2 of 9

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION Let us pray. Pause for silent prayer, if this has not preceded Nourished by this sacred gift, O Lord, we give you thanks and beseech your mercy, that, by the pouring forth of your Spirit, the grace of integrity may endure in those your heavenly power has entered. Through Christ our Lord. OR: Strengthened by this holy food, O Lord, we give you thanks and seek your mercy. May those who have been touched by the power of this sacrament continue to live in sincerity and truth through the outpouring of your Spirit, We make our prayer in the name of Jesus, the Lord. BLESSING OF OUR VETERANS, CURRENT MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES As we look forward to Veterans Day, we want all who have served our country in the past to be assured that we remember you, and are grateful for your service. For those who are serving our great country now, and for the families who support you, know how deeply we appreciate your sacrifice. Would all veterans, active military and their families, and all people working at the military bases in Ventura County, please stand. Last printed 11/8/2018 7:07 PM; Page 6 of 9

Deacon: Please extend your hands over them in blessing: Gracious God, we acknowledge you as our strong right arm, ever seeking to bring peace and harmony between nations and peoples. Please bless those who have served our country for the generous gift of their lives Safely guide and watch over those who serve now. May they be preserved from all harm, find strength in moments of difficult service, be guided by wise officers, and find good companions to accompany them in their labors. May their families, who so often have to wait upon the needs of the service, be comforted when they are far away. May the efforts of all who labor along with the soldiers on our military bases bear the fruit of safety for our soldiers and our world. Wise and faithful God, preserve all the world from warfare, help us to live in a world where peace is founded on justice for all. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
