Uttarakhand State Education Research and Training Council was established in 2002 at Narendra Nagar, the historical city of Garhwal. The first agricultural university of the country is at Pant Nagar which was established on 17th November, 1960 by the Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. It is known as a Govind Ballabh Pant agricultural and technology university. Chipko movement was started on 1st March, 1973 from Gopeshwar from Chamoli District, but in 1974 the labourers of Simon Sports Goods factory of Allahabad came to cut off the trees in protest of that the Chipko was born at Rari village. The biggest plant of the world i.e. Chilli was planted by Sri Kishan Chand Joshi at Almora. It was 660 cm. high, 93 cm broad, with 250 cm. of its circumference. It is written in the Gunnies book of World record. Dr. Harshwanti Bhist is renowned for Nanda Devi women expedition of 1981. She was awarded the Arjun Puraskar. Bacchendri Pal is the first Indian woman who climbed the Mt. Everest. She completed the Mt. Everest expendition on 23rd May, 1984. To establish the World record in Hindi Shorthand as well as its name in the Gunnies Book of the World record is Dr. Gopal Dutt Bhist of Almora district. Mountain Art centre was established in 1968 at Delhi by Mohan Upretti. In 2000, Dehradun Railway Station completed its 100 years of establishment. Ranchandi temple of Kumaon is situated at Katramal Almora. Tehri Dam Project is fifth in the world and the biggest in the Asia. Bimal industry of Dhalwala is the first industry of Uttarakhand who got the 1st certificate of ISO 14001 and ISO 9002. Nanda Devi has been declared the second Biological Reserved Area. The known Uttarakhand Maula Ram painting Museum is located at Sri Nagar. Badri Nath Dham, the one of the four religious places of India is situated in Chamoli district. Mussoorie of Uttarakhand has been assigned as a beautiful hill station of the world. Valley of flowers is situated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Doon Public School one of the known Public schools of the country was founded by C. R. Das. First I. T.
