SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION CURRICULUM STANDARDS THEME: In the Sacrament of Penance we celebrate God s love and forgiveness. Knowing that the Holy Spirit will help us live as Jesus. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS First Commandment Explain that we must put God first in our life. CCC # 2131-2132 Second Commandment Emphasize that God s name is holy and we must respect it and not use it thoughtlessly. CCC #2162 Third Commandment Teach that we have the duty of participating in Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation. CCC #1264 Fourth Commandment Explain that children must obey their parents or guardians. CCC #2231 - Human beings need to be cared for by their parents. - God gave us parents to love and care for us. They make decisions that protect us and help us to grow up well. In turn, we are to obey them and love them. II-84

- The use of good manners is a form of showing respect for others and themselves. Fifth Commandment Stress that as Catholics, we are called to be peacemakers in our homes and schools. Sixth Commandment Help the children to understand that the Sacrament of Marriage makes holy the promise of a man and woman to love each other as husband and wife.
