C h u r c h L i f e U p d a t e s Calvary s Newest Members: Calvary is pleased to welcome Brent and Sherry Riddle to our church family. Brent and Sherry have been worshiping and serving faithfully here for some time. But we rejoice in their decision to unite officially with our congregation by statement of faith. If you d like to send them a note, their address is: 109 Hutchens St., Mount Airy NC 27030. Deacon Nominations: The deadline to submit nominations for the office of deacon is Sunday, August 20. Here at Calvary, both men and women are eligible to serve, providing that they are at least 21 years of age, that they have been members of the church for at least two years, and that they possess the qualities described in passages like Acts 6:3 and 1 Timothy 3:1-12. Back-to-School for Children and Youth: It s almost time for kids to head back to school and that means that it s almost time for Calvary s ministry for children and youth to get back in gear! Kids in the 1 st through 5 th grade will have a Back-to-School Pool Party from Noon to 2 PM on Saturday, August 26, at the home of Corey and Ashley Mills. Middle and High School youth will launch their new school year with a Kick-Off event on Sunday, August 27, that will feature food, games and fellowship at Hanging Rock State Park. Please be sure to spread the word to all the kids in your life. And please join us in praying for a great year of school and ministry! Calvary s Got Talent: This year s Mid-Week Ministry will kick-off on Wednesday, September 6, with the third annual Calvary s Got Talent Show. We want to see your talent, no matter how unusual it is. So make plans now to read a poem, sing a song, perform a skit, or share that crazy party trick that always embarrasses your spouse. To sign up, call the church office; talk to Jan Varney, or put your name on the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the children s Sunday School hallway.
