Scotts Creek Baptist Church God s People seeking God s Presence and God s Power Dear Family of God, I am writing this letter on Sunday evening after a wonderful day at the church. There is no way I can tell each of you how wonderful it was to be recognized for fifty years of ministry. I know that I don t deserve recognition for anything, but I do thank God for His mercy and grace that has kept me going through all these years. I am grateful to every speaker that gave a testimony of my relationship with them. I am so grateful for my precious wife and the hours she put into getting things together. She, Joyce, and Bethany have been like Secret Agents. Also, a million thanks to all who worked to decorate and get everything together for the great day. I don t want to miss anyone who helped with everything, but I know that Cathie Hooper, Bethany Hawkins, Debbie Blazer, Dianne Cochran and probably others worked entire days to get everything ready. Thank you to Richard Young for all the technical help with gathering the videos and pictures and thank you to the choir for coming out for a special practice and for all the wonderful music you sang. I would have to say to the whole congregation, you know how to keep a secret!! I realize it was homecoming day, but even more thanks for allowing that to be the day for the recognition. A special thank you to all my family that were there and Judy s brother and his wife. Jason, Sonja and their families have always been a major part of my ministry. My Mother and Daddy have always been a great part of my ministry too. We will be hosting a Trunk or Treat event, Wednesday, October 31 beginning at 6:30 PM. This will be an outreach to our surrounding communities, so we are in need of more cars. Please sign the clipboard in the vestibule letting us know if you can help. There will also be snacks served under the picnic shelter. Please make plans to attend this evening of fall fun. It was an honor to have brother Milton Hollifield, from the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, to speak. What a wonderful blessing for Roger and Trudy Wall to come from South Carolina. Of course Earl Holden has been like a brother to me since 1973 when I first came to Ochre Hill. All the videos were deeply appreciated. Dylan Haynes, my grandson, was the best. A special thanks to Eddie Deitz for traveling so far to be the Master of Ceremonies. Well, I could go on and on about the special day, but I think you know my heart. I love all of you at Scotts Creek and thank God for the opportunity to be your pastor. I hope I can halfway live up to what you all heard. Hey, let s all plunge into the Forty Days of Purpose with all our hearts. I believe God is going to do something great in all of our lives. This is about evangelism. We should be winning souls to Jesus. It is also about worshiping Jesus. It is about growing relationships with each other. Don t let anything keep you from being apart of the study. The month of October is Pastor Appreciation Month. We would like to take the opportunity Sunday morning, October 21st, to acknowledge Pastor J. D. and Judy for all their hard work and dedication to our church. A basket for cards and letters of appreciation will be available in the vestibule. Yours In Christ Jesus Pastor J. D.
