NOVEMBER 2018 From Pastor Gary... We are entering into our fall season with a lot of exciting things happening here at Balfour Baptist Church. We were given the honor of glorifying the Lord with our communion service. We were reminded of the spiritual gifts God intends for each of us to use here at Balfour. We were blessed to have Victory Side Quartet sing for us last Sunday evening. The presence of the Lord could be felt by all in attendance. This Sunday we will address the subject of "The Coming of Judgment Day" in both services. Then on October 28 th, we will gather during the Sunday School Hour to be taught by Murray Tillis (a missionary to the Jews). All adult Sunday School Classes will meet in the sanctuary at 9:45am. Then at the 11:00am service Murray Tillis will bring Part I of the message entitled "Devoted to Israel". At the 6:30pm service, he will preach Part II of this message. We are making plans for Operation Christmas Child to begin very soon. Mark and I are very excited to announce that on Sunday, November 18 th, at 5:00pm we will be having a fellowship dinner at AVS. The growth of our church has lead us to finding a location that will support our church family. All of our members and all of our guest are invited to attend. Let's make this a special and joyous time. From Pastor Mark... Praise God from whom all blessings flow! It sure has been nice with the cooler temperatures the past few days. It s kind of a reminder that the colder temperatures are just around the corner. My Prayer is that we won t let that cause us to keep on keeping on for the Kingdom Of God as it cools down. I m grateful and thankful for the many blessings that y all have taken out of your time for the Pastor Appreciation cards and gifts that you have given in the name of Jesus and most of all THE PRAYERS that we keep doing what God has called us to do here at Balfour. I m looking forward to our time together for our Church fellowship meal at AVS on the 18th of November at 5 PM. The Lord has truly Blessed us here at Balfour with all the kids and youth that are coming to the Awana and Youth programs. Jennifer is doing an amazing job with our students in the annex and to ALL our Awana staff y all just amaze me week after week coming in and pouring out your love to these kids for the Kingdom of God! It s kind of crazy to think that we have 105 people here this past Wednesday evening with the Awana and Youth program along with the volunteers that make it happen. If I haven t told y all lately, I m humbled by your sacrifice and love that you are pouring out in the name of Jesus! Just want to take a minute and speak on our children s worship ministry team that pours out Sunday in and Sunday out to our children. You also amaze me by your willingness to help serve and teach these kids about the love of Jesus, I know that it gets tuff and some days we re all ready to throw our hands up and say that s enough, then it hits us that the Lord has given us an opportunity to reach kids for His Kingdom and HE gives us the strength to carry on. We know that we are making a difference in their lives as we keep seeing more and more kids coming to know Jesus as their Savior and are being baptized in HIS name. I want our children s worship team to know that YOU are a vital part of what s taking place here at Balfour and for this I m thankful for your help and love in this part of ministry. To the wonderful seasoned folk of our Church that lets me go on trips with them and have fun driving the bus! Even if we have to use an umbrella while riding in it! But seriously I love all of y all and am blessed y all let me have fun with ya! To the ladies of Balfour, thanks for letting us in on the blessing you had with Holly Sweat and the area ladies ministry y all are doing. Much love and prayers to all of you! In her book, Live a Praying Life, Jenifer Kennedy Dean describes prayer like this: Prayer is opening our lives to God, acknowledging our total dependence on Him. It is an attitude of receptivity in which we live every moment. It is being open to Him at all times. It is living in the presence of God, always in the process of being reshaped and recreated by Him. We all need FOCUSED prayer, but when we find ourselves praying all during the day; at home, at work, while driving and even doing the dishes; it is then we find the intimacy that develops over time with our Lord and Savior. It is then we realize we are living in the presence of God and He is reshaping us. If you do not have a Prayer Pocket and would like one please contact us at prayerpockets@gmail.com or contact Bobbie Frazier 336-736-8911 or 336-953-4151 SENIOR ADULT NEWS Tuesday, November 13 th, the seniors will be going to Supreme Fruit Cake and eating at Mrs. Lacy's Magnolia House in Sanford.
