Heartland Kids College (HKC) is for children who have completed K-5th grades. HKC is not your typical VBS! Children will get to choose their course of study for the week! These classes offer a wide range of options for students to choose. Children will not only have fun in these classes but they will learn how to use these skills to glorify God in their daily life. Please note some classes have age requirements. Age restrictions are based on this past school year. Following their first two classes we will have a large group time of praise and worship concluding with students being divided into small groups by grade to study the our Bible passage for the night. Abracadabra! Learn magic tricks and techniques to impress your friends and family and share about Jesus! Limited to 3rd - 5th Adventure Recreation: Don t sit down! Adventure recreation will get you involved in a variety of fun team games. From popular yard games to games that will make a splash, you ll not want to miss this class! Limited to K - 3rd Amazing Race Join Pastor Nathan in this class we will learn the basics of running including warm up, stretch, hydration, pacing, sprinting, and taking care of our bodies. Wear your tennis shoes because we will do some fun runs too. We will also learn how our salvation through Jesus is like a run with a start, journey, and finish line. The goal of this class is to help kids love running as a way of taking care of our bodies and be ready for the most important race of all- our spiritual race with Jesus. Limited to 2nd 5th Archery: God s Arrows Take aim at this exciting opportunity to learn about archery. We will learn the basics of archery and use youth bow and arrows. This class is very safe and lots of fun all while we learn about hitting God s mark for our lives. Limited to 3rd - 5th Balloons with a Twist! Learn the basics of balloon tying and find out how this fun hobby can be a blessing to others! Please know this class is all about balloons and balloons do pop! Limited to 2nd 5th Baseball This class is sure to be a hit! Join us as we teach the fundamentals of baseball and understand how we can glorify God through the game. Participants will need to bring their own baseball/softball glove. Basketball Skills & Drills All the greats started somewhere! In this class we will learn the basic fundamentals of basketball. Dribbling, passing, shooting, offense, and defense will be our focus, plus classic basketball games and 3-on-3 matches. Plus, learn the importance of being a team player both on and off the court. Being a Godly Girl in a Messy World We will focus on faith, family, friends, and boys. God created you for a purpose, and we will discuss who you were meant to be. We will have a biblical study that focuses on answers to real-life issues like: what to do about drama, where to find a good friend, how to be a good friend, how God wants to be the very first love of your life, characterbuilding inner-beauty tips, and fun outer-beauty tips. Limited to 4th - 5th Grade Girls Boot Camp-Armor of God God calls us His soldiers and soldiers need the right equipment. Come and explore with us the armor God has made just for you to fight the battles in life and to be victorious! Limited to 3rd - 5th Cheer Basics* In this class you will learn cheerleading motions, jumps, cheers, and chants. You will practice a dance that will be performed at the graduation service. You and your classmates will also learn about teamwork and encouragement by studying Nehemiah chapter 3 and share what we have learned during graduation. Crafty Kids If you like to be creative and aren't afraid to get your hands a little messy then this class is for you. No need to spend hours on Pintrest, we will have fun and create crafts you will be proud to display. Join us to see how God s power and love can be displayed by the world of our hands. Dodgeball For years Dodgeball has been a Heartland Kids favorite. Join this class to unite with other dodgeball enthusiast to take the classic game to new levels of fun and excitement. We will put some new twist on the original for some fun dodgeball adventures! Electric God Learn about unseen forces and learn how they relate to God with a different experiment each night using electricity! From hidden energy in a glass of water to harnessing the power of nature, students will see that just because some things can t be seen, doesn't mean that they are any less powerful. Students will also spend the week assembling a robot that will compete in the Thursday night robot mania where each students' robot will maneuver across an obstacle course to victory. Football Skills & Drills Strap up your athletic shoes & bring your "A" game because we are hitting the Gridiron! We will learn how to be a team player and leader on and off the field! We will learn how to properly throw, catch and punt a football, learn basic fundamentals of defense and run through some exciting and fun filled drills that are among the favorites of the Pros! Finally, since we will have no tackling or physical play we will combine our new skills and have a friendly Flag football game among each other! Hope you can join in the fun! Limited to 2nd 5th Gifted for God What's your favorite hobby? Whether it is a sport or dancing or music, you couldn't do these without having a talent for it. God has given us gifts to be successful in His kingdom. In this class you will discover what they are in order to be effective for doing God's work. Every Christian has a spiritual gift, so come and discover yours!! Limited to 3rd-5th God s Masterpiece Do you ever wonder who God really is? Do you know why He made you or what He thinks of you? Do you like to paint? If your answer is "yes" to any of those questions, this is the class for you! We will search the Bible for answers to these important questions and create a unique work of art for you to take home so that you can remember what you learned about being "God's Masterpiece." Limited to 2nd-5th Good Creations God chose to fill the earth with different kinds of life, "and God saw that it was good." Throughout the week we will look at some of the different plants and animals He created. Then we will discuss how these "good" creations can serve as reminders on how He wants us to live. Limited to K-3rd Heartland Laboratory God created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. Pure science will always point us back to our loving Creator. Join us in the Heartland Laboratory as we perform science experiments to learn about the wonders of science and the wonders of Jesus. Intro to Photography Learning tips and tricks the professional photographers use to better enhance our own picture taking skills. Including a night with a professional photographer with equipment and photo booth. If you have a digital camera available please bring. Heartland has limited digital cameras that can be provided. Limited to 2nd 5th May The Faith Be With You We know the "Greatest story Ever Told" is the truth of God's word, but Star Wars is defiantly on the top 10 list! Join us for Jedi training and teaching as we learn about God's promises to us in scripture and how Jesus fulfilled hose promises. No need to bring you own light saber, we will make one in class! Limited to Kindergarten - 2nd My Shield Of Faith Doug Lamb has been sharing his passion for God s word with Heartland Kids for many Years. He has started every one of his classes with the shields of faith. What is my shield of faith, why do I need it, and what does it mean for me. Join us as we explore our Shield of Faith and how God wants to use this in our lives. Limited to 2nd - 5th Nerf Wars All of us have enjoyed shooting at a target or each other with a Nerf gun. But have you ever shot a Nerf Sniper gun at a moving target or hid in an obstacle course with your teammates trying to defeat the other team in a Nerf War? Now you can! We are going to have a blast playing games like capture the flag, last boy/girl standing, and target shooting. Come with a whole lot of excitement because we are going to have a great time! If you want to bring your own gun you can. We will provide the bullets! Oh the Drama* Let your dramatic side come out to play in this fun fast-paced theatre class! Each night we will uncover God s love and promises for us through skits and games while mastering the basics of theatre simultaneously. Then lights up! on Graduation Night where we will showcase our acting skills for friends and family to enjoy! Pitch Perfect for Jesus* If you are a person that loves to sing, dance, and twirl streamers for Jesus this is the class for you! We will be incorporating singing with dance and finding your grove by choreographing Christian music with style. Come join us for a crazy fun night. Princess Prep School Welcome to the world of Princess with a Purpose, where once upon a time can become reality! Based on God s truths, this royal journey teaches young girls what it means to become a true, forever princess as a daughter of the King of kings. Limited to K - 2nd Grade Girls Slime Time Join us to experience the hottest craze of 2017-18... SLIME! You will make a new slime each night, play with it, and yes, TAKE IT HOME! Learn how Jesus can be seen and experienced through this ooey-gooey class.
Sewing on Purpose Learn the basics of sewing. From hand stiches to machine work we will cover the bases and create a project for you and one to be sent to a child on the mission field. Limited to 2nd 5th Soccer Skills & Drills You will get a kick out of this class! In this class we will learn the basic fundamentals of Soccer. Dribbling, passing, shooting, offense, and defense will be our focus. Plus, learn the importance of being a team player both on and off the court. Limited to K-3 rd Sweet Eats In Sweet Eats we will be learning the basics of cake baking. We will learn how to make our own frosting, and use bags and tips to decorate your own cupcakes. We will learn how God can use these skills to be a blessing to others. The last night we will take a trip to deliver some of our goodies. Parents need to sign a permission slip with instructor to allow students to leave HWC campus. Tie Dyeing For Christ Prayer is powerful; learn how to pray as God intended. Learn how to give back to others by tie dying for Mission trips like Ecuador. Our Youth Mission trip will take dresses that are made from sheets to give back to others. Get the opportunity to make your own T-shirt while learning about prayer. Be a blessing to someone else by giving back to others while having fun and hands on tie dying experience!! Ultimate Frisbee For ultimate fun and excitement check out this class! We will focus on teaching techniques of throwing and catching and rules of ultimate Frisbee. If you love a challenge and fun competition then this class is for you! Limited to 2nd - 5th * Classes with an asterisk will be sharing on Sunday, July 1st for the Graduation Ceremony at 6:00pm.
