Thank you to everyone who is helping us reach our goals for New Life s future. The displays in the narthex will be updated monthly to help you track our progress in this campaign. Campaign envelopes are part of the regular mailing of monthly offering envelopes. If you do not receive monthly offering envelopes but would like campaign envelopes, please contact the church office. You can also use online giving to fulfill pledge payments. Go to www.newlifebolingbrook.org and click on Giving in upper right corner. Putting to Use what the Good Lord Gave Us Stewardship Emphasis 2018 As we turn on the heat in our home and make plans for the Thanksgiving holiday, here at New Life we set a few November Sundays a part to explore the unique combination of Spiritual Gifts the Good Lord has given each one of us in our Baptism. We hope at the end each of us will have a new window into our set of spiritual gifts and begin wondering how God is calling us to put them to use at this time and in this place. We also take time to encourage all New Lifers to consider for another year, how giving back to God financially will be a part of their financial plan. We encourage all New Lifers to make a commitment of time, talent, and finances and to possibly grow in their giving by 1%. How we ll do this: On Sunday November 4 all New Lifers will take a Spiritual Gifts Discovery assessment in worship. If you happen to be out of town, you ll still receive an email for an online version that same day. On Sunday November 11, all who took the Spiritual Gifts Discovery will receive a packet highlighting their unique combination of Spiritual Gifts as well as a list of possible ways to put those gifts to use. On Sunday November 18, everyone will have the opportunity to bring forward a pledge of time, talent, and finances and offer it all to God. Together we are putting to use what the Good Lord gave us! It is an amazing gift of giving to God and our community. Giving with you, The Stewardship Committee Veteran s Day Collection Veteran's Day - November 11 - a Sunday this year - is a special day to remember all who have served our country. New Life appreciates all of our veterans for their service. We often take so many of our freedoms for granted however those freedoms aren't free, and veterans understand the cost. Many veterans need help and this is where New Life comes in to provide a few necessities to make their life a little easier. There will be collection boxes in the narthex until Sunday November 11. Veterans Day Sunday, November 11 All veterans are invited to join us for worship this day. Service will include recognition, blessing and special music. Veterans are encouraged to wear the insignia of their armed service. Fall Youth Offering Our youth continue to boldly act through their choice of a ministry to support with their fall youth offerings. Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton was chosen for the fall. One of the functions of this organization is assisting veterans in getting a job. The youth funds will be given to provide job training classes ($25) and the tools like work boots ($50) to help a veteran be prepared to get a job. Anyone can donate to this effort if they are so moved. Offerings can be placed in the basket on the altar on Sunday mornings or write Midwest Shelter in the check memo. This collection will continue through November 18. The impact our youth make to benefit these veterans will be announced at the end of the month. We are so excited to announce a new partnership with United Way of Will County. We are blessed to have this building as a place that can serve our community in many different ways. One of those needs is baby wellness items such as diapers, wipes, baby wash and diaper cream. Did you know that these items are NOT covered by Women Infant Children (WIC) which is the subsidized food assistance program. And most food pantries do not have diapers or a very small quantity and selection of sizes. To help fill this gap, United Way has supplied the diapers and we have provided the space! Our Diaper Depot will be open on the 2 nd and 4 th Sunday of every month from 6:00-8:00 pm. On our opening night in October we served 6 families! These diapers are free and there is no residency restrictions. Visitors can receive one pre-packaged bundle of diapers for each child per visit. Nancy Leiting is our lead volunteer and has been putting in countless hours to be ready to welcome others. We are inviting more volunteers to demonstrate the welcoming presence of our church to help meet their needs.
