Order of Worship 9 & 11:15 AM November 11, 2018 Liturgist: 9 & 11:15 AM - Rev. Dr. J. D. Landis GREETINGS & SHARING OF ANNOUNCEMENTS The Prelude is a signal to end our conversations and prepare our hearts for worship. PRELUDE O Day of Peace Overture arr. J. Black Sol Foster, whistle; Rene Johnson, narrator; Grace Marra, soprano CALL TO WORSHIP: (Isaiah 2:3-4) Leader: Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. People: He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths. Leader: The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. People: He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. Leader: They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. ALL: Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. *OPENING HYMN For the Healing of the Nations #428 UNISON PRAYER UMH #421 Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM (9 AM) READING Sacred Courage Rene Johnson ANTHEM Who are the Brave? arr. J. Martin Combined Choirs and Orchestra Grace Marra, directing PASTORAL PRAYER & THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who

trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. *HYMN This Is My Song #437 READING The Innocents Lost Rene Johnson ANTHEM Prayer for Peace Michael Helman Carillon Choir Jantz Black, directing OFFERING OF TITHES & GIFTS Prayer of Dedication Rev. Unafraid by Adam Hamilton: Hamilton shows how believer and unbeliever alike can develop sustaining spiritual practices and embrace Jesus' recurring counsel, "Do not be afraid." For anyone struggling with fear or wondering how communities can thrive in troubled times, this book offers a message full of practical solutions. Before Amen by Max Lucado: Going to the heart of biblical prayer, this book offers hope for doubts and confidence, even for prayer wimps. Distilling prayers in the Bible down to one pocket-sized prayer, Lucado reminds readers that prayer is just a heartfelt conversation between God and his child. God's Little Creatures DVD: Featuring the voices of Martin Sheen and Amy Grant comes the story of Noah s Ark like you've never seen before. With rough waters ahead, a father-son duo scramble to sneak onto the boat. When the son gets left behind, the ark must turn around to save him. Page 6
