St. Rose of Lima Parish Mission Statement We, the Faithful of Saint Rose of Lima Parish, are a Catholic Community of believers living our Baptismal calling in union with the Pope and the Bishop of the Diocese of Scranton. Created in the image of God the Father, nourished by His Son, Jesus, in both the Word and Eucharist, and sustained by the Holy Spirit, we strive to bear witness to the love of God as experienced in our daily lives. Word of Life Attention: Liturgical Ministers Reminder: The 2018-2019 Ministry Availability Forms mailed last week to current St. Rose of Lima and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Acolytes, Extraordinary Minsters of Holy Communion, and Lectors are due in St. Rose Parish Office by Tuesday, September 4 so we may prepare the October serving schedules. There is a correction in the start date for the Summer Mass Schedule. Please see the insert in today s bulletin for the revised dates. Community Meal S All are welcome to the Weekly Community Meal, prepared by St. Francis Kitchen, Scranton, and served at St. Rose Family Center (lower church) at 12 Noon each Thursday. C E Breakfast Buffet Grattan Singer Hose Company will hold their Monthly Breakfast Buffet on Sunday, September 2 from 8 am to noon at 702 Homestead Street, Simpson. Adults, $8, Children under 12, $5. Prayer Service St. John Neumann Parish will hold an Evening of Prayer, The Broken Body of Christ: A Time to Pray for the Victims of Child Sexual Abuse by Clergy on Wednesday, September 5 from 6-8 pm at Nativity Church, 633 Orchard Street, Scranton. The service will begin with Prayer, Scripture, Reflection and will include Quiet Time and Adoration. All are invited to this evening of prayer to sit together with The Broken Body of Christ. Come any time that is convenient for you. Marian Devotion and Healing Mass A First Friday Marian Devotion and Healing Mass will be held at St. Lucy s Church, 949 Scranton Street, Scranton on September 7 beginning with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 pm. The Mass begins at 7 pm and includes healing prayers and an anointing. Music will be provided by Ernie Pappa. All are invited to come to deepen their devotion to Mary and to pray for healing and for peace in the world. Please come, Mary is Expecting you!! VIRTUS Training sessions for the Diocesan-sponsored VIRTUS: Protecting God s Children for Adults Program will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 9 am at LaSalle Academy, Jessup. National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children A Memorial Service to commemorate the more than 60 million children who have lost their lives to legal abortion since 1973 will be held on Saturday, September 8 at 1:00 pm at St. Peter s Cathedral Monument of Our Lady Madonna of the Streets, Scranton. Mass and Anointing of the Sick Mary, Mother of God Parish, North Scranton, will celebrate Mass and Anointing of the Sick at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William Street, North Scranton on Saturday, September 15 at 11:00 am. Counseling Services The Diocese of Scranton offers compassionate counseling in a safe, comfortable environment where your privacy is always respected. Counseling is about self-discovery and can be used for personal growth or when distressing conditions exist and you need a bit of extra support. Help is available. Anyone who struggles with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions or a variety of emotional or psychological conditions is welcome.
