Holy Family Parish Nov 20, 2016 34rd Sunday in Ordinary Time ~ WEEKEND MASS TIMES AT HOLY FAMILY: SATURDAY AT 6PM AND SUNDAY AT 11:15AM ~ Weekday Mass at Holy Family: Wednesday 9:30 am & Friday at 11:00 am With a Grateful Heart We Give Thanks! These past few weeks have been very busy and wonderful for us here in our community. We had a very successful CWL Christmas Tea & Sale. This is the occasion that seems to start the season here at Holy Family, and we congratulate the CWL on another great me, with special thanks to Francine Robichaud and her team who lead the Tea & Sale. Coats for Cumberland is set up in our gathering area; already the box has been emp ed over and over. Thank you to everyone who supports this program dona ng winter coats, mi ens and scarves. The Gi series hosted by the Mary, Mother of Mercy Prayer Group, has closed. The gi s and fruits of the Holy Spirit are peace, joy, wisdom, understanding, counsel (right judgement), courage, reverence, wonder and awe, pa ence, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self control and faithfulness. These gi s are available to everyone who seeks a closer rela onship with God. Thank you Viola Corbe, Deacon Howard Gotell and all the leaders of The Gi series for your dedica on in sharing your own gi s and fruits of the Holy Spirit with all. Father Keith finished the Bible Study, A Journey through the Bible. The response was posi ve from the par cipants. This par cular Bible Study highlights the interest in our Parish for a variety of faithbased study opportuni es. If you have an idea of services, studies or events that you think might add value to our faith community, please let us know at the office or speak with Glenna or Father Keith. Thank you to everyone who joined in many ways to make our fall here filled with life, love and God s presence in many different ways, while we con nue to be of service to each other. Offer Prayers for the Holy Souls in Purgatory The month of November is also know as the month that we pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory those who have died in grace, but may not have made sa sfac on for their sins. Purgatory is that state in which those who have died in grace, but who have not fully atoned for the temporal punishments resul ng from their sins, finish their atonement before entering Heaven. A soul in Purgatory may suffer, but has the assurance that he will ul mately enter Heaven when his purifica on is complete. Purgatory is an expression of God's love, His desire to cleanse our souls of all that might keep us from experiencing the fullness of His joy. It is a good thing to pray for the dead throughout the year, especially on the anniversary of their death, and during this month November, the Month of the Holy Souls. We should devote some me every day to prayer for the dead. We could offer up masses, pray some tradi onal prayers, pray a rosary, visit the cemetery, or read some Sacred Scripture. We believe that those Holy Souls for whom we pray and offer acts of charity will con nue to pray for us a er they have been released from Purgatory. Thus, giving us the assurance they will remember us before the throne of God when we are most in need of prayers. Take a bulletin to someone who isn't at Mass. Go out and share the good news!
