GOSPEL IDENTITY
CREATION OUR IDENTITY So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created IMAGE OF GOD them. (Gen. 1:27)
CREATION OUR IDENTITY Then God said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule. (Gen. 1:26a) Be fruitful and increase in number (Gen. 1:28a) The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Gen. 2:15) So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. (Gen. 2:19) IMAGE OF GOD LIKENESS And the Lord God commanded the man, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die. (Gen. 2:16-17)
CREATION OUR IDENTITY IMAGE OF GOD Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day (Gen. 3:8a) LIKENESS NEARNESS
FALL OUR IDENTITY Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the garden? The woman said to the serpent, We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die. TEMPTATION You will not certainly die, the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. (Gen. 3:1-6)
FALL OUR IDENTITY Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord BROKEN IMAGE OF GOD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of LIKENESS the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, Where are you? He answered, I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid. (Gen. 3:7-10)

FALL OUR IDENTITY The attempt to be ourselves without God FALSE SELF
FALL OUR IDENTITY The attempt to be ourselves without God vain imaginations (Rom. 1:21 KJV) For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. (Rom. 7:8) As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without FALSE SELF hope and without God in the world. (Eph. 2:1, 12)
REDEMPTION JESUS IDENTITY The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
REDEMPTION JESUS IDENTITY The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn IMAGE OF GOD LIKENESS over all creation. (Col. 1:15)
REDEMPTION JESUS IDENTITY The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) IMAGE OF GOD LIKENESS The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. (Col. 1:15) NEARNESS I and the Father are one. (John 10:30)
REDEMPTION JESUS IDENTITY He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:2) You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. (Rom. 5:6) FOR US We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. (Rom. 6:4)
REDEMPTION OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Cor. 5:17) God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. (Rom. 8:29 The Message) RESTORING IMAGE OF GOD LIKENESS And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Cor. 3:18)
REDEMPTION OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Eph. 2:13) Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. (1 Cor. 12:27) And let us consider how we may spur one another on RESTORING IMAGE OF GOD LIKENESS toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but NEARNESS encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Heb. 10:24-25)
REDEMPTION OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no RESTORING IMAGE OF GOD LIKENESS hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it NEARNESS patiently. (Rom. 8:22-25)
NEW CREATION OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2) And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Look! God s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. (Rev. 21:3) RESTORED IMAGE OF GOD LIKENESS NEARNESS They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. (Rev. 22:4)
