From the desk of Father... Page 2 November 4, 2018 Welcome November.. In November, we honor our saints, we remember our dead and our veterans, and we vote. We are called to be saints. In the early Church the Christians were called saints, and many gave their lives for their faith. For some, we have their names - St. Bishop Oscar Romero, St. Peter, St. Marie Goretti - but there are so many whose names are not known to us. We strive to be like Christ, maybe not in the front page news, but in the every day things in our lives. What we do, we do for love of Christ. Such is our journey to sainthood. We remember the dead - not in a morbid way - but as a way to keep our family and loved ones who have gone on before us, in our hearts. The tradition of remembering our dead, by having their pictures on an altar, is very meaningful. Our families are the key importance in our lives. In so many ways they have guided us in the lives that we now live. There is a beautiful saying in the movie, Coco that says, Remember Me. It is good to remember the dead. And don t forget to vote. We are blessed in these United States of America that we have the freedom to vote. This is a freedom that was fought for by so many brave men and women. We honor our veterans this month, and what can be a greater way to thank them for their service than by voting?! It is our duty and responsibility, as citizens of this great country, to be a part of making good decisions for laws and for candidates who will carry out these laws. Be a responsible citizens and VOTE! Knight of Columbus will convene to remember the deceased members of the Riverside Council, No 1638, next Sunday, November 11th. The 11:30am mass will serve as Council 1638 s Annual Memorial Mass for deceased members. Knights and their families are invited in particular to assist at this Holy Mass during the month of all souls. St. Anne s Sewdality News. There will be a meeting of the St. Anne s Sewdality on Thursday, November 8th, from 9:00am - noon in the school library.
