GOD S PEACE CORP Matthew 5:9 Matthew 5:9 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Making peace is one of the dominant ideas of the Bible. Scripture contains four hundred direct references to peace, and many more indirect ones. The Bible opens with peace in the Garden of Eden and closes with peace in eternity. Today, we do not have economic peace, religious peace, racial peace, social peace, family peace, or personal peace. There seems to be no end of marches, sit-ins, rallies, protests, demonstrations, riots, and wars. Disagreement, conflict, and lawsuits are the order of the day. The essential fact to comprehend is that the peace about which Jesus speaks is more than the absence of conflict and strife; it is the presence of righteousness. I. The Difficulty Of Peace. James 4:1 4 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? desires hedonon hedonism self-satisfaction is the supreme goal in life.

You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Isaiah 57:20-21 20 But evil people are like the angry sea, which cannot rest, whose waves toss up waste and mud. 21 "There is no peace for evil people," says my God. NCV Mark 7:20-23 20 And He said, "What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man." II. The Derivation Of Peace Philippians 4:9

Romans 15:33 33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:11 11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. III. The Delivery Of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Acts 10:36 36 You know the message that God has sent to the people of Israel is the Good News that peace has come through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Lord of all people! Hebrews 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Romans 5:1-5

THE DUTY OF PEACEMAKERS PURSUE PEACE Romans 14:19 19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. Hebrews 12:14 14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: PURSUE peace with all men Romans 12:18 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. V. THE DIVISIVENESS OF PEACEMAKERS This is not a peace at any price. It is not brought about by compromise with the truth. This proclamation may bring a struggle in the peacemakers heart. It may be when a person welcomes the Prince of Peace as their own Savior and Lord that it brings DIVISION within his own family. The very next Beatitude focuses on this. NOT PEACE BUT PERSECUTION. Matthew 10:34-39 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 35 For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her motherin-law'; 36 and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'

And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. VI. THE DESCENDANTS OF PEACEMAKERS SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF GOD. Matthew 5:9 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Both huios (SON) and teknon (CHILD)are used in the New Testament to speak of believers' relationship to God. teknon (child) is a term of tender affection and endearment as well as of relationship. huios (son) expresses the dignity and honor of the relationship of a child to his parents.
