Saint Francis of Assisi Church 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time November 11, 2018 Dear Parishioners, On this occasion of our Parish s 40 th Anniversary, we already accomplished three of our four goals for the Church. With your generous support and in consultation with the Parish Councils and Committees, first, the Church kneelers were refurbished and second, a new, permanent Baptismal Font was custom built and installed. The third step is the erection of the new Church Crucifix above the Altar in the Sanctuary. The fourth is in November. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal, which is the official guide for the Church Liturgy, states, "There is to be a cross, with the figure of Christ Crucified upon it, clearly visible to the assembled congregation. It is appropriate such a cross, which calls to mind for the faithful the saving Passion of the Lord, remain visible even outside of liturgical celebrations" (No. 308). The statue of the Risen Christ without the Cross has been moved to the Parish Hall. The Church directs us to have a prominent Crucifix visible above the Altar of Sacrifice, for good reasons. The Crucifix and the Altar are in relation to each other. The central focus is the Crucifix, the Tabernacle, and the Altar of Sacrifice. In the Sanctuary are the Tabernacle, the Consecrated Oils, the Baptismal Font, the Book of the Gospels, and the Priest s Chair. The Catholic Church uses signs, symbols, and rituals. The CRUCIFIX is THE symbol of our Catholic Faith. Every day and every Sunday, we offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The sum total of the MISSION of Christ is in the Crucifix. On the Cross Jesus said, It is accomplished. The most glorified form of Jesus Christ our Savior while on this earth is the Crucifixion. As we gaze at it, we contemplate the Face of Christ Crucified. Hung prominently in our Parish Center is our beautiful Risen Christ statue visible for all to see as one enters our Parish Hall. For more documentation, you can read the articles on our Church Website under Church Crucifix. Sincerely in the Lord, Father Richard York, Pastor

Saint Francis of Assisi Church Pastor s Message November 7, 2018 Dear Parishioners, Let us pray for our Deceased Family, Parishioners, and Friends. O Loving Father and Savior, send your Angels to carry the souls of my loved ones from this earth to the heavenly place of eternal and everlasting life. Let our family and friends who have passed be reunited in joy. Forgive any wrongs they may have committed through human weakness and welcome them into the warm embrace of your unending peace. God our Father, Your Power brings us to birth, Your Providence guides our lives, and by Your Command we return to dust. But by Your Sacrifice, Lord, those who die live in Your Presence, their lives change but do not end. Lord, I pray in hope for my family, relatives, friends, and for all the dead known to You alone. In your company, may they rejoice in Your Kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your Praise forever and ever. Go forth Christian Soul, out of this world, In the Name of God the Father Almighty, Who created you; In the Name of Jesus Christ, Who suffered for you; In the Name of the Holy Spirit, Who sanctified you; In the Name of the holy and glorious Mary, Mother of God; In the Name of Angels, Archangels, Thrones, Dominions, Cherubim, Seraphim; In the Name of the Patriarchs and Prophets, Of the holy Apostles and Evangelists, Of the holy Martyrs, and of all the Saints of God; May your place be this day in peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord Amen Sincerely in the Lord, Fr. Richard York, your Pastor
