Purification is necessary in our lives. And God's word must be the basis of cleansing. Do you clean our rooms everyday? Do you keep all your things in the right place very neatly? If you do not clean it regularly, what will be the possible problems that you can face? Spider Webs, cockroaches, mosquitoes, dust etc. Don't we lose interest to study in a room that is so dirty? So to gain inspiration and confidence, regular cleaning is a must. Let us learn about King Jehoshaphat who encouraged reformation among his people. Chronicles 17: 1-9; 19: 4-11

1 Who were the parents of Jehoshaphat? (17:1-2; 20:31) 2 Jehoshaphat was the king of which nation? (Israel/Judah) (v.2) 3...was with Jehoshaphat. (v.3) 4 What were the gifts that the King received along with the whole of Judah? (v.6) 5 Who were the three persons the king sent to the town to teach the Word? (v.7,8,9) 6 What did the King remove from Judah, because his heart was devoted to the Lord? (v.6) 7 What did the teachers of the Law take in their hands while they taught in the towns? (v.9) 8 "Consider carefully what you do", who said to whom? (2 Chron. 19: 5,6) 9 Who hates Injustice, partiality and bribery? (v.7) 10 You must faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the Lord. Who said to whom? Jehoshaphat: Meaning of the name is God is my judge Jerusalem: Capital city of Judah. After king Solomon's reign, the kingdom of Israel became divided into two. The northern kingdom was called Israel. Southern Kingdom was called Judah. The capital of Judah was Samaria David his father: This is meant as forefather. Baal, Asherah: Foreign Gods. King Jehoshaphat removed all these idols and its worship from his kingdom. The Book of the Law: The book that contained all the commandments. God gave it to Moses ion Mount Sinai. King Jehoshaphat removed all idol worship from among his people. He instructed the priests, judges, Levites and the princes to administer according to the Law of God. In this way, the King was able to reform the nation. He was strict about carrying the Law of the Lord and teaching them to the people.

Recitation of Memory verse 1 God's word must be the foundation of reformation. Write down the instructions of King Jehoshaphat to the people he appointed and sent to teach. 2 Those who trust and fear God will respect and obey god's commandments. Read II Chronicles 19:6 and discuss what is written there, among your classmates 3 Jehoshaphat steered Judah to the God of Israel, whom his forefathers. Write down the names of his forefathers in order: Jehoshaphat, Asa,, Rehoboam, David (Matthew 1:6,7) Our forefathers were also committed to the reformation of the Malankara Church. After the reformation, we were known as the Malankara Marthoma Syrian Church of Malabar. The Holy Qurbana was once celebrated only in the Syriac language. Palakunnathu Abraham Malpan and Kaithayil Geevarghese Malpan lead the reforms. They translated the Order of service in Malayalam and celebrated them. The Malayalam Order of Service has been followed since 1836.

Main reformations that took place in the Malankara Church 1 The Holy Qurbana service was done in Malayalam 2 Prayers to the dead and the saints were avoided. 3 Prayers for the salvation of the dead souls were stopped 4- The Order of the Holy Qurbana was changed accordingly. 5- Private confessions of sins to the priest was removed, instead public confessional prayers were included When we pray in the language we know, we understand the true meaning while we pray. Jesus Christ is the only mediator between us and God according to the Word of God. Therefore we pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ. We must be able to live according to God's word. Let us sing a song we sing after the Evangelion is read during the Holy Qurbana service. "Upadesham shasna shiksha needhiyil abhyasam Ee vachanathal, adiyarku labhipan Krupayullavanaya, paramapithave vegam nee Roohayale, aruleedenam ennum"
