UPG Care Packages for College Students and Military Members In mid-november, Light of Christ has traditionally sent care packages of baked goods to college students and military members. This year, packages will be sent to all UPG college students & service members! Please submit your college student s or military member s address by November 1 st to either church office or by email to Lynn Terry at lynnjt680@verizon.net You might wonder How can I help? Members can help in these ways: Donate baked goods and treats from November 3-10. Please drop off at the LoC office treats can include baked goods, hard candies and gum. Donate money for postage to mail the packages Help assemble care packages on November 10 (10AM in the LoC Fellowship Hall) Please call the church office or contact Lynn Terry if you can help or with any questions. Thank you for your support! ELCA GOOD GIFTS GOATS -- FINAL TOTALS! During 2018, the UPG has sponsored God s Global Barnyard, a program of ELCA World Hunger. Our offering will provide farming families in developing countries with the gift of goats. The final totals are in! Over $2000 was raised! Grand total = $2074 Fresh milk from a goat provides nutrition for children and their families and, as goats increase in number, they can transform a community. Thank you for your generosity! 3
2018 Ingathering Donations Thank you for supporting the Christmas Ingathering with your contributions! To honor our commitment, we still need: 15 hand lotion or body lotion 4 women s personal care items 18 dozen diapers - sizes 4 & 5 56 shampoos (adults or babies) Please bring your items to either campus by Sunday, December 2. There is a basket outside the St. Peter s office and in the LoC narthex. Thank you for your donations to help others in need. Senior Choir at Light of Christ October Donations of Pet Food and Supplies During the month of October, we will be collecting pet food and supplies to be shared with our local animal shelter, The Center for Animal Health & Welfare. Please consider lending a hand to God s beautiful creatures and those who care for them. The following items are needed and can be brought to either campus: Canned dog/cat food Dry cat/dog food Laundry soap and bleach Winter Coat Collection Cat litter Cat toys Paper towels Please consider a short-term commitment to sing with the choir as we prepare for our 1st anniversary celebration on October 28th at 9:30 AM. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 in the choir room on the 2nd floor of the Education building. Two rehearsals remain before the 28th. We need your help - please join us. The God s Work.Our Hands Team is collecting winter coats in good condition men s, women s, children s in all sizes on both campuses of the UPG. Please check your closets and bring in coats you no longer need. Coats can be brought to either campus (table by the memorial board at St. Peter s or in the LoC narthex). Thank you! 4
The preschool children, families & teachers went to Unangst's Pumpkin Patch last week. They enjoyed a hayride, the pumpkin farm and Goats Up Close! A great day of showing our students the beauty of God s creation. Goats Up Close! 5

Friendly's Family Fun Night and Basket Raffle This annual (and very popular!) event will be held on November 13, 2018 from 5:00-8:00p.m. at the Friendly's at 3099 William Penn Highway. MLCCC is seeking donations for our basket raffle. Please see or email Lynn Terry, lynnjt680@vreizon.net, if you are interested in donating an item for our raffle. Proceeds from this event will go toward enhancing the MLCCC preschool play yards. Suggested items are gift cards to area restaurants, grocery stores or a book store; tickets to local sporting events; homemade items such as baby afghans, knitted items and fleece blankets. If you would like to create your own themed basket that would be awesome and very much appreciated. We are thankful for any donations you can provide. 8
WORKIN AT THE CAR WASH THE UPG CAR WASH, that is! The car wash postponed from our September 9th Day of Service was held on Saturday, October 6th. Free will contributions totaled $223 and will help support the Center for Animal Health and Welfare. Thank you to all our great youth and ALL the volunteers! 9
ROAD CLOSURES for Runner s World Half Marathon Sunday Oct 21 6AM to Noon The City of Bethlehem is hosting the Runner s World Half Marathon on October 19-21, 2018. There will be road closures on Saturday, October 20 and Sunday October 21. Roads will begin to close around 6am and all roads will reopen by 12pm both days.
