2018 ANNUAL MEETING EDITION What s Inside SLA Annual Meeting Voting Results.. Photos..... Volunteer Recognition..... 2018 SLA and LSCA Directors.. Christmas Decoration Winners..... Advertisers. 1 3 & 4 2 5 8 & 9 2, 6, 7, & 10 SLA President s Message by Mike Hayes Dear Fellow Residents: The Lake Sherwood Acres (LSA) annual meeting was held on January 23, 2018. We had a pretty good turnout for this session based upon recent years. It would be nice to have a larger group, as this is the most important meeting for the residents to participate in the management of the subdivision. In this meeting, the 2018 Budget and the related assessments were approved with a 94% favorable vote. While that sounds great, we only had about 130+ ballots cast. This means that about 34% of the residents actually voted. While we would never expect all to vote, it would be nice to see a higher percentage cast their vote. Once again, we struggled to get a quorum. We need to have 30% each of Lake and Off- Lake residents to cast their vote. Many did vote by proxy. Reaching the quorum is important, as the Annual Meeting cannot be held unless we reach the quorum level of 30%. If the quorum is not reached, we have to prepare another ballot and set another meeting date. We must send our ballot out and give 30 days notice for another meeting. We therefore would incur additional expense and be well into 2018 before we could actually conduct another Annual Meeting. We really need these ballots in as soon as possible. As you know you can vote by proxy and mail, email, or deliver the ballot by hand. I know that each of the Board Members of the Sherwood Lake Association (SLA) and Lake Sherwood Club Association (LSCA) appreciate the positive vote and continued support of our residents. Hopefully, 2018 will be a quieter year than the last two years and the weather will warm up and allow us to get out and enjoy the subdivision. Voting Results for 2018 Below are the results of the resident voting for the 2018 assessment and directors for the boards of the SLA and the LSCA. A total of 115 ballots were cast (remember that lake lots have three votes). This is 10 fewer than last year, and represents a turnout of only 36.7%. However, we are pleased to point out that your vote supported the 2018 Budget and Assessment by a margin of 94% to 6%. Thank you for your support. 2018 Assessment Assessment Votes Participation Off Lake Lake SLA Operations $76 $249 For 168 94% Off Lake 35.8% SLA Special Projects $0 $0 Against 10 6% Lake 39.5% Security $95 $96 Blank 1 1% Total 36.7% Club Operations* $128 $128 Total 179 100% Club Special Projects $116 $116 Total $415 $567 * Plus 3% State Tax

Volunteer Recognition by Mike Hayes As part of his opening comments at the Annual Meeting, SLA President Mike Hayes praised the many volunteers that improve Lake Sherwood by serving on the SLA and LSCA Boards and their committees, and in helping with the Club recreation and swimming activities. Each year a Recognition Board is made and displayed in the clubhouse to recognize those volunteers. Below is a photo of the 2017 Volunteer Recognition board. If you would like to join the effort to improve Lake Sherwood, please contact any director (page 5) and let them know of your interest. Page 2

2018 Annual Meeting Mike Hayes, SLA President, opens the meeting and praises LSA s volunteerism. Buddy Amoroso, District 8 Councilman and SLA resident, introduces the guest speaker from DPW. Kyle Huffstickler, DPW Director of Maintenance, discusses the department s mission and an update on the Weiner Creek work. La Tefy Schoen, LSCA President, presents the Club Annual Report. Don Frattini, SLA Vice President, comments on the Membership Report. He reported that 100% of the 2017 dues had been paid. Doug Pacas, SLA Treasurer, presented the 2017 SLA financials. Page 3
