Then we were pulling out our decorations and going to our favorite stores to see and buy the new thing to add glitter and glory to offices, homes, the church and even our cars. But now we are packing those things away and finding ourselves limited on storage space; even pressed to discard some of those treasures. Putting on and taking off is not only an experience at Christmas but at any time you do a décor makeover. God s Word gives us important guidance about our spiritual lives along the same vein of thought; you took off your former way of life, the old man that is corrupted by deceitful desires; you are being renewed in the spirit of your minds; you put on the new man, the one created according to God s likeness in righteousness and purity of truth. Ephesians 4:22-24. The feel of it all is reversed! We had expectancy in building ourselves but were doing so in the deceitful masking of the world and even evil. We thought we would be beautifully acceptable to the world, only to discover the world s glitter and glory changes routinely because it never satisfies and we are deceived. In the righteousness God brings, we put on a lasting beauty and one that brings a sense of completion and contentment, and we are satisfied, more importantly, God is satisfied. When the new covers the old, it s artificial glitter and glory fades away as that which has been tossed in the trash. The new sparkles with the joy of His likeness and purity. Take down the old and put up the new, with God s help, and see. ~ Bro. Bobby

A special "Thank You" to Todd Etheridge and his team (his sons) for creating such wonderful visual decorations and lighting for our Christmas season. They are a group of guys who never cease to amaze us with their talent. Thank you so much! Dear Church Family: 2017 has been a good year as we look forward to the changes coming in 2018. Sarah and Sutton are still living in Los Angeles. Their company called ACE (Activities Children Enjoy) Entertainment, which goes into schools and provides after-school programs for students in many different subjects from cooking to magic, continues to grow adding school after school and do well. Sutton continues to work in the film industry shooting video, writing scripts, editing video as well as teaching many classes for their ACE business. David is finishing up his degree at Texas Tech and will graduate in May of 2018. He continues to do amazing things with the gifts God has given him in the field of art. He has had serveral pieces in shows in Lubbock and is working hard putting together a portfolio of all his work from paintings, to sculptures, to metal fabrication. We're proud of the way he has persevered to complete his degree. He has a lovely girlfriend, Stevie, and a cute black kitty cat named Rusko. Tyler is doing very well in Tulsa, OK where he is a financial planner at Don P. Quint and Associates. He purchased his first home and, this past November, he passed the huge test for his C.F.P. (Certified Financial Planner) designation, which gave us much to be thankful for at Thanksgiving. They say that test is as hard as passing the bar for a law degree. He continues to be very active with his church in Tulsa leading a men's group and working with the youth. We are so proud of him and all he's accomplished this year! Lastly, thank you for all your kind words and encouragement throughout the year. Your gifts of love have blessed us beyond measure. As God leads, we look to 2018 lifting each other up in prayer, seeking God's blessing and wisdom for Mayfield Road. May God bless you and your family in the New Year of 2018, Bro. www.mayfieldroad.org Dear Church Family, We as a staff want to thank you for your ministry of love and grace through the 2017 holiday season. You have ministered to many through Fall Festival, ESL, Lottie's Place and many other events that serve our community. We are priviledged to serve and care for the people of our community. You open the doors of our church to groups such as the monthly meetings of Arlington S.M.A.R.T. Coalition and Maybrook Estates as well as other groups who have been on mission in our city. Through each of these groups you show the love and grace of Christ as we make available to them the buildings that God has provided. Lastly we want to thank you for your gifts and encouragement that you show us throughout the year and especially during the Christmas season. Each one is a blessing to us and our families. As the new year begins, we pray that God will give us the direction, vision and wisdom to follow where He is leading Mayfield Road. The future is full of opportunities for us to minister to many in the name of Jesus. We wish you all a blessed New Year! Thank you, The Staff of Mayfield Road Sundays 9:30 A.M.
