Altar Flowers The flowers on the altar are given to the glory of God by Dave and Kurri Cecchini in honor of grand-daughter Olivia s 3 rd birthday on June 27. Church Office Hours Church office hours are: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. to Noon. Appointments can always be made for other times by calling the office or the pastors. Pastor Dave s Roast: Today s fresh roasted coffee for coffee hour is: Ethiopia Dry Process Wollega Leka Wato. Dry processed coffees can have outrageous flavors. Pleasant Lutheran Church Special Congregational Meeting Minutes June 19, 2016 Attendance: 121 MPLC members Meeting called to order by Casey McIntosh at 9:30 am Congregation Business I. Congregation informed of land sale situation a. Approx. 8 acres out of the 11 acres that was recently purchased II. Questions/Discussion a. Will the section of land that we are keeping be enough to accommodate future parking needs? i. Yes, this will be more than what we intend to use as a parking lot.

III. Congregational Approved by a unanimous vote: a. The congregation authorizes the church council to sell part of the land recently purchased from the Lincoln Lutheran receivership that will not be used for our parking lot. I. VBS 2016 August 1 5, 9:00 a.m. Noon at MPLC Register in the narthex, or at www.spaceshipchurch.org Registration Closes TODAY! Registration deadline is Sunday, June 26. We are able to keep our VBS program free by the good graces of our wonderful volunteers. We cannot stress enough, the importance of our volunteers. If your child/ren are attending VBS please sign up to volunteer in some way. We still need volunteers for: Set up on July 31 at noon. Set up includes: decorating the church, filling balloons with helium, setting up classrooms with supplies, etc. We also need volunteers for clean up on either August 5 at noon or August 6 at 10:00 a.m. Clean up includes: wiping down tables, taking decorations down, taking out garbage, cleaning up classrooms and supplies, etc. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

VBS Intergenerational Picnic Wednesday, August 3 at 5:30 p.m. Mark your calendars for the VBS intergenerational church picnic on Wednesday, August 3 at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome! Church will provide the main dish and snow cones for dessert. Please bring a side dish to pass. We are in need of helpers to make this picnic great. Contact the church office if you can help at 634-6704. 4 th 8 th Grade Jellystone Park Outing Wednesday, June 29 ~ 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Today is the last day to sign up! School's almost out for the summer! Come celebrate with your friends from MPLC at Jellystone Park in Caledonia! Meet Pastor Krista there at 10 a.m. with your bagged lunch! (We'll have coolers!) Cost is $8 per person, payable when you arrive at Jellystone. Friends welcome cost for non-members is $14. Sign up in the narthex. See Pastor Krista with any questions. MPLC SCRIP make mission happen As Pastor Dave likes to say You re going to spend the money anyway: Make Mission Happen! High School Summer Trip Update Our Final Summer Trip Group Builder is TODAY, Sunday, June 26, noon-2 p.m. The MPLC rummage sale will be on Friday & Saturday, July l5 & l6, from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. We are currently accepting donations at the 16 th St. entrance, during church office hours. Ring the buzzer by the door and office staff will let you in. Please, don t bring any large items until the week of the sale! We are sorting and packing donations on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. NOON; AND from 6-8 p.m. We will work every Tuesday until the week of the sale. Sign up in the narthex to help or just come! Thank you! Hunger Never Takes a Vacation The Food pantry at Holy Communion Lutheran Church is asking for the following items for next two weeks. Thank you for your support! July 3 - instant potatoes, 1 lb. pkgs. of egg noodles July 10 - saltines, 15 oz. cans of fruit cocktail St. Patrick s Community Meal Thursday, July 21 Please consider helping! On the third Thursday of every other month, a group of MPLC volunteers meets in the MPLC kitchen to prepare food for more than 150, for the St. Patrick s Community Meal. See the sign up sheet in the narthex. Living Faith Lutheran Church Community Meal Next Meal is Sunday, July 24 2915 Wright Avenue, Racine See the sign up sheet in the narthex! Additional 2016 dates are: September 18 and November 20 ~ mark your calendars! Joseph s Granary at MPLC Here s how it works: Look for the Joseph s Granary table in the narthex. Leave any extra garden produce there. MPLC members and guests are welcome to take produce in exchange for a donation to the food bank. Any leftover produce after the weekend will be donated to the food bank. It s a win-win!

Quilters News The quilters are on summer break but will resume again on September 8 at 9 a.m. in fellowship hall. We sent five quilts to Lutherdale for the Lutherdale Fest-Quilt Auction. This is a fundraiser for the camp. The Auction is on Saturday, August 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can preview the quilts on their website, www.lutherdale.org. Also, you can see the results on the website after the auction. This is a great fundraiser for the camp that so many of our young confirmands attend each summer. Hope to see some new faces to help us with quilting in the fall!! Crafter s Corner The crafters have concluded June meetings and will be taking the months of July and August off. We will meet again in September. Consider joining us! Questions? Please call Donna Mullikin at 554-8872. MPLC Men s Softball Here we go Mt. Pleasant, here we go. As of the writing of this article, our record is 3-2 we are tied with last year s champs. It s been great to have fans there to cheer us on! There s always good seats available in the bleachers, or bring your own lawn chair. Our next game is Tuesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. at Cliffside Park NW Diamond. Be a sport! Be a fan!
