the church Newsletter Marion United Methodist Church November 2014 Meet Our Church Administrator Mrs. Cynthia Cyndi James My name is Cynthia James; however, most people refer to my nickname Cyndi when addressing me. I have been married to Jeff James for over thirty years, and we have a son, Brandon James. Last year we were blessed with our first grandchild, Wyatt James followed by a second grandson, Grayson James, this past month. My family moved to West Memphis in 1969 where I attended the local school system and East Arkansas Community College. I am currently continuing my education at Mid-South Community College. My work history started in the legal field working for Kent Rubens from 1986 until his death in 2008. I began as a receptionist/secretary for David Peeples, but soon worked my way up to a legal assistant and ended that career as a paralegal. After Kent passed, I felt the need to move away from the legal career I had come to know and set out on a new path. My second career was in the healthcare field as the Executive Assistant for the CEO and CFO of Crittenden Regional Hospital from 2009 until the doors closed this past September. With the closing of the hospital came the realization that I would need to look deep into my life before pursuing another job opportunity. After much thought and prayer came the opportunity at Marion United Methodist Church. This will be my third career change, and I look forward to the challenges I face in the upcoming weeks and months. Our family has a long history of taking vacations together in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This past summer, the James family had the pleasure of spending the week with Brandon, Emilee and Wyatt as our grandson enjoyed his first trip to the beach. I am looking forward to a second trip to include the newest addition in the upcoming years. I am a cancer survivor having been diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in 2011. This is an extremely aggressive cancer and happens to be the same type cancer Joan London is currently fighting. While fighting the battle, I was the honorary chairperson of Relay For Life in 2011. After defeating cancer, I focused on those still fighting the battle and worked closely with the American Cancer Society to bring the Look Good Feel Better program to Crittenden County. The experience with cancer taught me many things about life, and I embrace those memories and include those lessons in my daily living. My first day at work for MUMC was November 3, 2014. During the month of October, I had the opportunity to meet several members of the church and I look forward to continuing my efforts of getting to know everyone. Thank you for the warm welcome into the Methodist Family.

An Interesting Turkey Dinner Fact: The MUMC Annual Turkey Dinner began over sixty years ago. The event is sponsored by the UMW, but could not be accomplished without the support of our dedicated congregation. Thank you to all of you who took time out of your busy schedule to make this event such a success. Thanks for all your hard work...
