Dreams- A series of perceptions or images experienced during sleep. Eerdmans's Bible Dictionary

In Bible days Dreams or night visions were recognized as an important means of divine communication.

Our dreams can serve this purpose in our lives today.

Joel 2:28-29 Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions.

Joel 2:28-29 Dreams and Visions 29 In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on servants men and women alike.

For many of us GOD must speak to us in our dreams because our lives are too busy and consumed with other things.

Our Dreams can serve many purposes in our lives

To warn us against doing something. To convey what will happen in the near or distant future. To convey a spiritual truth.

To confirm a promise. To offer encouragement To inform us. To reveal to us our Kingdom Assignment.

All Dreams Don t Come From GOD!

We must protect what enters our spirit even when we are asleep!

Pray to GOD about the dreams you have. The Holy Spirit WILL give you revelation concerning the purpose of the dream and GOD S desire for your life.

Visions The main difference between visions and dreams in the Bible is that dreams are received while the person is sleeping while visions are received while the person is awake.

However Dreams and Visions Visions We can never put GOD in a box! So Visions can also come while one is awake and in the Spirit.

Visions A supernatural visual manifestation, which may also involve the aural, that serves as a divine revelation of something otherwise secret. Eerdmans' Dictionary

Revelation GOD S deliberate disclosure to mankind of true knowledge of himself and his purposes and actions on behalf of mankind.

Revelation Revelation has two focal points: (1) GOD S purposes. (2) GOD S person.

Visions 1. Vision as it pertains to the Leader of GOD S people.

Visions 2. Vision as it pertains to the our own lives.

Visions Vision as it pertains to the Leader of GOD S people.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 KJV 2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 KJV 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry,

Habakkuk 2:2-3 KJV 3 Wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Numbers 12:6 6 And the Lord said to them, Now listen to what I say: If there were prophets among you,

Numbers 12:6 6 I, the Lord, would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams. 7 But not with my servant Moses.

Numbers 12:6 Of all my house, he is the one I trust. 8 I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles!

Visions Proverbs 29:18 ESV Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.

Visions Proverbs 29:18 NLT When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.

Amos 3:7 Dreams and Visions Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets.

2 Samuel 7:1-3 7 When King David was settled in his palace and the Lord had given him rest from all the surrounding enemies,

2 Samuel 7:1-3 2 the king summoned Nathan the prophet. Look, David said, I am living in a beautiful cedar palace,

2 Samuel 7:1-3 but the Ark of God is out there in a tent!

3 Nathan replied to the king, Go ahead and do whatever you have in mind, for the Lord is with you.

2 Samuel 7:4-7 4 But that same night the Lord said to Nathan, 5 Go and tell my servant David, This is what the Lord has declared:

2 Samuel 7:4-7 6 I have never lived in a house, from the day I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until this very day.

2 Samuel 7:4-7 6 I have always moved from one place to another with a tent and a Tabernacle as my dwelling.

2 Samuel 7:4-7 7 Yet no matter where I have gone with the Israelites, I have never once complained to Israel s tribal leaders,

2 Samuel 7:4-7 7 The shepherds of my people Israel. I have never asked them, Why haven t you built me a beautiful cedar house?

2 Samuel 7:12-13 12 For when you die and are buried with your ancestors, I will raise up one of your descendants, your own offspring,

2 Samuel 7:12-13 12 and I will make his kingdom strong. 13 He is the one who will build a house a temple for my name.

1 Chronicles 22:6-10 6 Then David sent for his son Solomon and instructed him to build a Temple for the Lord, the God of Israel.

1 Chronicles 22:6-10 7 My son, I wanted to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord my God, David told him.

1 Chronicles 22:6-10 8 But the Lord said to me, You have killed many men in the battles you have fought.

1 Chronicles 22:6-10 8 And since you have shed so much blood in my sight, you will not be the one to build a Temple to honor my name.

1 Chronicles 22:6-10 9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace. I will give him peace with his enemies in all the surrounding lands.

1 Chronicles 22:6-10 9 His name will be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel during his reign.

1 Chronicles 22:6-10 10 He is the one who will build a Temple to honor my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father.

1 Chronicles 22:6-10 10 And I will secure the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.

Visions 2. Vision as it pertains to the our own lives.

Visions Our vision for ourselves should ALWAYS bring GOD glory

Visions We MUST pray to GOD concerning our Vision.

Visions To ensure that our vision is in alignment with GOD S will for our lives.

Proverbs 16:9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

Jeremiah 29:11 11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope

Matthew 6:33 NLT 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:33 KJV 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Final Thoughts/Wrap Up

Soooo Dreams and Visions What is your VISION?

What Vision has GOD placed within you?

How are you achieving/pursuing the Vision GOD has given you?

Think of a time that GOD gave you a Vision for your life that was not on your radar.
