Committed to His Will, His Way, and His Word November 11, 2018 18 The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. Luke 4:18-19 (NKJV) It is the vision of Mount Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 2 MOBC COMMUNITY NEWS!! August 26 - December 2, 2018 The Pulpit Attire is Green We are in the season of KINGDOMTIDE, the color of KINGDOMTIDE is GREEN. The color GREEN symbolizes growth. KINGDOMTIDE runs from August 26th until Advent. KINGDOMTIDE is the newest of the seasons, dating no farther back than the late 1930 s. KINGDOMTIDE gives place for due attention to the eternal presence of Christ and His Kingship with the parallel emphasis upon our stewardship. Its emphasis on the kingship of Christ and His kingdom, challenges us in our daily lives and in every area of our existence. Theme For This Quarter: GOD S WORLD AND GOD S PEOPLE In Genesis, the book of beginnings, God is revealed as the Creator, Sustainer, Judge, and Redeemer, who brought all things into being. The fall quarter surveys the book of Genesis in developing sessions on God s creation of the universe, earth, and people. It also details how God continues to co-labor with sinful humanity in reconciling and re-creating order in all things. UNIT 3 GOD BLESSES AND CREATES REGARDLESS This unit has four sessions. We will explore how God blessed humble Isaac in enemy territory, and consider how Jacob deceitfully obtained the blessing God had already destined for him, later established a right relationship with God, and finally was blessed by God to marry and produce children with the wife he loved and for whom he long labored. NEXT WEEK S LESSON: November 18, 2018 Jacob Forms a Relationship with God Genesis 28:10-22 In the midst of human turmoil, we grow weary and can lose sight of the purpose for our lives. How can we escape the confusion to refresh and reorient ourselves to get back on track? God created an opportunity for the weary Jacob to reconnect with his spiritual mission and resources for him to begin his life s journey with renewed vigor. * MONDAY: Samuel Hears the Voice of God 1 Samuel 3:1-9 * TUESDAY: Elijah Meets God s Angel 1 King 19:4-9 * WEDNESDAY: The Lord Renews the Weary Isaiah 40:27-31 * THURSDAY: A Great Priest for the People Hebrews 10:19-25 * FRIDAY: Tithe to Support Levites and Community Deuteronomy 14:22-29 * SATURDAY: Nathanael Will See Greater Things John 1:47-51 * SUNDAY: Transformed by God s Visitation Genesis 28:10-22 Sermon Highlights November 4, 2018 Title: Moving Forward As Cave Conquerors Text: 1 Samuel 22:1-4 Main Idea: What should you expect from God when you are in a cave, in that cold, dark, damp, temporary place of refuge? When you are in a cave you can expect to move forward as a cave conqueror because: Main Points: 1) Care will visit you. 2) Your calling will be defined. 3) You will capitalize on your cave experience. For the full message order a CD or DVD of the service from the Media Ministry. CDs $5.00; Double CDs $7.00; DVDs $10.00 HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell some one else what Jesus has done in your life! Heavenly Father, I now understand my need to have my sins forgiven. I also realize that only Jesus because of His sacrifice on the cross can forgive my sin. I put my faith and trust in Jesus today. Please forgive me and become the Lord of my life. MOBC Bible Institute The Bible Institute is now in session. Class will meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM 8:00 PM in the MP Building, Classroom #1. If you want to understand what God is doing with you as an individual and with the human race as a whole, join us in a comprehensive study of the book of Romans. Historically Romans is the most influential book in the Bible. The Protestant Reformation was launched when Martin Luther understood the meaning of God s righteousness and that the just shall live by faith Romans 1:17. Instructor: Sis. Marilyn E. Coates
