Romans 16:1-27 I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church in Cenchrea. [2] I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been a great help to many people, including me. i. As I have shown many times, when the Holy Spirit is leading a believer to write, the is a order in how things are listed. Paul would have listed the one he felt most important in his list of recommendations. (1) If Peter would have been in Rome as the bishop he would have been the first mentioned. ii. Saints - called here - men and woman upon the earth (1) Psalm 37:28 For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off; (2) Psalm 37:28 For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. (a) from Hebrew 2616 (chacad) (religiously) pious (a saint) :- godly (man), good, holy (one), merciful, saint, [un-] godly 24 things that constitute a saint 1. Control of his own spirit Psalm 37:1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; Psalm 37:7-8 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. [8] Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil. 2. Freedom from jealousy and envy : Psalm 37:1 above. 3. Absolute trust in Psalm 37:3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this Psalm 37:40 The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. 4. [18] The days of the blameless are known to the Lord, and their inheritance will endure forever. [8] Greet Ampliatus, whom I love in the Lord. [9] Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and my dear friend Stachys. [10] Greet Apelles, tested and approved in Christ. Greet those who belong to the household of Aristobulus. [11] Greet Herodion, my relative. Greet those in the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord. [12] Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard in the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard in the Lord. [13]Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too. [14] Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas and the brothers with them. [15] Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas and all the saints with them. [16] Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ send greetings. i. Now Paul is going to point out Saints as you read their accomplishment you will see the true meaning of Psalm 37. ii. Greet Priscilla and Aquila, (1) my fellow workers in Christ Jesus. Romans 16: [17] I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. [18] For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. [19] Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. [20] The of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. i. Matthew 7:15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. ii. Philip. 3:18-19 For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. [19] Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. iii. 2 Peter 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves. 10 things that will point out a false teacher 1. [23] Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings.erastus, who is the city's director of public works, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings. [24] The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, A Men i. Timothy, (1) my fellow worker, (2) sends his greetings to you, ii. Lucius, Jason and Sosipater, (1) my relatives. iii. I, Tertius, (1) who wrote down this letter, (2) greet you in the Lord. iv. Gaius (1) whose hospitality I (2) and the whole church here enjoy, (3) sends you his greetings. v. Erastus, (1) who is the city's director of public works, vi. our brother Quartus (1) send you their greetings. b. And Now From Paul i. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, A Men 12 The benediction a. Romans 16: [25] Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, [26] but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal, so that all nations might believe and obey him-- [27] to the only wise be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. i. Here Paul will sum up the Gospel again. (1) Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel (2) and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, (a) according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, (b) but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings (i) by the command of the eternal, (3) so that all nations might believe and obey him (4) to the only wise be glory forever through Jesus Christ!
