June 28, 2015 Why Set Here Till You Die Pastor Margaret Mendenhall We realize that we are in the end times, getting ready to do battle, but we need to know how and what to do. We have been given three different words to help prepare us for the battle; rak - only victory, chazak - whitening of the knuckles and amats -full speed ahead with no defeat. The enemy realizes also that his time is short and he is attacking with a fierce anger, trying to destroy everything that he can. We are told that he has one purpose and that is to steal, kill and destroy. John 10:10 "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)." AMP Rev 12:12 "Therefore be glad (exult), O heavens and you that dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in fierce anger (fury), because he knows that he has [only] a short time [left]!" AMP We are seeing all the things that are going on around us, as believers we are able to recognize what is happening, but we need to know how to combat the enemy, so many people have no idea that we are in the last days and don't know what to do. 2 Cor 2:11 "To keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions." AMP The following scripture tells of what the children of Israel were facing with the king of Syria ready to destroy the city and all that lived there. 2 Kings 6:8 "When the king of Syria was warring against Israel, after counseling with his servants, he said, In such and such a place shall be my camp. " AMP The king was able to identify the enemy, judgment from the Lord; then Elisha prophesied to the king. 2 Kings 6:33 "And while Elisha was talking with them, behold, [the messenger] came to him [and then the king came also]. And [the relenting king] said, This evil is from the Lord! Why should I any longer wait [expecting Him to withdraw His punishment? What, Elisha, can be done now]?" AMP 2 Kings 7:1-2 "Then Elisha said, Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will sell for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria! 2 Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, If the Lord should make windows in heaven, could this thing be? But Elisha said, You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it." AMP We must be able to identify our enemy, the devil. We are not in a battle with flesh and blood but with principalities and powers, but if we allow the devil to get us into a fight with other

people, then he is going to win. Eph 6:12 "For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere." AMP (A word in answer to intercessory prayer and a visit that Jesse DuPlantis had with Jesus in heaven was given.) "Time is short and I have promised an outpouring of my spirit before my return, you have been looking for signs, wonders and miracles, to indicate the outpouring has begun, and have missed the greatest sign of all, in these days those who satan has almost destroyed through wickedness, through sin, through addictions who are poised on the brink of hell, I am snatching from the pit, they are coming into my kingdom in droves yet there will be signs and wonders and miracles before my return, but the vast harvest of lost souls rescued from the hand of the enemy is the greatest sign of all, they will lead the way for the last days revival." "Jesus told Jesse to tell the people that He was coming very soon, that they needed to be looking for the witness in addition to the signs and wonders." The words of each were stressed, that Jesus' return is very soon and there will be a great witness of believers in the last revival, coming from the prisons, being released in order to carry the word forward, spiritual giants they will have power to kick down the gates of hell, covered with armor like warriors, ordered to go and take what the enemy has taught them and use it against him, pulling down strongholds that have been used against the church. Continue with 2 Kings, Why set here until we die? This was the question asked by the four lepers as they sat outside the gates of the city. They had a choice to make; either go into the city and die or go over to the Syrians and be killed, either way they would die. Their choice was to go forward and when they did, they found the army had deserted the camp, leaving all that they had need of, the spoils of the army was great, enough for them and the city. They had been rejected by society and really had nothing to lose, much like people that we would reject because of sin in their lives, not to be considered for anything, but needing to be helped, yet the lepers were willing to share what they had found with the city and those living inside; they chose to save the city. 2 Kings 7:3-4 "Now four men who were lepers were at the entrance of the city s gate; and they said to one another, Why do we sit here until we die? 4 If we say, We will enter the city then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we sit still here, we die also. So now come, let us go over to the army of the Syrians. If they spare us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die." AMP If we do nothing when the enemy comes against us, then the enemy is going to win. We must be under Gods authority and leadership or we will have no effect on the devil. He does not fear us in the natural, but in the spirit as righteous children of God, covered by the blood of Jesus. James 4:7 "So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you." AMP Resist is an action word, flee as in terror. We should not be afraid of the enemy because he is afraid of us; but he is not afraid of us if we fail to resist him. The devil has to seek, he cannot destroy at will. Don't give him a foothold, but stand in faith. None of us is exempt, the devil will

try to stop what God is doing in our lives. 1 Peter 5:6-9 "Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, 7 Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. 9 Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world." AMP When the devil attacks we always have two choices, what our flesh wants to do or what God wants from us. The devil only has one main tool; offense, where it comes from and what we chose to do with it is up to us. The word is the source, the word is what brings victory in our lives and causes us to grow. Jesus says the word is planted in lives but doesn't always bring a harvest because the enemy wants to stop the word from working in our lives. We are not fighting people but are fighting against the devil. Mark 4:17 "And they have no real root in themselves, and so they endure for a little while; then when trouble or persecution arises on account of the Word, they immediately are offended (become displeased, indignant, resentful) and they stumble and fall away." Matt 13:21 "Yet it has no real root in him, but is temporary (inconstant, lasts but a little while); and when affliction or trouble or persecution comes on account of the Word, at once he is caused to stumble [he is repelled and begins to distrust and desert Him Whom he ought to trust and obey] and he falls away." AMP Luke 8:13 "And those upon the rock [are the people] who, when they hear [the Word], receive and welcome it with joy; but these have no root. They believe for a while, and in time of trial and temptation fall away (withdraw and stand aloof)." AMP Jesus addresses this in the churches of Ephesus and Laodicea that they had forgotten their first love and had grown lukewarm. Because of doing nothing, the enemy was destroying them. Rev 2:4-5 "But I have this [one charge to make] against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first [you have deserted Me, your first love]. 5 Remember then from what heights you have fallen. Repent (change the inner man to meet God s will) and do the works you did previously [when first you knew the Lord], or else I will visit you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you change your mind and repent." AMP There are keys to spiritual warfare; seeing, knowing and speaking. See the devil for what he is and what he is trying to do. Know that God is greater and speak the victory. The following word addresses the keys to spiritual warfare. "I have heard your prayers. Many times when the enemy hinders my plan on earth there is no one who understands spiritual warfare, who takes the time to hear from me and takes a stand against my enemies. Elisha knew there were more than enough angelic forces for him then enemies against him, but the heavenly forces did nothing until Elisha gave the command. My forces are always stronger and more numerous than the evil ones that want to destroy my plan. For you to be victorious in spiritual warfare you must do three things. 1)see the enemies plan and perceive what is available to you to stop it. 2) you must know my forces are greater in every way than the enemy 3) you must speak what comes to pass to produce victory. Seeing, knowing and speaking is

always the key to winning over opposition in the spirit. You have done all three, you have the victory now. Stand back and see the salvation of the Lord." 2 Kings 6:8-18 "When the king of Syria was warring against Israel, after counseling with his servants, he said, In such and such a place shall be my camp. 9 Then the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, Beware that you pass not such a place, for the Syrians are coming down there. 10 Then the king of Israel sent to the place of which [Elisha] told and warned him; and thus he protected and saved himself there repeatedly. 11 Therefore the mind of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing. He called his servants and said, Will you show me who of us is for the king of Israel? 12 One of his servants said, None, my lord O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedchamber. 13 He said, Go and see where he is, that I may send and seize him. And it was told him, He is in Dothan. 14 So [the Syrian king] sent there horses, chariots, and a great army. They came by night and surrounded the city. 15 When the servant of the man of God rose early and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. Elisha s servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do? 16 [Elisha] answered, Fear not; for those with us are more than those with them. 17 Then Elisha prayed, Lord, I pray You, open his eyes that he may see. And the Lord opened the young man s eyes, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 18 And when the Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, Smite this people with blindness, I pray You. And God smote them with blindness, as Elisha asked." AMP Paul prayed this for the people. This is the power that is at work in us making us victorious. We are trophies and smell good to the Lord. Eph 1:16-23 "I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers. 17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, 18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones), 19 And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, 20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places], 21 Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come. 22 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church], 23 Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself]." AMP 2 Cor 2:14 "But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere," AMP Quoted a portion of the 91st Psalm because of a suggestion that the enemy had planted telling of destruction, causing fear to arise, but by recognizing the enemy from what was said, knowing who had spoken, victory was the final outcome, putting the three keys to spiritual warfare into place. 1 Peter 5:10 "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you." AMP The keys in our lives is to know that the devil it out to get us. God has given us the authority over the devil through the name of Jesus and through His shed blood. He has done all that He is going to do in regards to the devil, it is up to us to take a stand and make a choice.

Remembering this and how to use that authority gives us the victory and enables us to gather up the spoils.
