The Blessed Virgin Mary

The Life of Mary God prepared her to receive Jesus in her body Mary welcomed the message and promise brought to her by the angel Gabriel, believing that with God nothing will be impossible Throughout her life and when Jesus her son died on the cross, Mary s faith never wavered. She never ceased to believe in the fulfillment of God s word

Marian presence in the Bible Gen. 3:14-15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.

ISAIAH 7:13 Emmanuel prophesy Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel

JOHN 2, 1-12 Wedding Feast at Cana On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, They have no wine. 4 And Jesus said to her, Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My hour has not yet come. 5 His mother said to the servants, Do whatever he tells you.

JOHN 19, 25-27 Mary our Mother On the cross, Jesus said to the disciple John Behold your mother Then he said to Mary behold your son In this statement Jesus gave His mother to the Church (represented by John)

Mary in the Apocryphal book The Gospel of James contains biographical material about Mary. It states she was the daughter of Joachim and Anna, who were quite old when she was conceived. They took her to live in the Temple in Jerusalem when she was three years old,.

THE CATHOLIC DOGMAS ON MARY THE MOTHER OF GOD THE PERPETUAL VIRGINITY OF MARY THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF MARY THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY BODY AND SOUL

1. MARY THE MOTHER OF GOD Mary's most fundamental privilege is that of being the Mother of God. We do not mean she produced the divine nature, of course. But her Son is God, so she is the Mother of God. Do not be afraid Mary, you have found favour with God. You will conceive and five birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. (lk 1:31)

2. The Perpetual Virginity of Mary Teachings: Mary was a virgin before, during and after giving birth to Jesus. The faithful believe that Mary was ever-virgin for the whole of her life, making Jesus her only biological son, whose conception and birth are held to be miraculous

Virginity before birth: > This means that Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit without participation of any man. The Greek term Aeiparthenos (i.e. "Ever Virgin") is attested to from the early 4th century.the Catechism of the Catholic Church referring to the dogmatic constitution states: "Christ's birth did not diminish his mother's virginal integrity but sanctified it." Virginity during birth: This means that Mary gave birth without losing her corporal virginity and her corporal integrity was not affected by giving birth. The Church does not teach how this occurred physically, but insists that virginity during child birth is different from virginity of conception; Pope Pius XII stating in Mystici corporis "Within her virginal womb Christ our Lord already bore the exalted title of Head of the Church; in a marvelous birth she brought Him forth as the source of all supernatural life. Virginity after birth This means that Mary remained a virgin after giving. This belief of the Church was questioned in its early years

The Immaculate Conception of Mary Overflowing grace: Pius IX, in the document, Ineffabilis Deus, defining the Immaculate Conception in 1854 wrote: "He [God] attended her with such great love, more than all other creatures, that in her alone He took singular pleasure. Wherefore He so wonderfully filled her, more than all angelic spirits and all the Saints, with an abundance of all heavenly gifts taken from the treasury of the divinity, that she, always free from absolutely every stain of sin, and completely beautiful and perfect, presented such a fullness of innocence and holiness that none greater under God can be thought of, and no one but God can comprehend it."

ASSUMPTION OF MARY 1950Pope Pius XII, declared infallibly, ex cathedra: Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory. (The Magisterium has stayed conspicuously silent regarding whether this process entailed Mary's physical death. The teaching merely states that Mary's body and soul were assumed at the completion of the course of Mary's life.)

Private Devotions to Mary: The Rosary There is among Catholic Christians the need and the practice of private spiritual devotions. This private prayer life is found among other Christians also. For example, some Christians pray the Psalms daily; others prefer a form of meditation, etc. The Bible requires neither of everyone. The Catholic Church has not and does not officially teach or proclaim a private devotion as doctrine or dogma, required by faith or the practice of all believers. As any individual Christian has private devotions, so also has even the Bishop of Rome. Should even these private devotions be performed in public no universal teaching is intended.

2002 In his Apostolic Letter, Rosarium Virginis Mariae (Rosary of the Virgin Mary), Pope John Paul II encouraged the use of the Rosary in prayer to Jesus. He proposed adding five Luminous Mysteries to the traditional pattern.

The Holy Rosary > The rosary is a devotion in honor of the Virgin Mary > The word Rosary means "Crown of Roses". Our Lady has revealed to several people that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses. The rose is the queen of flowers, and so the Rosary is the rose of all devotions. the Rosary is simply a Catholic prayer based upon the Bible that focuses on the events in the life of Jesus and that of Mary the Mother of Jesus. The rosary is both a Vocal and a Mental prayer Mental prayer is meditating upon the Rosary Mysteries which tell the life of Jesus and his mother Mary.

Rosary as a mental prayer Joyful Mysteries Sorrowful Mysteries The Annunciation of the Angel Gabriel to Mary The Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth The Birth of Jesus The Presentation of Jesus in the temple The Finding of Jesus in the temple The Agony of Jesus in the garden of Gethsamani The Scourging of Jesus at the Pillar The Crowning of Jesus with Thorns The Carrying of the Cross to Calvary The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus on the Cross

Monday @ Saturday> Joyful Tuesday @ Friday> Sorrowful Wednesday @ Sunday> Glorious Thursday > Luminous Luminous Mysteries Glorious Mysteries The Baptism of Jesus The Resurrection The Wedding at Cana The Ascension The Proclamation of the Kingdom Of God The Descent of the Holy Spirit The Transfiguration Of Jesus The Assumption of Mary to Heaven Body and Soul The Institution of The Eucharist The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and earth

Why pray the rosary? One day, St. Dominic prayed to Our Lady that she would force the devils who possessed a man to reveal the truth about devotion to her. The devils were forced by Our Lady to reveal: Listen to what the devils said, "Now that we are forced to speak we must also tell you this: Nobody who perseveres in saying the Rosary will be damned, because she obtains for her servants the grace of true contrition for their sins and by means of this they obtain God's forgiveness and mercy."

Making the rosary a family prayer is very pleasing to me. I ask that all families strive to do so. But be careful to say the Rosary with great devotion, meditating on each mystery and striving to imitate in your daily lives the virtues depicted. Live the mysteries of the rosary as I lived them, and it will become a chain binding you to me forever. They who are found in the circle of my rosary will never be lost. I myself will lead them at death to the throne of my Son, to be eternally united to Him. ~Our Lady of America

How beautiful is the family that recites the Rosary every evening!~st. John Paul II Some people are so foolish that they think they can go through life without the help of the Blessed Mother. Love the Madonna and pray the rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today.~st. Padre Pio If our age in its pride laughs at and rejects Our Lady s Rosary, a countless legion of the most saintly men of every age and of every condition have not only held it most dear and have most piously recited it but have also used it at all times as a most powerful weapon to overcome the devil, to preserve the purity of their lives, to acquire virtue more zealously, in a word, to promote peace among men.

The Church venerates (honour or revere) She is the Mother of God and united with Jesus on earth as no other human being was or could be This closeness and intimacy continues in heaven (taken to heaven with body and soul) But Mary is never the end point

Throughout the centuries, we continue to honour Mary (NOT worship) THE REVERENCE WE RENDER TO MARY IS CALLED = HYPERDULIA FOR GOD = LATRIA FOR THE SAINTS = DULIA *IN PRAYING THE ROSARY, WE ACTUALLY PRAY WITH MARY AND THROUGH MARY TO GOD. THUS SHE IS NOT THE END OF OUR PRAYERS *IN PRAYING THE ROSARY WE RENDER MARY THE DUE REVERENCE SHE DESERVES *IN PRAYING THE ROSARY WE ASK MARY TO PRAY FOR US, THAT IS TO BRING OUR PRAYERS AT THE FOOT OF HER SON WHO WILL NEVER SAY NO TO HER
