Some of the terms used in this book. DICTIONARY THE MESSIAH: from the Hebrew word, HaMashiach, which means The Anointed. THE CHRIST also means The Anointed, and comes from the Greek word Christos. YHWH: The Name of the Almighty revealed in the Hebrew Bible The meaning of the Name is the Eternally-existing One. It may be pronounced as YAHWEH or Yahwah, but must be spoken with reverence. Religious Jews do not speak the Name of YHWH, but use substitute words - Adonai (Lord) or HaShem (the Name). But God never said, Don't speak My Name! In most English Bibles, YHWH is rendered as LORD (four capital letters). Y'shua is the original Hebrew Name of Jesus, and means, "Yahweh is Salvation." OT: Old Testament. NT: New Testament BIBLE QUOTATIONS used in this book are from the Clear Preferred Version (CPV), a clear, compared teaching version by Don Stanton. It employs modern English, and uses the original Names of YHWH and Y shua. Words in italics are not in the original, but are supplied to complete or to amplify the English translation. The CPV is not complete, but scriptural quotations used in most of our recent publications are from the Clear Preferred Version. INTRODUCTION THE English word "Messiah" is a transliteration of the Hebrew word Mashiach, which means the Anointed One. To the Christian, The Messiah means Jesus Christ, God s Anointed Saviour and returning King. To the Jew the Messiah is a promised King-Deliverer who will save the Jewish people. To others the Messiah is often a political or religious leader who speaks with messianic fervour, and has the solution to the problems of a country, or of the world. Strangely, the word Messiah appears only four times in our English Bibles; twice in the OT (Daniel 9:25, 26), and twice in the NT (John 1:41, 4:25). The word Mashiach is used 39 times in the Hebrew Bible, and is translated into English 37 times as the Anointed ; many of these scriptures refer to the LORD s anointed kings - Saul, David, and even to Cyrus in Isaiah 45:1.

So in Scripture Messiah is used of chosen leaders who were anointed of God. Many prophecies in the OT, however, anticipated the coming of The Messiah, and furnished many details about His life, His ministry, His sacrificial death, and His future reign. The New Testament writers point to Y shua (Jesus), as being that Anointed One. THE KINGS OF THE EARTH TOOK THEIR STAND, AND THE RULERS WERE GATHERED TOGETHER AGAINST THE LORD AND AGAINST HIS ANOINTED (His Christ, His Messiah). [Psalm 2:2]. For truly in this city, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, gathered together against Your holy Servant Y shua, whom You anointed, to do whatever Your Hand and Your Purpose predetermined to occur.... You know how God anointed Y shua of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power... (Acts 4:26-28, 10:38) YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS; THEREFORE O GOD, YOUR GOD HAS ANOINTED YOU WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS ABOVE YOUR COMPANIONS. [Psalm 45:6-7] (Hebrews 1:9) Y shua Himself, read Isaiah 61 in the synagogue at Nazareth, and applied the prophecy to Himself: THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOOD NEWS TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, TO PROCLAIM FREEDOM FOR THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO RELEASE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF YHWH THE LORD. [Isaiah 61:1-2] (Luke 4:18) We may ask, why is the word Messiah not used more in the New Testament, especially when the NT is very clear that Y shua is the Messiah? The simple answer is that the NT writers mostly used a Greek word that was already in usage in the Greek world - christos, which, like Mashiach, means anointed. Christos, generally, has been transliterated into English as Christ, but if translated, it would read The Anointed. Today the term, The Messiah, is emphasized by Jewish believers who have in more recent times, discovered the truth that Y shua is indeed the Messiah - the One Israel has been waiting for, for so long. "There were indeed many other signs that Y'shua also performed in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written that you may believe that Y'shua is the Messiah (Jesus is the Christ), the Son of G od; and that believing, you may have life in His Name." (John 20:30-31) I pray that this message will help many readers, Gentiles as well as Jews, to find the Messiah, personally, and to receive the redemption and life that He alone can give.

THE MESSIAH HAS COME ISRAEL has been waiting thousands of years for the coming of HaMashiach - the Anointed King-Deliverer, the Seed who was first promised to Adam and Eve - the One who would crush the head of the serpent, Satan. Throughout history many have come claiming to be The Messiah, and many followers have believed that their particular leader was the Promised One. But none of the great political, military or religious Israeli leaders of the past or present have genuinely evidenced the prophesied requirements of true Messiahship. Except one - Y shua of Nazareth! But we would not describe Y shua as political, military or religious. A great number of Jews in the first century AD, firmly believed that Y shua was the Messiah. And hundreds of millions of people in the nations around the world have been strongly drawn to Him, believing that He is the Messiah and Saviour of the world. ( Jesus is an anglicized form of the name Y shua). Today there is a growing body of Jewish people around the world who believe with all their hearts that Y shua is indeed The Messiah. These Jewish believers, who are now numbered in hundreds of thousands, have dared to examine the life and teachings of the Man of Galilee. Subsequently they have embraced Y shua as the Messiah, and as their Redeemer. As they have studied more and more of the Torah, the Psalms, and the Prophets, and compared the prophecies with the NT records of the life of Y shua, their faith in Y shua as The Messiah has been strengthened. And as they have followed Him, they have not been disappointed. Like Gentile believers, they believe that Y shua died on the cross to pay the penalty of the sin of the world, and that He rose from the tomb and is alive for evermore. They believe Messiah returned to Heaven to intercede at the Throne of Grace so that people everywhere might believe in Him and receive His salvation. And they believe He will return in the clouds to establish the Messianic king-dom, just as the prophet Daniel foretold. In the night visions, I kept looking, and then there was One like the Son of Man, coming in the clouds of heaven. He came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. Then He was given authority, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and men of every language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. (Daniel 7:13-14) The Scripture prophecies clearly reveal that the Messianic kingdom will be established by the Root of Jesse, the father of King David. In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to Him; and His place of rest will be glorious. (Isaiah 11:10) The NT genealogies of Y shua document the physical descent of Y shua from Abraham, Jacob, David and Jesse. The reaction of many Jews, however, is, How can Y shua be The Messiah? He brought judgment on Israel, and the Jews have suffered tremendously because of Him, and because of His followers - even though He has been dead for nearly 2,000 years. This book gives documented evidence of the genuine Messiahship of Y shua. And I ask my Jewish friends and non-jewish readers, to weigh this evidence with an open mind. We will trace the Scriptural prophecies concerning the Anointed One in the OT, and will consider the corres-ponding historical record of Y shua of Galilee, in the New Testament. First, let's read Isaiah s statement concerning...

THE PERSON OF THE MESSIAH "For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government will rest upon His shoulders. His Name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6) THE GENEALOGY OF THE MESSIAH The Old Testament prophecies that Messiah would be... 1 The Seed of Adam and Eve - (Eve) I put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed (her descendant - Messiah); He will bruise and crush you on the head, and you will bruise and strike His heel. (Genesis 3:15) 2 The Seed of Abraham And in your Seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice. (Genesis 22:18) 3 The Seed of Isaac Then God said: No, Sarah your wife will truly bear a son to you, and you shall call his name Isaac. And I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed (descendants) after him. (Genesis 17:19) 4 The Seed of Jacob I see Him, but not now; I observe Him, but not near. A Star shall come out of Jacob; a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the sons of Sheth - tumult. (Numbers 24:17) 5 The Seed of Judah The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people. (Genesis 49:10) 6 The Seed of Jesse A shoot will spring up from the stem of Jesse, and from his roots a Branch will bear fruit... In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to Him; and His place of rest will be glorious. (Isaiah 11:1, 10) 7 The Seed of David For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will rest upon His shoulders. His Name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government and of peace. He will reign on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time on and for ever. The zeal of YHWH of Hosts will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7) In those days and at that time I will cause a Branch of Righteousness to spring up for David. He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. (Jeremiah 33:15)

TWO NT GENEALOGIES OF Y SHUA The New Testament gives two genealogies of Y'shua of Nazareth. Both are correct. Matthew, the first writer gives the royal, legal genealogy of Y shua right back to Abra-ham, through His adoptive father, Joseph. MATTHEW 1:1-17 The book of the genealogy of Y shua the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham. To Abraham was born Isaac; and to Isaac, Jacob; and to Jacob, Judah and his brothers; and to Judah were born Perez and Zerah by Tamar; and to Perez was born Hezron; and to Hezron, Ram; and to Ram was born Amminadab; and to Amminadab, Nahshon; and to Nahshon, Salmon; and to Salmon was born Boaz by Rahab; and to Boaz was born Obed by Ruth, and to Obed, Jesse; and to Jesse was born David the king. And to David was born Solomon by Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah; and to Solomon was born Rehoboam; and to Rehoboam, Abiyah; and to Abiyah, Asa; and to Asa was born Joshaphat; and to Joshaphat, Joram, and to Joram, Uzziah; and to Uzziah was born Jotham; and to Jotham, Ahaz; and to Ahaz, Hezekiah; and to Hezekiah was born Manasseh; and to Manasseh, Amon; and to Amon, Joshiah; and to Joshiah were born Jekoniah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to B abylon. And after the deportation to Babylon, to Jekoniah was born Shealtiel; and to Shealtiel, Zerubbabel; and to Zerubbabel was born Abihud; and to Abihud, Eliakim; and to Eliakim, Azor; and to Azor was born Tzadok; and to Tzadok, Achim; and to Achim, Elihud; and to Elihud was born Eleazar; and to Eleazar, Matthan; and to Matthan; and to Jacob was born Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom was born Y shua, who is called the Messiah. The second writer, Luke, gives a genealogy based on the actual blood descent of Y shua through Mary, daughter of Eli. Joseph, Mary s husband, is listed here, as he was the legal father of Y shua. And the genealogy is traced from Y shua back through Nathan, David, and Abraham, to Adam and God. LUKE 3:23-38 And when He began His ministry, Y shua Himself was about thirty years of age, being supposedly... the son of Joseph, the son of Matthat, the son of Melchi, the son of Joseph, the son of Amos, the son of Hesli, the son of Maath, the son of Semein, the son of Joda, the son of Rhesa, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Melchi, the son of Cosam, the son of Er, the son of Eliezer, the son of Matthat, the son-in-law of Eli, the son of Levi, the son of Jannai, the son of Mattathias, the son of Nahum, the son of Naggai, the son of Mattathias, the son of Josech, the son of Joanan, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Neri, the son of Addi, the son of Elmadam, the son of Joshua, the son of Jorim, the son of Levi,

the son of Simeon, the son of Joseph, the son of Eliakim, the son of Menna, the son of Nathan, the son of Jesse, the son of Boaz, the son of Nahshon, the son of Admin, the son of Hezron, the son of Judah, the son of Isaac, the son of Terah, the son of Serug, the son of Peleg, the son of Shelah, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Noah, the son of Methuselah, the son of Jared, the son of Cainan, the son of Seth, the son of God. the son of Judah, the son of Jonam, the son of Melea, the son of Mattatha, the son of David, the son of Obed, the son of Salmon, the son of Amminadab, the son of Ram, the son of Perez, the son of Jacob the son of Abraham, the son of Nahor, the son of Reu, the son of Heber, the son of Cainan, the son of Shem, the son of Lamech, the son of Enoch, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Enosh, the son of Adam, THE BIRTH OF THE MESSIAH 8 Messiah would be born in Bethlehem OT: But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too small to be noticed among the clans of Judah. From out of you will come forth for Me the One who will be ruler in Israel. (Micah 5:2) NT: After Y shua was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, wise men from the East arrived in Jerusalem. (Matthew 2:1) 9 Messiah would be born to a virgin OT: Therefore the Sovereign Master Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and will give birth to a Son, and will call His Name Immanuel (God with us). (Isaiah 7:14) NT: Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, a descendant of the house of David. The virgin s name was Mary... Then the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. Listen! You will become pregnant and will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the Name, Y SHUA...

How can this be, Mary asked the angel, since I am a virgin. The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will over-shadow you. For that reason the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God... For nothing will be impossible with God. Then Mary replied: Here am I, the servant of the LORD. Let it happen to me according to your word. Then the angel left her. (Luke 1:26-38) THE PRE-EXISTENCE OF THE MESSIAH 10 Messiah would be from Eternity OT: From out of you will come forth for Me the One who will be ruler in Israel. His origins are from of old - from eternity. (Micah 5:2) NT: And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:17) THE NAMES OF THE MESSIAH 11 Messiah would be called the Son of God OT: Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garments? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His Name or His Son s Name? Surely you know! (Proverbs 30:4) OT: I will proclaim the decree: YHWH said to Me, You are My Son. Today I have begotten You. (Psalm 2:7) NT: And a voice came from heaven, saying, This is My Son, My Beloved, I am well pleased with Him. (Matthew 3:17) NT: And whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and cry out, You are the Son of God! (Mark 3:11) 12 He would also be called the Son of Man OT: In the night visions, I kept looking, and then there was One like the Son of Man, coming in the clouds of heaven. He came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. (Daniel 7:13) NT: But in order for you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins - then He said to the paralytic, Rise, take up your bed, and go to your house. (Matthew 9:6) NT: But being full of the Holy Spirit, he (Stephen) gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Y'shua standing at the right hand of God; and he said, Look! I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the Right Hand of God. (Acts 7:55-56) 13 He would also be called Immanuel OT: Therefore the Sovereign Master Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and will give birth to a Son, and will call His Name Immanuel (God with us). (Isaiah 7:14) NT: Behold! The virgin shall conceive, and will give birth to a Son, and they shall call His Name Immanuel; which translated means, God is with us. When Joseph awoke from his sleep, he did as the angel of YHWH the LORD commanded him, and took her as his wife; but

he did not have sexual relations with her until after she had given birth to her firstborn Son; and he called His Name Y shua. (Matthew 1:23-25) 14 The Name of God would be in Him OT: Look, I am going to send an angel (Messenger) before you to guard you along the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Pay attention to Him and obey His voice; do not rebel against Him, for He will not pardon your transgression, for MY NAME IS IN HIM. (Exodus 23:20-21) The Name of the LORD (YHWH) begins with the initial Y. Yodh (Y) stands for Yah which is the short form of the Sacred Name of God, and it prefixes many Hebrew names such as Y hoshua, Y hudah, Y khanyahu (Jeconiah), Y hoshafat, Y horam, Y honachan, Y hua, Y shei, Y hoash, and Y SHUA. (Y SHUA means YHWH is Salvation ). 15 Messiah would be called Master (Lord) OT: YHWH says to my Sovereign Master, Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. YHWH will send the sceptre of Your strength from Zion, saying, Rule in the midst of Your enemies! (Psalm 110:1-2) NT: Y shua, while teaching in the temple, answered, How is it that the scribes say that the Messiah is the son of David? David himself said by the Holy Spirit, YHWH SAID TO MY LORD, SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES YOUR FOOTSTOOL. (Mark 12:35-37) THE MINISTRY OF THE MESSIAH 16 Messiah came to do the will of the Father OT: I have come. In the scroll of the book it is written of Me; I delight to do Your will, O My God. (Psalm 40:7-8) NT: Y shua said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. (John 4:34) NT: Father, if it is Your will, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done. (Luke 11:42) 17 Messiah would be a Prophet OT: I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. (Deuteronomy 18:18) NT: So the crowds were saying, This is Y shua, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee. (Matthew 21:11) 18 He would be a Priest OT: YHWH has sworn and will not change His mind, You are a priest forever, according to the order of Malkitzedek. (Psalm 110:4) NT: Therefore, holy brethren (you who are consecrated, sanctified and set apart for God), you who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Y shua - meditate on Him, the Apostle and High Priest whom we publicly confess. (Hebrews 3:1) 19 He would be a Judge OT: A throne will be established in kindness, and One will sit on it in truth, in the tent of David; judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness. (Isaiah 16:5) OT: O God, give Your judgments to the king, and Your righteousness to the king s Son. May He judge Your people with righteousness and Your poor with justice. (Psalm 72:1-2)

NT: In the presence of God and the Messiah, Y'shua, who is to judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom, I solemnly charge you: Preach the Word! (2 Timothy 4:1-2) 20 He would be a King OT: There will be no end to the increase of His government and of peace. He will reign on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time on and for ever. The zeal of YHWH of Hosts will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:7) NT: Pilate therefore said to Him, Are You a king then? Y shua answered, You say correctly that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice. (John 18:37) 21 He would be Anointed by the Spirit of YHWH OT: The Spirit of YHWH will rest upon Him - The Spirit of Wisdom and of Understanding, The Spirit of Counsel and of Power, The Spirit of Knowledge and of the Fear of YHWH. (Isaiah 11:2) NT: As soon as Y shua was baptized, He went up out of the water; and at that moment, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting upon Him. And a voice came from heaven, saying, This is My Son, My Beloved, I am well pleased with Him. (Matthew 3:16-17) 22 He would have great zeal for the House of God OT: Because zeal for Your House has eaten me up, and the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me. (Psalm 69:9) NT: Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and Y shua went up to Jerusalem. And He fo und in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting doing business. And having made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers coins and overturned the tables. And He said to those selling doves, Take these things out of here! Do not make the House of My Father a house of merchandise! Then His disciples remembered that it was written, THE ZEAL FOR YOUR HOUSE HAS EATEN ME UP. (John 2:13-17) 23 He would be preceded by a Messenger OT: A voice is crying in the wilderness; Prepare the way of YHWH, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (Isaiah 40:3) NT: In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.' This is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet, 'THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDER-NESS, PREPARE THE WAY OF YHWH (the LORD), MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT!' (Matthew 3:1-3) 24 He would minister in Galilee OT: But there will be no more gloom for her who was in distress; as when at first He lightly esteemed the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphthali, but later on He will honour her, by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, in Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; upon those who live in the land of the shadow of death, the light has shone. (Isaiah 9:1-2) NT: Now Y shua, having heard that John had been put in prison, He withdrew to Galilee. And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: THE LAND OF ZEBULUN AND THE LAND OF NAPHTALI, BY THE WAY OF THE SEA, BEYOND THE JORDAN, GALILEE OF THE GENTILES; THE PEOPLE WHO SAT IN

DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT, AND UPON THOSE WHO SAT IN THE REGION AND SHADOW OF DEATH LIGHT HAS DAWNED. From that time Y shua began to preach, crying out, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near. (Matthew 4:12-17) 25 His ministry would include miracles OT: Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped. The lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb will shout for joy. For the waters will break forth in the wilderness and streams in the Arabah. (Isaiah 35:5-6) NT: And Y shua was going about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness. (Matthew 9:35) 26 He would often teach through parables OT: I open My mouth in a parable; I utter hidden things of old. (Psalm 78:2) NT: All these things Y shua spoke to the multitudes in parables, and He did not say anything to them without using a parable. This was in fulfilment of what was spoken through the prophet, I WILL OPEN MY MOUTH IN PARABLES; I WILL UTTER THINGS HIDDEN SINCE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD. (Matthew 13:34-35) 27 He would suddenly enter the Temple OT: The Master whom you seek will suddenly come to His temple. (Malachi 3:1) NT: Then Y shua went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Y shua said to them, Do you not see all these things? I tell you the truth, not one stone shall be left here upon an other that shall not be thrown down. (Matthew 24:1-2) 28 He would ride into Jerusalem on a donkey OT: Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and having salvation, humble, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. (Zechariah 9:9) NT: Now when they came near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Y shua sent two disciples, saying to them, Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loosen them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, The Master needs them, and immediately he will send them. All this was done that it might be fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet, saying: TELL THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, LOOK! YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, MEEK, AND SITTING ON A DONKEY, AND ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A DONKEY. So the disciples went, and having done as Y shua commanded them, they brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and He sat on them. (Matthew 21:1-7) 29 He would be a Light to the Gentile nations OT: I, YHWH, have called You in righteousness, and I take hold of Your hand and guard You, and give You for a covenant to the people, and a light to the Gentiles, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison, and to release from the dungeon those who sit is darkness. (Isaiah 42:6-7) NT: And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: THE PEOPLE WHO SAT IN DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT, AND UPON THOSE WHO SAT IN THE REGION AND SHADOW OF DEATH LIGHT HAS DAWNED. (Matthew 4:13-14, 16) Master, now You will let Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; for my eyes have seen Your Salvation (Your Yeshu ah) which You have prepared in the presence of all

peoples, a Light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the Glory of Your people Israel. (Luke 2:29-32) THE ENMITY, AND THE REJECTION OF THE MESSIAH 30 He would be a "rejected stone," but would become the Chief Cornerstone OT: The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner - the cornerstone or captsone. This was from YHWH; it is marvellous in our eyes. (Psalm 118:22-23) NT: Because it is also contained in the Scripture, SEE, I LAY IN ZION A CHOSEN AND PRECIOUS CORNER STONE, AND HE WHO BELIEVES ON HIM WILL BY NO MEANS BE PUT TO SHAME. Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED HAS BECOME THE HEAD OF THE CORNER - THE CORNERSTONE or CAPTSONE, and A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENCE. They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. (1 Peter 2:6-8) 31 He would be betrayed by a friend OT: Even my friend and ally, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me. (Psalm 41:9) NT: I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but it is that the Scripture may be fulfilled, HE WHO EATS BREAD WITH ME HAS LIFTED UP HIS HEEL AGAINST ME. From now on I am telling you, before it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may believe that I am He... When Y shua had said this, He was troubled in spirit and testified. He said, Most definitely, I tell you, that one of you will betray Me. (John 13:18-19, 21)... and Judas Iscariot, the one wh o betrayed Him. (Matthew 10:4) This Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve close disciples of Y shua, ate the Passover with Y shua on the same night he betrayed Him. 32 He would be betrayed for thirty pieces of silver OT: And I said to them, If you think it good, give me my wages; but if not, don t give! So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. (Zechariah 11:12) NT: Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chi ef priests and said, What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you? And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. So from that time he sought a good opportunity to betray Him. (Matthew 26:14-16) 33 The Messiah s blood money would be cast into the House of the LORD OT: And YHWH said to me, Throw it to the potter - that handsome price at which they priced me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the House of YHWH for the potter. (Zechariah 11:13) NT: Then he (Judas Iscariot) threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary and departed, and went and hanged himself. (Matthew 27:5) 34 The blood money would be given for a potter s field OT: And YHWH said to me, Throw it to the potter - that handsome price at which they priced me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the House of YHWH for the potter. (Zechariah 11:13) NT: And the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood. So they took counsel and bought with the silver the potter s field, for the burial of strangers. (Matthew 27:6-7)

35 He would be forsaken by His followers OT: O sword, awake against My Shepherd, against the Man who is My companion, declares YHWH of Hosts. Smite the Shepherd, and the she ep will be scattered. (Zechariah 13:7) NT: Then Y shua said to them, All of you will be offended because of Me this night -you will all flee away;for it has been written; I WILL STRIKE THE SHEPHERD, AND THE SHEEP WILL BE SCATTERED... Then all the disciples deserted Him and fled. (Mark 14:27, 50) 36 His friends would stand afar off OT: My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague; and my neighbours stand afar off. (Psalm 38:11) NT: But all the acquaintances of Y shua, including the women who accompanied Him from Galilee, were standing at a distance, watching these things. (Luke 23:49) 37 He would be accused by false witnesses OT: Violent and ruthless witnesses rise up; they question me on things I know nothing about. (Psalm 35:11) NT: Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council were seeking false testimony against Y shua in order to put Him to death, but found none, even though many false witnesses came forward. (Matthew 26:59-60) 38 He would remain silent before His accusers OT: He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; like a lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth. (Isaiah 53:7) NT: And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He gave no answer. (Matthew 27:12) 39 He would be rejected by His own people OT: He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces. He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. (Isaiah 53:3) NT: Then Pilate, having called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people, said to them. You have brought this Man to me, as one who incites the people to rebellion. And indeed, having examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him; and neither did Herod, for I sent you back to him; and look, He has done nothing worthy of death. I will therefore punish Him and release Him. (For it was necessary for him to release one to them at the feast.) But they all cried out - the whole crowd, saying, Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas - a man who had been thrown into prison for a certain insurrection made in the city, and for murder. Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Y shua, again called o ut to them. But they kept shouting, Crucify Him, crucify Him! And he said to them the third time, Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and release Him. But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed. So Pilate gave sentence that their demand should be granted. And he released to them the one they were asking for, who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder; but he turned Y shua over to their will. (Luke 23:13-18, 21-25) 40 He would be hated without a cause OT: Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. They are mighty who would destroy me - my lying enemies! (Psalm 69:4)

NT: But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which was written in their law, THEY HATED ME WITHOUT A CAUSE. (John 15:25) Even though Y shua had done nothing wrong, He was hated, and the crowd clamoured for His death. 41 People would shake their heads at Him OT: And I, I have become a reproach to them; when they see me, they shake their heads. (Psalm 109:25) NT: And those passing by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads. (Matthew 27:39) 42 People would stare at Him OT: I can count all My bones. They look, they stare at Me. (Psalm 22:17) NT: Now the people stood watching, but the rulers scoffed and sneered at Him. He saved others, they said, let Him save Himself if He is really the Messiah, the One chosen by God. (Luke 23:35) THE WOUNDS AND SUFFERING OF THE MESSIAH 43 He would be pierced OT: But He was pierced through for our transgressions. (Isaiah 53:5) NT: But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and instantly blood and water came out. (John 19:34) 44 He would be bruised OT: He was bruised for our iniquities. (Isaiah 53:5) NT: Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others slapped Him, saying, Prophesy to us, Messiah! Who is the one who struck You? (Matthew 26:67-68) 45 He would be scourged OT: The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5) NT: Then he released Barabbas to them; and after scourging Y shua, he delivered Him over to be crucified. (Matthew 27:26) 46 His hands would be wounded OT: And someone will say to him, What are these wounds in your hands? Then he shall say, These are the wounds I received in the house of those who love me. (Zechariah 13:6) Y'shua was nailed to the execution stake. Nails were driven through His hands. After His resurrection, He showed the wounds in His hands to His disciples. NT: And having said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples therefore rejoiced when they saw the Master. (John 20:20) 47 He would be smitten and humiliated OT: I gave my back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from humiliation and spiti ng. (Isaiah 50:6) NT: Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others slapped Him. (Matthew 26:67) 48 He would be mocked OT: All who see Me, mock Me; they grimace and shake the head, saying, Cast yourself on YHWH! Let Him deliver Him! Let Him rescue Him, since He has delighted in Him. (Psalm 22:7-8)

NT: Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left. And those passing by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads, and saying, You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the stake. Likewise the chief priests, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking and saying, He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the stake, and we will believe Him. He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, I am the Son of God. Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same insults. (Matthew 27:38-44) 49 He would be weak, and an object of scorn OT: My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh has grown lean, without fatness. And I, I have become a reproach to them; when they see me, they shake their heads. (Psalm 109:24-25) NT: And those passing by were blaspheming Him, wagging their heads and saying, Ha! You who destroy the Temple and build it in three days, save Yourself, and come down from the stake! (Mark 15:29-30) 50 He would be put to death alongside transgressors OT: He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For He Himself bore the sin of many, and interceded f or the transgressors. (Isaiah 53:12) NT: Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and another on the left. (Matthew 27:38) 51 His hands and feet would be pierced OT: A band of evildoers has encircled Me. They pierced My hands and My feet. (Psalm 22:16) NT: And when they came to Calvary, the place called 'The Skull,' there they crucified Him along with the criminals - one of His right, the other on His left. (Luke 23:33) Roman crucifixion usually demanded the nailing of the victim to a stake. Nails were hammered into the hands, or wrists, and the feet of criminals in various ways. After His resurrection, Y shua showed His wounded hands and side to His disciples. NT: And having said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples therefore rejoiced when they saw the Master. (John 20:20) 52 His bones would be out of joint OT: I am poured out like water, all My bones are out of joint. (Psalm 22:14) NT: There they crucified Him. (Luke 23:33) In this cruel form of Roman execution, a person was first nailed to a stake. The stake was then dropped into a hole in the ground so that it stood upright. Because of the nail-ing of the hands and feet, the body of Y shua, as with all crucified victims, was wrenched, and His joints dislocated. 53 But none of His bones would be broken OT: He keeps and protects all His bones; not one of them is br oken. (Psalm 34:20) The Romans would, when necessary, hasten the death of a crucified person by breaking his legs. NT: Therefore, because it was the day of preparation, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate to have their legs broken, and that they be taken away. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man, and of the other who was crucified with Him. But when they came to Y shua and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. (John 19:31-33)

54 He would intercede for His persecutors OT: He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For He Himself bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors. (Isaiah 53:12) NT: Then Y shua prayed, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. (Luke 23:34) 55 Lots would be cast for His garments OT: They divide My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots. (Psalm 22:18) NT: Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Y shua, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, wov en from the top in one piece. So they said to each other, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it - whose it shall be, that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says, THEY DIVIDED MY GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND FOR MY CLOTHING THEY CAST LOTS. [Ps 22:18]. Therefore the soldiers did these things. (John 19:23-24) 56 He would suffer thirst OT: For my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. (Psalm 69:21) NT: After this, Y shua, knowing that all things were now accomplish ed, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, I am thirsty! (John 19:28) 57 He would be offered gall and vinegar to drink OT: They also gave me gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. (Psalm 69:21) NT: They gave Him wine mingled with gall to drink. And after tasting it, He would not drink. (Matthew 27:34) Gall is a poisonous, bitter herb. A stupefying drink, made of wine with gall, was offered to Y shua, but He would not drink it. 58 He would utter a forsaken cry OT: El-i, El-i, lemah shebachtani? My God, my God; Why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from saving Me, and from the words of My groaning? (Psalm 22:1) NT: And about the ninth hour Y shua cried out with a loud voice, saying, E-li, El-i, lemah shebachtani? that is, MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME? (Matthew 27:46) 59 He would commit Himself to God OT: Into Your hand I commit My spirit. You have redeemed me, O YHWH, God of truth. (Psalm 31:5) NT: Then Y shua, called out with a loud voice, Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT. And with these words He gave up His spirit and breathed His last. (Luke 23:46) 60 His heart would break OT: My heart has become like wax; it has melted within Me. (Psalm 22:14) NT: But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and instantly blood and water came out. (John 19:34) The blood and water which came forth from His side is believed to be evidence that Y shua s heart had literally burst. The appearance of both blood and water indicate that He had been dead long enough for the blood to separate into its component elements. 61 His side would be pierced

OT: And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication, so they will look on Me, the One they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly for Him, like the bitter weeping over a lost first-born. (Zechariah 12:10) NT: But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and instantly blood and water came out. (John 19:34) 62 The sun would go down at midday OT: And it shall be in that day, declares the Sovereign Master YHWH, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and darken the earth on a bright day. (Amos 8:9) NT: Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. (12 noon to 3 pm). (Matthew 27:45) 63 The Festival would be turned into mourning as for an only son OT: I will turn your festivals into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on every waist, and baldness on every head. And I will make it like a time of mourning for an only son, and its end like a day of bitterness. (Amos 8:10) This prophecy was fulfilled when Y shua died. There was great mourning in Israel, for many people had seen His mighty miracles, and had believed in Him. There will also be another day, as Zechariah declared, when Israel will mourn because of the One they pierced. This will occur on the coming day when the Messiah will be revealed to Israel. OT: And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication, so they will look on Me, the One they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly for Him, like the bitter weeping over a (lost) first-born. (Zechariah 12:10) 64 The iniquity of men would be laid on Him OT: All of us like sheep have gone astray. Each of us has turned to his own way, but YHWH has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him. (Isaiah 53:6) NT: So the Messiah, the Anointed One, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not bearing sin again, but bringing salvation to those who are eagerly expecting Him. (Hebrews 9:28) THE DEATH AND BURIAL OF THE MESSIAH 65 He would be buried in a rich man s to mb OT: He was assigned a grave with the wicked, yet with the rich in His death, though He had done no violence, nor was there any deceit in His mouth. (Isaiah 53:9) NT: Now when evening came, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Y shua. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Y shua. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. After taking the body, Joseph wrapped it in clean linen, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and went away. (Matthew 27:57-60) 66 He would rise from the dead OT: For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; (the grave or place of the dead), neither will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. (Psalm 16:10)

NT: And the angel said to them, Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Y shua of Nazareth who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here; See the place where they laid Him. (Mark 16:6) NT: For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance, that the Messiah died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of who remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles... But the fact is that the Messiah has been raised from the dead, and He became the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep - (believers who have died). (1 Corinthians 15:3-7, 20) THE ASCENSION AND VINDICATION OF THE MESSIAH 67 He would ascend to Heaven OT: You have ascended on high; You have led captivity captive; You have received gifts among men, even among the rebellious, that Yah God may dwell there. (Psalm 68:18) NT: Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was caught up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. (Acts 1:9) 68 He would be seated at the Right Hand of YHWH OT: YHWH says to my Master, Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. (Psalm 110:1) NT: The Son being the radiance of God s glory and the exact representation of His very being and nature, upholds all things by His powerful word. And after He had, by offering Himself, purged our sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. (Hebrews 1:3) 69 He would be crowned with glory and majesty OT: You have made Him a little lower than the angels of God, and have crowned Him with glory and honour! (Psalm 8:5) NT: But we do see Y shua, who was made for a little while lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour because He suffered death - for the grace of God, working for the salvation of sinners, required that He should taste death for everyone. In bringing many sons to glory, it was most appropriate that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the Author of their salvation p erfect through suffering. (Hebrews 2:9-10) 70 He would rule over everything OT: You made Him rule over the works of Your hands; You put everything under His feet. (Psalm 8:6) NT: For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET. But when He says, All things are put in subjection, it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. And when all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, that God may be all in all. (1 Corinthians 15:27-28) THE REIGN AND KINGDOM OF THE MESSIAH 71 He will come with the clouds OT: In the night visions, I kept looking, and then there was One like the Son of Man, coming in the clouds of heaven. He came up to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. (Daniel 7:13)

NT: Look! He is COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even THOSE WHO PIERCED HIM; and all the tribes of the earth WILL MOURN BECAUSE OF HIM. Even so, Amen (let it be)! (Revelation 1:7) NT: For the Master Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. Then the dead in Christ - those who died in union with the Messiah - shall rise first. Then we, the living believers who remain, will simultaneously be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Master in the air. And so we will be with the Master for ever. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) 72 He would be given a kingdom and an eternal dominion OT: Then He was given authority, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and men of every language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. (Daniel 7:14) NT: These are in accordance with the working of His mighty streng th which He exerted in the Messiah, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right and in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one t o come. And He put all things under His feet, and made Him the Head over all things for the Church - the universal assembly of believers who are in fellowship with Y shua - which is His body, the fulness of Him who fills all in all. (Ephesians 1:19-23) NT: Therefore (because He stooped so low), God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the Name that is above every name, that at the Name of Y shua every knee should bow - in heaven and on earth and under the earth - and every tongue confess that Y shua the Messiah is Lord (the Heavenly Master), to the glory of YHWH, God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11) MORE MESSIANIC PROPHECIES AND DECLARATIONS An Angelic Declaration NT: And an angel of the LORD suddenly appeared to them, and the Glory of YHWH the LORD shone around them; and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid! I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people; for today in the town of David, a Saviour has been born to you. He is Christ, the Messiah, the Sovereign Master. (Luke 2:9-12) Y shua s Declaration about His Ministry NT: For YHWH, the Almighty God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten (His unique) Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him, should not perish, but have eternal (everlasting) life. (John 3:16) The Authority and Exaltation of Y shua the Messiah NT: And Y shua came up and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (Matthew 28:18) NT: These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength which He exerted in Christ, the Messiah, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. (Ephesians 1:19-21) NT: In these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the ages and the universe. The Son being the radiance of God s glory and the exact representation of His very being and nature, upholds all things by His powerful word. And after He had, by offering Himself, purged our sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. (Hebrews 1:2-3)
