Transcription:

Resurrection Life December 2017 celebration of the divine Truth that God is always with us. During His earthly life, our Lord Jesus himself affirms this truth when he said, surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:20). A celebration of Christmas must affirm the abiding presence of God in Christ with us. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Isaiah, the Prophet of God, foretold the birth of our Lord Jesus many, many years before His birth. In this prophesy God was assuring His people that he has not and will not forget them. Also God was preparing His people to be ready to receive this wonderful gift of baby Jesus when he comes. In our Church life we relive this twofold aspect of Christmas in our liturgical life. We spend four weeks of Advent reminding ourselves that God has not forgotten us. We embrace the Divine Truth that we are about to receive again and celebrate the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. The One whose name is Immanuel - God with us. So we use this time of Advent to prepare our hearts and minds to receive our Wonderful Counselor, our Mighty God in and through the Child, the Son that is given to us. After the four weeks of Advent comes the Joyful, festive time of Christmas. Beginning December 25 and for the next twelve days, the people of God receive with joy and thanksgiving the gracious gift of God - His Son, our Lord Jesus. In our celebration we affirm that this gift is not only for the entire world, but for each of us personally as well. So, our joyful, festive celebration finds meaning and fulfillment when we receive the gift of Jesus anew. We do not just celebrate his birth in Bethlehem two centuries ago, but we celebrate Him being born anew in our lives and among us. The joyful, festive celebration of Christmas therefore, is a So, as we celebrate Christmas again this year, let us affirm and reaffirm that the Christ Child is our Savior and Lord. He is with us at all times and in every situation. He will never abandon us nor forsake us. This is reason to celebrate. Therefore, let us celebrate Christmas 2017 with joy and thanksgiving. Jennifer, our children and grandchildren join me in wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with the abundance of God s grace. God bless you all! Pastor James T. Gajadhar Shared Faith Ministries Resurrection Lutheran Church & St. John s Lutheran Church Saturday, January 6, 2018 EPIPHANY Service at Resurrection beginning at 7:00pm 1

Joy in reaching out to people everywhere with God s Word And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 With the invention of electronic communication via the internet our world is so much more accessible. Missionaries who were once in very remote places now have access to the outside world through generator-powered computers. When Jesus spoke to His disciples about reaching the whole world with the Gospel they must have thought He was exaggerating. How could this message actually be preached everywhere? Today we see evidence of that message being spread to the outermost parts of the earth. We may not personally be able to share the Gospel around the world, but we can make our Christian witness known in our daily lives. We can support our church s missionary efforts with prayer and financial gifts. What joy we have in knowing God s Word is reaching people everywhere. Walking with my Lord Heavenly Father, support and strengthen missionaries everywhere as they deal with the hardships and joys of speaking Your saving Word to those still in the darkness of sin. Give me strength to boldly witness of You. In Jesus Name. Amen. Our next meeting will be on Tues. DEC. 12, 2017 @ 6:30pm 2 REMINDER: This will be our last meeting until March 2018, so please remember to continually fill your mite boxes every penny counts. Please Note the time change: Tues. 12/12/17 @ 6:30pm for our CHRISTmas celebration. Remember to bring your food and wrapped gift for the Christmas exchange. Always Remember your Mite Boxes...
