CONNECTING PEOPLE TO JESUS AND LOVING OUR COMMUNITY For Crossroads to work the way God designed us to work, there needs to be fusion. We are all people with widely differing thoughts, talents, opinions, and passions. However, as different as we are, we must be joined together fused together to work as one body of Christ. Every person has something to offer to grow God s kingdom. We are never too young to serve and we never retire from serving. It is our dream and passion that everyone who walks through the doors of Crossroads will find a ministry where they can serve and use the talents God has given them. This book lists and describes the ministries at Crossroads Christian Church. We invite you to read through it, pray about it, and find a place to fuse into this church. Find a place where you can serve and be a part of what God is doing in Macon and beyond! Matt Stieger Lead Minister Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. SERVING ON SUNDAY MORNINGS Communion Meditation: The communion meditation ministry helps focus people during Sunday service on the topic of communion. This is a brief thought from the bible, idea from a book, life experience or simple challenge. This is to help people shift their focus from distractions to the sacrifice of Jesus. Communion Preparation: This is an important part of our worship service. This ministry consists of preparing communion on Saturday for Sunday services. On Sunday, the communion is set out for first service and replenished for the following services. You will also need to clean trays and put bread away for the next week. You can partner up with others, if you like. Each person or group takes a month at a time. First Impressions: The mission of First Impressions is to create a welcoming first impression of Crossroads before people enter the front door. Our responsibilities include being the first smile people see, helping people to and from their car, carrying items, opening the door and providing an umbrella when needed. We also help anyone back to their car if needed. We want everyone to see the hands of Christian kindness at work. Greeters: You are the next face people see after the First Impressions team Sunday morning. Greeters welcome and assist guests by handing out bulletins, directing a tour of the premises, or simply saying hello with a smile. Home Communion: This ministry is a service to those who may be hindered from participating in the Lord's Supper during worship services. Anyone willing to serve and encourage may participate in home communion visits. Hostess Ministry: The hostess ministry oversees the coffee and doughnut counter in the lobby of the church. A team sets up before services, maintains food trays, refills juice and cleans up after services. This ministry is designed to help people feel 5 comfortable and welcome at Crossroads. There are two shifts available to serve: 8:00 9:30 A.M. and 9:30 11:00 A.M. Nursery: It is the hope of the nursery ministry that our team will meet each child s individual needs. We hope each child will come to know, love, and serve the Lord. Infant nursery: The infant nursery is upstairs and is for ages birth to walking. This ministry provides care to children during all three Sunday morning services as well as some special church events. Toddler nursery: The toddler nursery is a specific nursery for our walking babies. This nursery provides an environment that is safe and enjoyable for those who are "toddling" around. Games, songs, lessons and activities are offered on a level they can understand. This nursery is available during our 9:30 and 11am services. Security: Our security team ensures that Crossroads is a safe place to celebrate Jesus. Moving throughout the corridors of the church on Sunday morning and all events, these volunteers serve to ensure everyone is safe and secure. Servers: The sole responsibility of servers is to pass communion and offering trays so attendees may participate in communion and offering. Transportation: The Transportation ministry provides safe, dependable and clean transport for people in need of help to and from church and church-related events. This ministry also assesses and plans for future transportation needs and recruits drivers for Sundays and events. Ushers: The ministry of the usher is to assist people entering the Worship Center on Sunday morning. This may mean helping a guest find a seat, locating a family member, shaking a hand, or greeting people with a smile. The ushers also oversee organizing Servers for the day and counting attendance. Welcome Ministry: Our main functions are to greet members as they enter the building, and to identify guests and help them 6

feel welcome. We hand out information about the church, handle congregational gifts, and operate as the information center of the church. We have teams of greeters in the Worship Center entrance and at the Welcome Center in the foyer. GETTING INVOLVED WITH WORSHIP Creative Arts: The creative arts ministry works hand-in-hand with the preaching & worship ministry. These volunteers help develop and build stage designs based on the Sunday morning teaching topics. Multimedia and Sound Ministry: This is a behind-the-scenes team working with and providing support for all areas of ministry to assist in creating a positive and distraction-free worship atmosphere. This includes, but is not limited to: sound control, troubleshooting, stage set-up, lighting, recording of services, camera operation, video presentations and production, Pro Presenter programming, and other visual aids during services and programs. One of the exciting aspects of this team is innovative and changing technology within a growing and developing church, and creating new and exciting worship experiences for everyone at Crossroads. Music & Worship: The Music & Worship Ministry is tasked, first and foremost, with bringing people to the foot of the cross so they may have a closer, more intimate relationship with the Father. The ministry's focus is to accomplish that task through the power of music. The Music & Worship Ministry not only provides the weekly musical worship needs of the church, but also is involved with seasonal musical programs, such as Christmas and Easter celebrations, and special events, such as "Night of Worship." LOVING OUR COMMUNITY Agape Café: The mission of the Crossroads Agape Cafe is to provide free meals and build relationships with anyone in macon who has the needs. The Agape cafe delivers meals every Saturday. There are plenty of jobs for anyone who is wanting to volunteer. The following are some of the jobs needing volunteers. Cook: Cooks are responsible for preparing the meals. You don't need to be the next food network star, but you do need to know your way around the kitchen. Meals are typically prepared Friday night/saturday Morning for around 225 people a week. Desserts: The best part of the meal. As a dessert volunteer, you will be asked to prepare a dessert that will feed 12-18 people. These desserts need to be individually wrapped and can be dropped of at the church at any time. Deliveries: People volunteering for this role will meet Saturday morning and help box up meals. These boxed meals are then divided into different routes around town and you help deliver by taking a route or two. Community Involvement: The Community Involvement Ministry exists to reach out to people in the community and meet them where they are. We do this by holding events, sponsoring teams, or serving our city to be involved with people as much as possible. Connections Ministry: The Connections Ministry has three important phases of connection. One, is to help new visitors and attenders to Crossroads take a step into the community of the church. Two, is to help new Christians continue the process of following Jesus after baptism. Three, is to help people connect to the best place for them to serve. Dollar Club: Can you give a dollar more? After every service there are green buckets located at the worship center doors. 7 8

The money collected here goes right back into the community to help bless families when there is a need. Help us see what God can do with one more dollar! Funeral Dinners: WANTED: Compassionate people with a desire to bring comfort and healing to those grieving the loss of a loved one. This group has been ministering since the church was established. The church provides families a meal and a place to gather. Workers are needed to provide food and/or serve the meal on a rotating basis. Hla Newsletter: The Hla newsletter meets on the third Thursday of every month. We go out for lunch together. Following lunch we fold, tape, sort and label the newsletter for James Hla, a missionary in Thailand/Burma whom we love and appreciate. Missions: Paul, in Romans 10:14-15, says How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one who they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? The goal of the missions ministry is to provide support (prayer, moral, logistical, financial, communication and re-entry) for persons serving in the mission field. The current missions supported by Crossroads are James Hla (Thailand), Jared Hla (Burma), Tri-County Christian School (Macon), Shiloh Christian Children s Ranch, Sonlight Ministries (Haiti), SCCA Summer Camp (Clarence), New Missions System and Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly) Share and Care: The mission of Share and Care is to reach out to church members and the community by preparing and delivering meals to individuals at home who are recovering from illness, hospitalization, birth of a new baby and injury. We provide when notified of a need. 9 CONNECTING PEOPLE TO JESUS Building and Grounds: This ministry is to oversee the ongoing maintenance, repairs, and improvements to our building and grounds, and to coordinate and organize men and women within the church to help with these projects. Another aspect of this ministry is to provide a service to our church family and an outreach to our community by providing home maintenance and repair at no cost to those who are in need. If you would like to help in this ministry or know of someone who can be blessed by this ministry, please contact the church office. Card Ministry: The card ministry meets every third Saturday of the month to make birthday and other cards. Even if you do not consider yourself artistic, you can still help! The cards are planned and ready to make. This is a great opportunity for fellowship as you help address, stamp and tape! Supplies are provided. Christian Education: Our church provides Sunday School classes for all ages regardless of marital status or knowledge of the Bible. To teach a class or to participate, please contact the Christian Education Committee. In addition, this committee ensures that all Crossroads activities help folks of all ages know and love God more and help oversee the activities of the children s ministry. College Students: This ministry provides a home away from home for college students. One easy way we work to accomplish this is by providing a home cooked meal after Sunday service for the hungry college age during the school year. We also work to provide safe environments to ask questions and help students live out their own faith. Communications: This ministry s goal is to help the activities and people of the church be on the same page. This team helps ensure all of the printed materials coming from the church communicate our purpose and are presented in an attractive 10

and professional way. These volunteers also provide announcements at the beginning of each church service. Fellowship: The main goal of this ministry is to provide fun, exciting, and unique opportunities to bring the congregation together and strengthen the body. Fellowship events include our Souperbowl Party, Leaders BBQ, Fall Kick-off and the Thanksgiving meal. In addition to lots of delicious food, these events offer the church opportunities to get to know one another better. These events also provide an opportunity to welcome the many new faces around Crossroads. Game Feed: One of the biggest community outreach and fellowship events of our church is our annual Game Feed. This event has developed into an evening of tons of great food, entertainment and loving our community rolled in to one. The night includes a speaker, fantastic prizes, laughter and most of all prides a tremendous opportunity for every member of Crossroads to serve others. The places to serve range from the planning committee, the set-up crew, cooks and kitchen help, servers, dishwashers, ushers, door greeters, the parking lot team all the way to the clean-up crew at the end of the event. Empty Nesters: The Empty Nesters is for those who are around the 45-60 plus age group and who have grown up kids that are out of the nest, (some temporary). We meet once a quarter to do something fun and entertaining. We meet in February, May, August & November. Check us out on Facebook at Crossroads Empty Nesters. J.O.Y (Just Older Youth): Our Just Older Youth meet once a month on the second Thursday at 11:00 A.M. This ministry is for those 60+ years and older. We do a variety of things including going to area restaurants, plays, historical sites around Missouri, bringing in special speakers and going to area conferences. We also share in a Bible Study every Thursday we don't have a meeting. On the 4th Thursday, we go out to eat after Bible Study. Check us out on Facebook at JOY - Just Older Youth. 11 Library: The goal of the library is to provide resources for people of the congregation to grow in their knowledge of Jesus and live like Him. The library has fiction and non-fiction books as well as videos, DVDs and other types of resources. Organization of this ministry requires stamping and alphabetizing books, dusting of shelves, ordering new books, and maintaining the existing books. Life Groups: Life Groups are small groups of people who meet regularly throughout the week in people s homes. Together they study the Bible, fellowship, and share life together. Life groups provide you with an opportunity to grow closer to Jesus, learn how to live out God s purpose for your life, strengthen your prayer life, and meet new friends. Life groups offer a fantastic opportunity for new members of the church to connect and build relationships with those they do not know well. As Crossroads continues to grow, life groups will become more vital in helping the church stay connected spiritually and physically. These groups vary in location, age and interest. Men s Ministry: Relaxing, enjoyable, exciting events and activities designed to bring the Men (college age and above) of Crossroads together for fellowship, fun, devotion, prayer and of course plenty of FOOD! As men we are called to be leaders; leaders of our families, leaders at work, leaders in our communities and leaders in our church. This is not an easy task and is often a calling we are not comfortable with, nor sometimes do even feel qualified to do. The main goal of the Men's ministry is to strengthen and encourage such leadership, to equip men with the mental and spiritual tools to do so and to enhance and increase the involvement of the men of our church. Photography Ministry: The photography ministry has the task of capturing visual images of all the different groups and events that make up our church body. This group's mission is to supply the church with enough pictures to create a very visual website, a variety of media, and advertisement opportunities. 12

Prayer Room: The prayer room ministry is an opportunity during the worship hours to spend time in prayer, lifting up each one involved in the worship service. It is also a time to pray for everyone in the congregation, our church leaders, and the many involved in teaching and serving in all areas of the church. Many who are already involved in this ministry have commented that the time goes by so fast and that they receive such a blessing during that time. Special Needs: This ministry team hosts Respite Nights for families with children with special needs and also helps to ensure that all of our activities are open to individuals regardless of their physical or mental abilities. Tri-County Christian School: TCCS, established in 1994, is located right behind Crossroads. The School offers a private-christian education to students in grades K through 5th Grade. The school uses A Beka Book curriculum. In addition, there is also a daycare and preschool for children who are potty trained, ages two to five. Two- and 3-year-olds attend PeeWee class on Tuesdays and Thursdays to learn about numbers, letters, shapes and colors. Three- and 4- year-olds attend Middler class on Monday, Wed., and Friday to learn about letter recognition and sounds, shapes, colors and numbers. The Pre-Kindergarten classes are held daily for 4- and 5-year-olds. Crossroads works in close proximity with TCCS as a mission outreach. Women s Ministry: The Women s Ministry is responsible for uniting women from all walks of life to spend some much needed time together. When we meet, it is not a program or business meeting. We study, pray and talk about our spiritual walk together. It is a chance to catch our breath and focus. Our regular monthly meetings are always the 2 nd Tuesday of every month with the exception of July and August. 13 Sunday Mornings: Every Sunday morning during all three worship services, Crossroads Kids has classes available for all age groups. With secure check-in and approved volunteers, we are fully and safely equipped to serve you and your family. We also have buddies for any and all of our special needs kids. Our Nursery is located upstairs, and is available for newborns. The Toddler Nursery is available downstairs for those who are mobile, but not yet two years of age. Our Preschool and Elementary kids have full programming every hour. Our Preschoolers start in their agerespective rooms, then gather together for fun, worship, and our lesson. Our Elementary kids begin in their age-respective rooms, then gather together for games, worship, and our lesson. With exciting monthly themes and bottom lines for each week, our kids can grow to know Jesus through worship, scripture, and loving relationships with other kids and teachers. If you want to know more about what curriculum we use, go to whatisorange.com. We divide our classes into age groups, as follows: Ages 0 2 years see Nursery section, Toddlers (12 mo - 2 years) - meet in classroom near ramp, 2 and 3 Year Olds, Preschoolers, Kindergarten and 1st Graders, 2nd and 3rd Graders, 4th and 5th Graders (older students: see Student Ministry. Church Camp: Church Camp is also available for all kids from the1st grade and up! We love camp and relationships are built as we grow closer to God. Check out sccacamp.com for all the camps happening this year! Many events go on throughout the year. Like us on Facebook at fb.com/crossroadscm for updates and upcoming events. Little Lambs & Sunday Night Live: On Sundays during the school year from 6 7:30 P.M., our Sunday Nights are full of fun, food, worship, and more. We split into two age groups: Little Lambs (2 years through Kindergarten) and Sunday Night Live (1st through 5th grade). We eat dinner together, then split into our groups for 14 CROSSROADS KIDS

the evening. Both groups have worship, a lesson, and games. When Christmas gets closer, we practice for a Christmas Program that we perform for families and friends. During the winter and spring, we focus more on service and relationship building. Come join us on Sunday Nights at Crossroads Kids! Vacation Bible School: Vacation Bible School happens every summer in July. It's a week-long event for kids from preschool through 5th grade. During each day, we will sing songs, make crafts, play games, learn a lesson, eat snacks, and have a blast! Many children who have never heard about Jesus hear about Him and His love for us for the first time at VBS. Join us in 2017 from July 16-20th! Registration is online at vbscrossroads.com. STUDENT MINISTRY Student Ministry: The student ministry is specifically designed for students in sixth through twelfth grade. The goal of this ministry is to provide students with an open, safe and honest place to meet Jesus and deal with real life. We offer Sunday School classes for middle school and high school students during the 9:30 service. We also meet every Sunday night from 5:30-7:30. Sunday night Student Ministry typically consists of fun games, food, worship led by our student band, teaching, and student Life Groups. Through our regular meeting times, as well as weeklong summer trips, weeks of camp at SCCA, service projects, weekend retreats, and other fun activities, our goal is that students learn what it means to follow Jesus not just hear about Him. 15
