SUNDAY AFTER CHRISTMAS December 29, 2013 FIRST ANTIPHON: VERSE: I will give thanks to You, O Lord, with all my heart: I will declare all Your wondrous deeds. REFRAIN: Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Savior, save us. VERSE: Before the assembly where the just are gathered, the Lord's works are great, decreed to fulfill all His purposes. REFRAIN: Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Savior, save us. VERSE: Praise and magnificence are His works, and His justice is eternal. REFRAIN: Through the prayers of the Mother of God, O Savior, save us. Glory be to the Father : O only begotten Son SECOND ANTIPHON: VERSE: Come, let us sing joyfully to Lord, Let us acclaim God, our Savior. REFRAIN: Son of God, Born of the Virgin Mary, save us who sing to You. Alleluia. VERSE: Let us come before His face with praise, and acclaim Him in psalms. REFRAIN: Son of God, Born of the Virgin Mary, save us who sing to You. Alleluia. VERSE: For God is the great Lord and the great king over all the earth.refrain: Son of God, Born of the Virgin Mary, save us who sing to You. Alleluia. ENTRANCE HYMN: Priest: Wisdom stand aright!: VERSE: Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ. REFRAIN: O Son of God, Born of the Virgin Mary, save us who sing to You. Alleluia. TROPAR By your cross you shattered death, and to the thief you opened up paradise. Into joy you turned the wailing of the myrrh-bearing women. You commanded the apostles to preach that you are risen. O Christ, our God, upon the world you bestow great mercy.

TROPAR - O Joseph, announce to David, ancestor of Christ, the good news of these wonders you have seen: a Virgin giving birth to a Child. With the shepherds you have glorified Him; with the wise men you have worshipped Him, and an angel appeared to you. Ask Christ our God to save our souls. Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. KONDAK: Today, David, beloved of God, is filled with joy; Joseph and James offer hymns of praise; their joy is the crown of relationship with Christ. They sing praise to Him Who was wondrously born; and they cry out: O Merciful Lord, save those who honor You. Now and always and forever and ever. Amen. KONDAK: Today the Virgin gives birth to perfect Essence, and the earth offers a cave to the Inaccessible. The Angels sing His glory with the shepherds: the wise men journey with the star, for there is born for us an Infant Child, God Eternal. PROKIMEN: God the God of Israel is wonderful among his holy ones. Verse: Praise God in the assemblies; praise the Lord, you descendents of Israel. Allelulia (3). A reading from St. Paul's Epistle to the Galatians (1:11-19) Brethren, I assure you, brothers, the gospel I proclaimed to you is no mere human invention. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I schooled in it. It came by revelation from Jesus Christ. You have heard, I know, the story of my former way of life in Judaism. You know that I went to extremes in persecuting the Church of God and tried to destroy it; I made progress in Jewish observance far beyond most of my contemporaries, in my excess of zeal to live out all the traditions of my ancestors. But the time came when he who had set me apart before I was born and called me by his favor chose to reveal his Son to me, that I might spread among the Gentiles the good tidings concerning him. Immediately, without seeking human advisers or even going to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before me, I went off to Arabia; later I returned to Damascus. Three years after that I went up to Jerusalem to get to know Cephas, with whom I stayed fifteen days. I did not meet any other apostles except James, the brother of the Lord. I declare before God that what I have just written is true.

ALLELUIA: Lord, remember David and all his meekness. Alleluia (3). Verse: How he swore to the Lord, vowed to the God of Jacob. Alleluia (3). GOSPEL OF MATTHEW (2:13-23) When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. Get up, he said, take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him. So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: Out of Egypt I called my son. When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more. After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child s life are dead. So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene. INSTEAD OF IT IS TRULY RIGHT: Extol my soul, the Christ, the King born in a cave. Most wondrous is this strange mystery that I see. A cave has become Heaven, a virgin the throne of the cherubim, a manger, the most noble place, for in it there rests Christ, the unconfinable God. In hymns and songs of praise and joy on this day we extol Him. COMMUNION VERSE: Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the highest. Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous ones. Praise from the upright is fitting. Alleluia (3). DIVINE LITURGY: We will be alternating the language of the 10:30AM Sunday Divine Liturgy every week. One week the Divine Liturgy will be in English. Next week will be in Slavonic. This will continue into and through the upcoming year. Collection: December 15: Total: $428/December 22: Total: $1,781.35
