FBC eblast August 30, 2018 www.fbcwoodbury.org Dr. Chuck Kelley, President of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, said in a recent chapel message: We are NOBTS: we have conversations with people, not conversations about people. If we just refused to talk about a person until we have first talked to that person, many, even most of the problems I ve seen through the years in church life would never have lifted off the launch pad. Jesus says in Matthew 18 that if you have an issue with a brother or sister, you should first go to him or her privately. If we took that to heart in the church, from leaders to laypeople, it would build our understanding and love for each other, prevent unnecessary judgment and misunderstanding, and turn many of our problems into blessings. It can be powerfully tempting just to have conversations about people, but determine to have conversations with people instead it ll make you obedient to Jesus and bless you, them, and your church. How do we reach the world with the Gospel? How do we get word to all the people who need to know that they re fighting a war that was won long ago, and there is a Savior who offers salvation and real life?
