Jul 2014 Volume 2, Issue 7 Lighthouse Evangelism Touchlight Newsletter Touching Others Under Christ s Hand We listen to each other. We support each other. We help each other. We are there for each other. The new school term brings new challenges. It is always heartening to know that whenever we are facing challenges, we are not facing them alone. The Lord is always with us in every situation, as long as we allow him. For many of us, we are used to fixing our problems by ourselves. For some it When we truly believe, then can we truly trust, and in doing so, then can we truly rest. My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. Exodus 33:14 seems scary and risky to trust God in their situation because Without a shadow of doubt the God we believe in is the true that means letting go. and living God who is able to help, save and deliver us from the Yet, that is precisely what the Lord wants us to do let it go most urgent need in His perfect time. and let Him be God. Just like the disciples who Mark 10:27 were fearful and in terrible panic when they encountered a ferocious storm. They had even chided Jesus for not caring for them. We need to build the kind of absolute trust that Jesus had in God. A trust that enabled Him to rest even in the midst of a mighty storm. Jesus trusted God and knew that no harm would befall Him. Yea, thought I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou are with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 By Venetia Yeo
In June, we completed our series on the Miracles of Jesus and started lessons on the Bible characters. The children were taught characters such as Adam and Eve, John the Baptist and Paul from the Bible. Through Bible characters, we will continue to teach the children about God and how to have more faith in Him. We will demonstrate that our God is all powerful. He can do all things. Nothing is too difficult for Him. And we all need to have faith in Him. He also hears our prayers even when there are little whispers. All we need is to ask Him boldly, believe Him earnestly, and receive from Him abundantly for all our needs, healings and blessings. Mark 11:24, Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. . The Miracles Stories ended with the miracle of Jesus healing Jarius daughter. While others said that Jarius daughter was dead, Jesus told Jarius, Don t be afraid, just believe. (Mark 5:36) We encouraged our Touchlightees to be courageous and to believe in Jesus. We have begun the Bible Characters Stories. We will be bringing the heroes of the bible to the Touchlightees with the hope that they will emulate the way the heroes walked with the Lord. Our first story is also the first man and woman in the bible Adam and Eve. We shared that all of God s creation are good; it is the choices we make that would make God glad or sad. We emphasized to the Touchlightees that God has provided His instructions for us in the bible. As we obey God s word, we should also obey our earthly parents and authorities over Page 4 We encouraged the Touchlightees to follow the example of John the Baptist by sharing the Good News with everyone. While telling the story, we also provided picture cards and the Touchlightees followed the story by telling their teachers the sequence of the story. We also reversed the roles of student and teacher in a game to equip our Touchlightees in expressing themselves. The teachers had their back against the screen and the Touchlightees gave instructions for them to follow in order to draw a simple picture projected on the screen. The Touchlightees also made a paper sandal with the scripture Isaiah 52:7 to be reminded of How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news on the sole. The Touchlightees got to practice their fine motor skills as they laced up their paper sandals. Paper Sandals In the life of Paul, the Touchlightees learnt that to believe in Jesus is to have a transformed life, just like Paul. Touchlightees should be bold to declare that Jesus is Lord. We encouraged Touchlightees to always praise and worship God regardless of the situation they may be in, for God will deliver them when they have faith in Him. The Touchlightees played a game of Snap using cards with pictures of Paul s life story. The Touchlightees attentiveness was put to the test. LET Joy Room us.
