Rev. Bogdan Milosz, Pastor 14025 E. Twelve Mile Road Warren, MI 48088 586-772-2720 FAX: 586-772-5576 EMAIL: stfaustina@comcast.net WEB PAGE stfaustina-mi.org Established July 1, 2013 SEPTEMBER 30, 2018 TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OUR MISSION STATEMENT We continue the work of Jesus Christ and help everyone seek and experience the love and mercy of God. Fr. Bogdan s Corner September is over. Tomorrow is the beginning of October, the month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus, our Savior. Traditionally, devoted Catholics are saying the rosary. I heard that some non-catholics also like to say the rosary and meditate on its mysteries. The prayers that comprise the rosary are arranged in sets of ten Hail Marys, called decades. Each decade is preceded by one Lord s Prayer and followed by one Glory Be. During recitation of each set, thought is given to one of the Mysteries of the rosary, which recall events in the Life of Jesus and Mary. There are 20 Mysteries and the rosary is divided into four groups: five Joyful, five Sorrowful, five Glorious and five Luminous Mysteries. On Mondays and Saturdays, we say the Joyful Mysteries, on Tuesdays and Fridays we say the Sorrowful Mysteries, on Wednesdays we say the Glorious Mysteries and on Thursday the Luminous Mysteries. In this time of crises that affects our lives, it is appropriate to say the rosary. I appreciate the Rosary Devotion before each Mass in our church. And many thanks to our Living Rosary Group. It is also a good prayer for individual devotion. Tuesday of this week is dedicated to the Holy Guardian Angel. On this day and on every day of the year we may recite: Holy Guardian Angel whom God has appointed to be my guardian, direct and govern me during this day. Amen. This Thursday is the memorial of St. Francis of Assisi who was born in Italy, founder of the Men s Order of Friars Minor, the Women s Order of Saint Clare and the Third Order of Saint Francis that some women in our parish have joined. St. Francis, for the first time in history, arranged a live Christmas Nativity Scene. He is the patron of animals. Many people have animals as their friends. I am going to bless animals on Saturday October 6 th at noon. Last Sunday we heard the letter from Archbishop Vigneron in which he expressed embarrassment and deep concern for the victims of clergy abuse and encouraged us to pray for them. As your priest, I share the same feelings, however, knowing the psychology of child development, I feel the pain they must be experiencing. I am encouraging you to pray with me for all the victims and their families. In the days ahead, let us pray for each other that we will never experience such a crisis. I am inviting everyone for the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Friday, October 5 th for the celebration of the feast day of St. Faustina. It is also the first Friday of October. After the Mass there will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. God Bless, Fr. Bogdan

We will be saying the rosary after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Wednesday, October 3 rd. We will meet in the Family Center. All are welcome! We are still accepting prayer requests. PAGE 4 Novena to St. Faustina before her feast day on Friday, October 5 th (Start on Thursday, September 27 th and recite daily) Prayer to obtain graces through the intercession of Saint Faustina O Jesus, who filled Saint Faustina with profound veneration for Your boundless Mercy, deign, if it be Your holy will, to grant me, through her intercession, the grace for which I fervently pray My sins render me unworthy of Your Mercy, but be mindful of Sister Faustina s spirit of sacrifice and self-denial, and reward her virtue by granting the petition which, with childlike trust, I present to You through her intercession. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be Saint Faustina, Apostle and Secretary of Divine Mercy, pray for us! Chapel of the miraculous image of the Merciful Jesus and the tomb of St. Faustina Bring your pets for a blessing on Saturday, October 6 th at noon. The blessing will take place outside the main doors of the church. Our pets are a blessing to us! Thank God for them!

PAGE 5 Are you enrolled in the Brown Scapular? Enrollment available this coming First Saturday, October 6 th at 11:00 A.M. Are you aware of our Blessed Mother s promise? "Take this Scapular, it shall be a sign of salvation, a protection in danger and a pledge of peace. Whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire." She further says: "Wear it devoutly and perseveringly. It is my garment. To be clothed in it means you are continually thinking of me, and I in turn, am always thinking of you and helping you to secure eternal life." Wearing the Brown Scapular is a sign of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Our Lady asked for this consecration in the last apparition at Fatima, when she appeared as Our Lady of Mount Carmel, holding the Brown Scapular out to the whole world. It was Her last loving appeal to souls to wear Her Scapular as a sign of Consecration to Her Immaculate Heart. St. Claude de la Colombiere, the renowned Jesuit and spiritual director of St. Margaret Mary, gives a point which is enlightening. He said: "Because all the forms of our love for the Blessed Virgin, all its various modes of expression cannot be equally pleasing to Her, and therefore do not assist us in the same degree to Heaven. I say without a moments hesitation that the BROWN SCAPULAR IS THE MOST FAVORED OF ALL!" He also adds: "No devotion has been confirmed by more numerous authentic miracles than the Brown Scapular." During the apparitions at Fatima, our Blessed Mother told the three shepherd children that wars were a punishment due to sin and that man must stop offending God. She predicted that if people did not follow the "Peace Plan from Heaven" that Russia would rise and spread her errors throughout the world and that "various nations would be annihilated..." The Blessed Mother gave the three children a frightening vision of Hell and told them this was where the souls of poor sinners go and that "many souls go to Hell because there is no one to pray for them..." What is the Peace Plan from heaven? Stop offending God with sin, pray the Rosary daily, offer prayers and sacrifices of reparation including the devotion of the Five First Saturdays, consecrate ourselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and wear the Brown Scapular. To all of you who were unable to attend the picnic, we missed you. Those of you that were able to attend enjoyed good food, entertainment, but best of all fellowship with other parishioners. I would especially like to thank Big Boy Restaurant located on 12 Mile for their generous donation of three of their delicious pies. I know the people who purchased them loved them. I also want to thank all of you who donated so much of our baked goods for our sale. We made over $300 for the church. We could not have done it without all of the help we received from my St. Vincent de Paul family who stayed with me all day. Thank you again and with God s help I ll see you next year! Mary

PAGE 6 Thank you to all of the students and parents who attended our first religious education class for the 2018-2019 year. Our theme this year is Jesus loves you. We want our students to know Jesus and to want to give their hearts to Him. Jesus loves all of us. He gave His life to save us and now He is living at our side every day to enlighten, strengthen, and free us. God showed His love for us when His Son died on the cross to save us from our sins. We are all created in God s image so He wants everyone to be like Him. He wants us to love one another. God s love is always there. He waits at the door of our hearts for us to let Him in. God doesn t force Himself on us. He waits for us to open our hearts to Him. The next religious education class for grades 1-8 is Monday, October 1 st from 6:00-7:15 p.m. The next Confirmation class is Monday, October 8 th from 7:30-9:00 p.m. Children s Liturgy of the Word which is on Sundays at the 11:00 a.m. Mass will begin on October 7 th.
