Thank you for your assistance! Silent Blessings Linwood is blessed to have both deaf and hearing people in our congregation and blessed to have Melodie Harral as an interpreter. She does an amazing job as she witnesses for the Lord. There are times Melodie is not able to interpret, which impacts the deaf people in our congregation. To ensure everyone gets a full enjoyment, we are looking for anyone who would be able to help with interpretation at Linwood when Melodie is not able to. If there are any questions, call the church office or 768-0726. Your prayers and support for this ministry is appreciated. April 21, 2018 Page 5

BASEMENT REMODEL $150,000 $138,231.78 Church Directory If you were not able to get a picture taken in February or provide one to the church office, do not worry, there is still time! There will still be an opportunity to have a picture taken at church or simply send a picture to the church office at email@linwoodsda.org. If any editing needs to be done, we are happy to help with that. Why a church directory? In a very real sense, directories are important in helping members of a congregation feel connected to the church. Expressed by someone who works with church directories, A directory can solidify members to the church. Members feel a sense of pride, a sense of belonging, a sense of community when they are a part of the directory. Thank you for your help in being a part of Linwood s church directory. UPPER COLUMBIA CONFERENCE NEWS New UCC President - Dr. Minervino (Minner) Labrador Jr. Following an invitation by the Upper Columbia Conference Nominating Committee and Executive Committee Monday, April 16, 2018, Dr. Minervino (Minner) Labrador Jr. accepted a call to serve as conference president. Pastor Labrador said, Evelyn and I are looking forward to serving the members of Upper Columbia Conference as we prepare for the soon coming of the Lord. Please keep us in your prayers as we make the transition to Spokane. We look forward to personally meeting you very soon. Read the full story on here: https://sp.uccsda.org/news2018-04-17 Prayer for Peaceful Valley School This week, we pray for Peaceful Valley Christian School in Tonasket, Wash. Henry Buursma is teacher/principal of this one room school This school has been facing great financial difficulties, and in January they considered the possibility of closing for next school year. But the constituency has pulled together, and miracles have been taking place. Here is what Henry shared: We have so much to praise God for that words cannot begin to express our thanks. Since January, we have included a brief newsletter informing all our church members and parents about our school and its needs as well as blessings. Excerpts from the latest newsletter sums up this years experience. Who would have ever guessed back in December that by the end of the 2018 school year we expect to be financially in the black? Our gratitude to the Lord for blessing us is beyond words! In the last decade or so, a lot of changes have taken place. We lost a lot of key financial people who were heavy supporters of the school, either by death or by moving away. Thankfully, our eyes are wide open now and we are moving forward with the development of new ideas and plans that will hopefully prevent this from happening again. But most important of all, we ve recognized that the Holy Spirit has been in our midst guiding and directing us. We thank each person who has helped make this happen. Our prayers are focused on increased enrollment, a continued stable income which will enable us to make necessary improvements and provide maintenance for our school, and most importantly a greater witness for our community. NOTES April 21, 2018 Page 11

We Believe... 1. That the Bible is the final authority for all belief and practice for the Christian (2 Timothy 3:16-17). 2. That there is one God revealed in three persons God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17: Genesis 1:26). 3. That we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (John 3:16, 1 John 5:12-13 & Ephesians 2:8-9). 4. That Christians who have been redeemed by Jesus will live in obedience to all of His commandments (John 14:15). 5. That Jesus will come again very soon (John 14:1-3). 6. That the requirements of the Ten Commandments are still binding on all people today, including the seventh-day Sabbath of the fourth commandment (Matthew 5:17, Exodus 20:8-11). 7. That the judgment which will decide the eternal destiny of all people is now taking place in heaven (Daniel 8:14, 9:25-27). 8. That when a person dies one does not go immediately to heaven or hell, but rests in the grave as one who is asleep awaiting the resurrection (Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, John 5:28-29, 11:11-14). 9. That after Jesus comes again, the people of God will judge the world with Jesus, following which fire will fall from heaven to completely devour the wicked and purify the earth (1 Corinthians 6:2-3, Revelation 20:4-9, 2 Peter 3:10-13). 10. That God, as a loving Father, wants us to live healthful lives avoiding foods and substances He has declared unfit, and actively pursuing positive lifestyle habits (Leviticus 11, Proverbs 20:1, Daniel 1:8, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). 11. That the followers of Jesus will live pure and honorable lives making sure their business, recreation and relationships meet the Bible standard (Philippians 4:8). 12. That God gives spiritual gifts to His people for the purpose of ministry. Given by the agency of the Holy Spirit gifts provide the abilities and ministries such as faith, healing, prophecy, proclamation, teaching, administration, reconciliation, compassion, charity and other gifts. (1 Corinthians 12; Rom. 12:4-8; 1 Peter 4:10, 11). 13. That the Seventh-day Adventist Church fills a special role in the world today to prepare people for the 2nd coming of Jesus (Rev. 14:6-13). 14. That we will grow as we spend time with God in prayer, as we feed on His word and share His love through witnessing.(2 Timothy 2:15; Ephesians 6:18; Galatians 5:22-25) 15. That the Bible teaches that all who have accepted Jesus as their Savior/Lord, and who intend to obey all the teachings of the Bible should be baptized by immersion (John 3:5; Mark 16:16 & Matthew 28:19-20).
