Term 2 Week 3 03/05/2018 Dear Parents, Thank you to all the parents and children who have welcomed me back to school this week. I am feeling terrific after my surgery and recuperation and I am looking forward to getting stuck into this term. I would like to thank Ms. Laurie for taking over the reigns in my absence. She did a fantastic job and was ably supported by the Leadership team and staff of the school. My heartfelt thanks to all. Last week, the Middle students went on camp to Phillip Island. The teachers came back singing the praises of the students and how well behaved they were and what a great time they all had. Congratulations to our Middle students and thank you to Mr. Devlin, Ms. Varga, Ms. Mogridge, Ms. Madigan and Ms. Brown for all giving of their time to give our students this wonderful experience. Photos of the children on camp are on page 4. This week, Archbishop Denis Hart came to the school to visit the Grade 6 Confirmation Candidates. Archbishop Hart spoke to the children about their upcoming Confirmation which he will be celebrating. Last week, the Candidates took part in a Confirmation Reflection Day and formation evening in preparation for the making of this Sacrament. Thank you very much to Ms. Mackin, Mrs. Novak and Ms. Lee for the preparation of the candidates and organisation for evening. I would like to wish our candidates: Thomas, Jed, Annika, Lotus, Lucy, Noah M, Anthony, Madison, Xavier H, Jack, Isabella, Christian, Noah D, Ava, Jade, Charlotte, Evie, Spencer & Jake all the very best in their preparation for Confirmation. They are in our prayers. Also this week the children took part in an incursion for Spanish. A flamenco dancer and musician came to the school to teach the children about flamenco dancing and spanish music. The children had a wonderful time and were swishing their skirts, rolling the wrists and hands, clapping their hands and stamping their feet. Thank you to Ms. Fogarty for organising this incursion for the children. Finally, our deepest condolences and sympathies to Marie Paton and her family on the passing of Marie s mother on Monday evening. On behalf of the St. Margaret Mary s community our thoughts and prayers are with Marie and her family, at this very sad time. Please keep the following children in your prayers as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation next Friday evening. Thomas Allen Jed Anders Hugh Craig Annika Dass Lotus Di Battista On Tuesday Archbishop Denis Hart visited the Confirmation Candidates. Lucy Diggerson Noah Douglas Anthony Furia BREAKING NEWS: Archbishop Hart comes to visit Saint Margaret Mary's Madison Gurmesevic Xavier Hermans Jack Knight Isabella Maybin Christian Persichelli Noah McGee Lavany Senthil Ava de Sousa Jade Scolaro Charlotte Stratford Evie Stosic Spencer Tull Jake Vassallo Today Archbishop Hart came to visit St Margaret Mary s Confirmation Candidates, who had been waiting in anticipation for his arrival. Wow he looks stern, reported Jade. The nervous confirmation candidates followed him into the church, and sat down quietly. He began by talking about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and we began to understand that it is always with us stated Ava. He explained that your breath is like the Holy Spirit because you can not see your breath, just like you can t see the Holy Spirit. It is here, but you just can t see it. I thought that was very relevant because without your breath you will not be able to live, and without the Holy Spirit, you could not have faith in God, commented Isabella. The Archbishop informed the candidates about how Confirmation was going to run on the night, said Jack. He explained the basic ritual to them and they quickly understood. He finished off with a final prayer and dismissed them, wishing them the best of luck. This is Jade and Alexis reporting from Senior B, Spotswood, thankyou and goodnight!
